Problem 1: Low FPS when running Crysis Demo in Directx 10 mode

Solution : download the November REDIST Directx 10 package off Microsoft. Their web update package doesn’t seem to update much and leaves alot of old stuff there. DL link : here (solution posted by – marauderxp )

Problem 2: Crysis hangs up / freezes when i try start in dirext10, and i have downloaded that file and latest betadrivers from nvidia

Solution : go into your Crysis folder \Bin32\ folder and launch Crysis from there. It’ll run in 32-Bit, that doesn’t freeze. The problem is caused by the new drivers + 64-Bit (Vista?) (solution posted by Reyde)

Problem 3: Crysis wont run on my Vista 64-bit machine with an Nvidia graphics card

Solution : Use the 32-bit Nvidia drivers.

Solution #2 : Do not use the latest Nvidia drivers.

Solution #3 : Download this small Vista 64 fix from microsoft. Link

Solution #4 : Play Crysis in Directx9 mode

Solution #5 (Added October 29) : Download the Nvidia drivers that were made specially for Crysis demo.

special Nvidia driver for Crysis demo for Vista 64 bit (169.01)

special Nvidia driver for Crysis demo for Windows XP 32 bit (169.01)

special Nvidia driver for Crysis demo for Windows XP 64 bit (169.01)

Note : some users got Crysis working on a Vista 64-bit with Nvidia 163.75 beta drivers.

Problem : Crysis shows up a Black Screen After the Frozen ship scene

Reason : End of the Crysis demo.

“if you got to the editor and time everything perfectly you get to see a little bit of what happens next I think you chase the Alien then after that it tells you that you can’t go any further or you will be killed stuff!” – Stickman

Problem 4: Crysis Sandbox Installation Error “Error 1303 : The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory…”

Solution #1 : Run it with Administrator privileges

For Vista users :

In order to install and use the Crysis(R) Sandbox Editor on Windows
Vista(TM) it is necessary to disable User Account Control (UAC). To
disable UAC, follow these steps:

1) Go to Start \ Control Panel \ User Accounts

2) Click the “Turn user account control on or off” option

3) Click continue on the UAC popup

4) Uncheck the box next to “Use user account control (UAC) to help
protect my computer”

5) Click OK

posted by jert123

Problem 5: Sandbox Ctrl + G console error when creating terrain

Note : “It is a known bug, Cry-Alex addressed it on Crymod… not sure if there coming out with a fix” – xfinchx

Note #2 : “OK did a little digging around that website Crymod… found that if i save, exit and reopen the editor, ctrl + G works, but my ground still has no texture.” – Crab

Problem #6 : I have a very decent windows XP machine. I want to play Crysis on my windows XP machine with the direct x10 features enabled but the “very high” option is not enabled

Solution : This is a set of modified CVar files for the Crysis SP demo that lets you get multiple ‘DX10 exclusive’ features running under the DX9 ‘High’ mode. Download it here : Here

i’m having the same problem as this guy i.e. sticky keyboard & mouse buttons. it’ll lag for 5-10 seconds at a time, where your guy will just keep going in a direction and only respond to mouse movement, but no buttons.

  2. Brian — October 27, 2007 @ 8:29 pm

    Hey man,

Nice stuff here. I’m on a vista 32 bit q6600 machine with a 8800 GTS 320mb video card and I got the newest drivers and the newest DX10 update you have posted here. I’m having a problem that happens at random times in the game, it says the driver has stopped responding(vista error) then the game closes down.

I haven’t seen any posts around any forums of people with my similar problem.

If you could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks, brian

  6. Bas T — October 27, 2007 @ 10:57 pm

Strangest thing here, I have Vista x64 and at first I played the game with the latest WHQL drivers, SLI turned OFF and it ran, albeit slowly. After that I updated to the latest beta drivers (169.01), turned on SLI and now the game freezes at the ‘this demo is for promotional purposes only’ text.
The 32-bit version of the game starts up, then usually crashes during the sponsor cinematics (nvidia, intel, etc.)

    Disappointed here :(

I did run the demo about 30 min it worked fine but the next time i did start it it crashes when it is loaded to 100%.

  9. David — October 28, 2007 @ 1:28 am

Nice solutions, the new directx helped me up about 10fps. However I don’t see the “use 32bit exe instead of the 64bit as a real solution to the 64bit freeze… I wish I could run it in 64bit exe..

  10. jon — October 28, 2007 @ 1:52 am

is anyone else having issues with ATI drivers? Im getting a lot of transparent objects and a dark almost blacked out sceen. I got x1900xt, fx-55, 2.5gbram, and the catalyst driver 7.10 i believe. Its the latest driver anyway. what should i do??

