For those guys who updated their Vista with the KB940150 patch without knowing what it does and promptly received a message regarding SL07-001 or other SL07 Activation Exploit being detected, here are a few workarounds :

Workarounds / Solutions for SL07-001 Vista Exploit Activation Detection

“In order to continue downloading updates without installing the KB940510, all you have to do is go to windows update, right-click on the KB940510 update and chose HIDE. Then it will no longer show the KB940510 update and you CAN CONTINUE downloading all the other updates.” - Miguel

“After installing Vista KB940510 and BEFORE restarting the computer (You can check if the KB 940510 is installed or not from Install Updates list), search for all “wgaer_m*” files using Advanced Search. Make sure that you select all local drives or everywhere as searched location, and check the option to include non-indexed, hidden, and system files. You will likely see one or two files starting with wgaer_m. Delete all files found and then restart the computer. All detection will be done, and Vista computer will be working as per normal.” – VistaMe

“Skip Windows Vista SP1 for now, it seems that SP1 can detect SL07-006 and SL07-001 activation exploits.”
