Diablo 3
With the dawn of great games announced and released this year, Blizzard seems to be prepping up for another MMO as developer and designer positions for a a game tagged as “TOP SECRET” and “NEXT GEN MMO” is listed in Blizzard’s job application page. The “TOP SECRET” tag started appearing on the eve of halloween. Blizzard, earlier this year, also mentioned that they had 3 projects to announce and so far they’re done with 2 of them; World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King and Starcraft 2. So another WoW expansion or another Starcraft RTS franchise is out of the list. The only ones that could fit in the puzzle are either Starcraft Ghost or Diablo 3, but since Starcraft Ghost can can hardly become an MMO given the limitations presented by the storyline and the “Ghost”-part in the title, it can be ruled out, a MMO-style Diablo 3 project is your best bet. But of course, it can be another IP game.
Well, whatever it is, we can be sure that it’s gonna be a hit. Blizzard has been reputable for the PC games that never fails to grab hold of a #1 spot in gaming communities and maintain it for over a year. As they say, only Blizzard games can outdo a Blizzard game.
Update : Some of the “TOP SECRET” projects require Diablo I and Diablo II playing or modding experience.
KOTOR MMO
Following the announcement of the unholy alliance made by Lucas Arts and Bioware (former rivals), topics regarding speculations and theories on a Starwars MMORPG became a common sight (again) among gaming communities and forums. Earlier this month, EA bought Bioware/Pandemic for $860 million and one of the reasons of this acquisition is because of Bioware’s secret MMORPG whose potential would be worth, well, $860 million. Adding Lucas Arts to the recipe, easily brings up the possibility of a Starwars MMORPG which would easily materialize in the form of KOTOR III.
Lucas arts and Bioware has set up a cobranded website for their first project : http://www.lucasartsbioware.com/