  11. deschinc — October 28, 2007 @ 2:19 am

I’m running XP, AMD X2, 7600GT, 2GB mem, lates NV drivers and my problem is garbled video even at the lowest settings. Everything seems to be working gamewise but the display. Any ideas?

  12. Killcam — October 28, 2007 @ 3:39 am

    Hi guys,

I also have a problem. I have XP-32 bit, I have the latest XP updates and the latest driver for my 7600 GS (169.01). Sometimes. the game freezes which is very annoying. Also, sometimes after the intro (the nano-suit video) it shows black screen, I can go out to the desktop and close Crysis but still it shows the black screen. :D But these are random. Is there a fix for this? I started the program in 32-bit so that can’t be problem. I read on forums but there isn’t any solution for this, and I haven’t heard about XP problems only Vista. Please help me.

  13. Shine — October 28, 2007 @ 5:01 am

Hi, it is good to found this nice place. Seems like no one has same issue with me. Well, It is running perfect with my Windows XP. But when run it with VISTA, it was strange, program goes well at the beginning, after enter the main menu, sounds start to lag, and if start the game the video(before game loading) will run at a extremly low fps, and I have to open the console mode and ‘quit’ it.
If start the game again at a short moment after the quit, even the very beginning logo shows has the low fps issue.
It looks like some kind of system resource cant release during the game.

My system is AMD 3800+, 8800GTS, 2G Memory.

    Thanks

  14. wylde1019 — October 28, 2007 @ 5:30 am

Whenever I play the demo all the terrain is messed up, any rocks or anything are all invisible, people are invisible too, so are my weapons and my guy. I’m running an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz E6550 with a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 mb, and 2x 1Gb DDr2 800 MHz. I have tried it with and without the 7.10 drivers and the only thing that 7.10 fixed was the intro videos (EA, Crytek, Intel, etc) don’t chug up anymore. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this problem?

  15. ahdashd — October 28, 2007 @ 6:47 am

I beat the demo, alt-f4′d out. Went to play again, Rendering issues. It has like a square in the top right with my HUD and the rest of the screen is unrender’d stuff.

The opening video when Prophet is up in yo’ grill. It’s just eyeballs. Same goes for Phyco and the other dude.

Any idea what this could be?

  16. Foghorn — October 28, 2007 @ 8:28 am

I keep getting this error when I try to launch the game. Probably more helpful to post the event log:

Activation context generation failed for “C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Bin32\Crysis.exe”. Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT,processorArchitecture=”x86″,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b”,type=”win32″,version=”8.0.50727.762″ could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

Running fully patched Vista Ultimate 32 with latest drivers. Is this a problem with my computer, or the game?

  17. haris — October 28, 2007 @ 1:14 pm

Help, when i start a new game in the demo, it loads fine, but when you fall in the water at the begining, my mouse and keyboard dont let me move. i cant look around or move at all!

  18. Bryan C — October 28, 2007 @ 4:42 pm

Crysis Demo won’t launch after a successful install siting Unsupported Vid Card – Intels G965 Express Chip Set

Come’on EA!!!??? This is a brand new Dell. What’s up?

Anyone have any suggestions? Or is this just EA messing up with a demo launch again.

  19. Pickwickian — October 28, 2007 @ 5:00 pm

The game seems to be running fine on my system apart from the fact that all the models and textures are gone.

It’s almost a black screen but not quite, I can see dust/haze stuff and certain bits of certain models and all the people are just eyeballs…

I have no clue how to fix this…

3.2GHz Processor, 1GB RAM, 111GB HD, 7600GT. Even on lowest settings, I get the same problem.

  20. Simon the Fish — October 28, 2007 @ 6:38 pm

    vista64 with nvidia 7950gtx go.
Get past the parachute bit, into water, then out and right where it asks you to jump for the first time, thats it. Crash city. Even on 800/600 n everything low.
    This £1600 lappy’s only 3 months old!
Tried everything except using 32 bit drivers. How can my 64 bit system install them? Tried vista and xp 32. Won’t install. Time for sleep..

  21. polyphony — October 28, 2007 @ 7:38 pm

I have the same problem as #14. Invisible characters and rocks I saw eyeballs (and only eyeballs) for about 2 seconds in the helicopter, but that’s it.

I can see are lights (flashlights, fire, flare etc), smoke/spray and eyeballs. If I look at the sky, I can sometimes see the silhouette of my weapon.

The screen is also duplicated, in the top left hand corner, with a bit more detail there, like a box.

Here’s a pic of me on the ground- look for the outlines of trees.

I have a 2600XT running Vista 32. 2600xt Drivers are 7.10 (The October 11 versions). Crysis randomly freezes in the first level. I updated DirectX 10 that you posted but it still freezes randomly.

  26. Eirik — October 29, 2007 @ 12:21 am

    My setup:
    - Multiboot Vista Ultimate and Windows XP pro
    - AMD Athlon 4200+
    - EVGA 8800 320 GTS
    - 2 GB RAM

I can only play 3-5 minutes before the demo crashes, and my PC bluescreens. On Vista I get a message that the displaydriver has stopped working (nvlddmkm.sys) followed by a bluescreen and a reboot, in XP the PC just crashes to bluescreen and reboots the computer. I have installed the special optimized Crysis driver for my card, updated DirectX and installed various Windows hotfixes. I have tried to lower the graphicks settings to medium. I have tried to start the game in both DX10 and DX9 mode. I have tried to clock DOWN my 8800 card to below the factory settings. All to no avail.

I had the exact same problem with World in Conflict, but I could “solve” it by playing in windowed mode. This does not solve the problem in Crysis. All other games are working flawlessly, including Team Fortress 2 which I am playing alot.

Googling nvlddmkm.sys reveals that alot of users have this problem with various graphic heavy games, but I can find no ultimate solution.

This is so frustrating, as the game really looks amazing. I just wish I could play more than a few minutes before it crashes :-(

  27. Blackpsp — October 29, 2007 @ 12:24 am

  28. ddurog — October 29, 2007 @ 12:28 am

I have serious sound issues with this game… during the game the sound lags like hell. Even when I turn of ingame music and turn on foobar during the game the audio lags. It doesnt matter if I play at high resolution or low, nor does it matter what programs run aside Crysis.

    My system:
    Vista
    AMD 64 3200+
    2 gb ram
    7600GT
    Creative live 24bit

    Gaming without sound… (n)

    and a message: no access.

    Please HELP!

  39. the s man — October 30, 2007 @ 6:11 am

for transparency ishues turn the shaders to high, not shadows just shaders. you will take a huge fps hit beacuse of it but you should be able to see stuff. Crytech really needs to fix that shit, it happens to ati or nvidia cards.

  40. Dave — October 30, 2007 @ 1:29 pm

Hey all, I was having major crashes with latest nVidia beta drivers. I turned post-processing (motion blur) down to ‘low’ and everything is working fine now. Give it a try, might help. 2×8800gtx, E6420, 4GB RAM, ASUS P5N32E-SLI Plus, XP Pro

  41. Monkeydude — October 30, 2007 @ 10:08 pm

  42. Pete — October 31, 2007 @ 1:51 am

I have the same problem as no.14 and 21…i can only see Eyeballs floating in the opening sequence, within the helicopter. i have a nVidia 7600 GT, and the new update, i have 1GB Ram and Windows XP. My friend has pretty much the same pc spec as me, and the crysis demo runs perfectly on his pc.

Anyone having any trouble with Dell DM061’s Intel video card G965 chipset famly? Game won’t launch siting unsupported video card. If true that would suck as the PC is 4 months new!

    Running Vista 32bit Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.86GHz, 2GB RAM.

Anyone have a solution or can point to one, please?

  44. mb — October 31, 2007 @ 11:57 am

Ahh, finally got the game to run super smooth by turning down the preprocessing and the shadows. SO I got to the point where there is a large boat up on stilts, and after a while of me trying to smash the stilts in order to knock the boat down (lol it didn’t work) all of a sudden there was a duplicate graphics of my arm and body, as if there were two of me standing in the same spot, with the ‘other guy’ slightly delayed reactions.

SO I ignored that and continued on where it tells you to find some grenades. For whatever reason I grabbed this huge box and tried to chuck it straight in the sky, and the game froze on me. Vista Business edition. core 2 duo 3 ghz w/ 8800GTS 640MB. Thats my story.

  45. FW — November 1, 2007 @ 3:52 am

Bryan C: You won’t be able to run the game with that video card, because it just isn’t made for gaming.

Anyway, I’m experiencing “video driver stopped responding” -crash every time I hit the water in the beginning of the demo. Nvidia Geforce go 7700, Vista 32. Driver 169.04.

  46. tom — November 2, 2007 @ 4:32 am

  48. sigma — November 2, 2007 @ 1:32 pm

I’ve installed Sandbox2 with the installer, went to the Bin32 folder and clicked Editor. Once i click it, nothing happens

    I’m running on XP

  49. Anon — November 3, 2007 @ 7:36 pm

Ok for those with the all transparent textures issue there was a solution that involved turning AA Transparency from “Multisampling” or “Supersampling” to “Off” in your driver control panel…

My problem is probably far more abstract and unheard of though >.<

I can play perfectly fine on low settings with a comp just barely below min specs. However, I will come out of the corridor-ish beginning area and into the beach area and after a few minutes it will completely freeze and the sound will continue for about 5 seconds then the sound either stops or goes in a ticking loop, after about 10 seconds the sound comes back to normal then 5 seconds later the whole game comes back, and after the first one they get more and more frequent until they stop for a little while then do the same kind of pattern of getting worse and worse until they stop again… I have tried all the obvious stuff before anyone tries to say “reinstall teh gaem omg lulz ez fix!” or “get new dryvors lolololo!!!1112!1!!”

  50. Geoff — November 8, 2007 @ 9:01 am

    INVISIBLE OBJECTS/NO TEXTURES
I had this problem too. Before i started a game i changed my resolution to 1680 x 1050 to suit my monitor better. everything was invisible except for a few shadows on objects. I changed my resolution to the versatile 1024×768 common resolution and played the game. within about 30 seconds all the textures rendered PERFECTLY, then i changed my resolution back to 1680×1050 and shes worked ever since.

  51. CHAKAONE — November 24, 2007 @ 2:23 am

having problems here to with crysis demo, after playing for about 15 minutes, the game would jerk around alot, then screen went black for 20 seconds, and was presented with the “windows as encounterd an error, it bought me back to windows only running in 16 colours, thing is i’ve had this with bioshock too, so im confused if its my system or buggy demos, i own a few pc games which run fine like doom 3 and fear, prey and res 4. anyone had the same

    windows xp home
    latest drivers 163.75
    gforce 7950 gt 512
1 gig of crutal 800 mhz
    amd x 2 4600

  52. TehSorrow — November 25, 2007 @ 2:05 pm

I’m having a small issue but a hugely annoying one. Everything runs fine but if i press TAB (Objectives) or C (Weapon mods) or anything that overlays a menu over my view it freezes for 3-5 seconds before returning to normal, seeing as these things dont pause the enemy i try and pull off a silencer and lag, then die.

    http://bf2s.liquidat0r.com/viewtopic.php?pid=62872

This guy is having the same issue but still no result.

  53. John — January 26, 2008 @ 1:30 pm

I have a 8500GT Super+1GB (yes, yes, I’ve heard it’s not a gamers card. But mine has a demon within) with a 2.8 Dual Core and 2GB of RAM. When I run Crysis on High, I get around 10 FPS. When I run it on Low, I get 25+, but something is terribly wrong. The whole game looks like mush. I’m being serious. Suddenly I can see through walls, then suddenly I can’t, suddenly the ground disappears, suddenly it’s back, and the water…the water looks like some distorted grey shader. If I set it all on Low with the Shader Quality on High, it’s fine. But the max FPS I get is 20; it often goes lower. I want to know how I can fix this, so I can have my Shader Quality on Medium/Low instead. It’s strange, because my brother has the exact same computer as me, just a different motherboard. You don’t think that could be the problem, do you?

    Thanks anyhow.

  54. Squish — May 12, 2008 @ 11:42 am

I am have the same problem as #18: have an Intel G965 Express Chip Set and is unsupported only mine is a gateway (sorry, it was on sale. I’ll gladly trade anyone for an X-17 Alienware though ;) ) Does anyone have a solution other than yelling at EA (Hello…, I hope I’m not the only one here who thinks that getting EA to sponcer the best game ever is the stupidest idea since… {I was going to put EA but decided not to, albeit not becoming enemies}. Isn’t there some kind of update for this problem? Cuz’ I’d rather not burn my graphix card; way to expencive (although burning things is very fun… VERY FUN.

It’s a wonder those crytechies havn’t heard of Valve (wish I had superscript right now). Would Crysis be hundreds of times more appealing if it was Valve in stead of EA. Plus there wouldn’t be any compitition against Half-Life 2 Eps. 2 (again I with I had superscript), although there really isn’t too much compitition…

the crysis demo was working for a while, but after i installed the editor, when i try to play, it just gives me a black screen and then stops. when it does this, you can see the blue bar at the bottom of the screen, and the crysis icon, for want of a better word, is only half there with no end on one side. there is no error message. i have removed the editor and reinstalled the game multiple times but it still didn’t work.

I got the demo on my XP, and i had no trouble installing it or downloading it. But when i try to start the game (by doubleclicking the icon) nothing happens!

@ people who say, there video card stopped responding and than came back.
the number one cause for this is over-heating.

Lower models can’t take high or very high, if they do, their pretty much OC’d and have bad cooling.
