Problem #1 : Fatal Error while installing Age of Conan Retail version
Solution : Run the SIMPLECONFIG program in the AGE OF CONAN folder in your harddrive after the failed installation and select VERIFY/REPAIR from there
Problem #2 : “Invalid source filesize” while updating or patching Age of Conan
Solution : Make sure that you downloaded the correct patch for your Age of Conan version. If you have the correct patch suitable for your Age of Conan client, post a more detailed error message in the comment box below.
Problem #3 : Problems connecting to Age of Conan servers, or server connection is laggy.
Solution : Make sure that your router is forward the required ports to connect to Age of Conan servers. The ports for Age of Conan are TCP/UDP : 6881 to 6889 and port 7000 for Authentication.
Problem #4 : Age of Conan Authentication Errors / Authentication Failure
Solution : There are various causes of authentication errors in Age of Conan. One of them is the Authentication server catering to more users than it can handle. Try connecting again after a couple of minutes and if the error persists, see solution B.
Solution B : You may have failed to correctly register your retail CD Key. Make sure that you entered the correct Age of Conan retail key.
Solution C : For early Age of Conan registrants, you need to Upgrade your account status with an Age of Conan retail key
Solution D : You have the wrong client installed.
To check this please open up your LocalConfig.xml file located in your install directory. To open it right click and select Edit or right click and select Open With.. and pick Notepad. Your file should look something like this:

Your patch version may be a different value so ignore that if it is. If your information is not the same as listed above you have the wrong client! If you are using the Beta Client, IGN PvP Client, or Gamespot PvP Client uninstall and install the correct client. If you attempt to connect to the live servers with any of the beta clients you will experience extereme performance issues and in most cases will not be able to connect.
IF AND ONLY IF you have a localconfig that looks like this:

Then replace it with the first one listed.
Solution E : Port 7000 is blocked, make sure that your router is forwarding packets from port 7000
Problem #5 : Key invalid or already in use, please retype
Solution : Your age of conan key is already used up. If you haven’t registered with this key yet, contact your vendor and ask for a replacement if it is possible.
Problem #6 : The patcher does not load.
Solution A : Make sure that the Age of Conan client is not open or has exited properly.
Solution B : Delete your preference file
For Vista Users : C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Funcom\Conan
For XP Users : C:\Documents and Settings\UserNameLocal Settings\Application Data\Funcom\Conan
Problem #7 : The Age of Conan Patcher loops downloads / keeps downloading the same file(s)
Solution : If the Patcher keeps wanting to download the same small patch over and over again, you can fix this by opening up your Windows Task Manager and killing the AgeofConan.exe or ConanPatcher.exe process. Also you can fix it by restarting your computer and then running the ConanPatcher.exe again.
Problem #8 : Failed to Initialize Rendering SubSystem
Solution : This generally happens because your video card does not properly support Shader Model 2.0. SM2 is required to be fully supported in order for Conan to launch. You will receive this error with very old nVidia/ATI cards. Your card may not be supported due to this. If it is and you are at the lower end of the system requirements, please do the following:
1. Start the game. When you hear the music starting, a prefs file has been written and you can edit it (in Notepad for example).
2. To find this, you must go to control panel -> folder options -> view -> turn on see hidden files and folders.
3. It is found at the following location on your PC
VISTA: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Funcom\Conan\Prefs\prefs_2.xml
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\UserNameLocal Settings\Application Data\Funcom\Conan
4. Edit the line called < Value name=”RenderSetting_ShaderModel” value=”1″ />
5. It should read <Value name=”RenderSetting_ShaderModel” value=”0″ /> (NOTE: NO spaces between “<” and “Value”).
6. Launch Age of Conan.
Problem #9 : Age of conan drd9.dll error
Solution : Delete the following files from the install directory :
- shader.cache
- shader.cache.local
- shaders_cache.bin
Problem #10 : Problem running Age of Conan on Intel Integrated Graphic cards
Solution : Several users may experience problems loading the game when using Intel integrated graphics cards. While most of these cards claim to support Shader Model 2.0 or higher in actuality they do not fully support all SM2 features. Conan requires a card that fully supports SM2 or higher to run.
You may be able to run conan with the #8 solution above.
If that does not work then there is little that can be done to make it work.
Problem # 11 : Skipping / Stuttering or cracking sounds in Age of Conan
Solution : Update your sound drivers. Make sure that you install the correct updated driver.
Problem # 12 : Error message “Age of Conan has stopped working; A problem has caused this program to stop working correctly, Windows will close a program and notify you if a solution is available”
Solution : Update your video and sound drivers
Problem # 13 (as posted by laughingmime): Whenever i start up the patcher it minimises itself to my tab bar without showing up on the pc screen (even if i double click it or minimise everything else). The patcher seems to be working as it is taking up my download speed and cpu but unsure if this is going to work.
Solution (from Laughingmime’s Boyfriend) : When you see the Age of Conan Patcher stuck in TaskBar,
1.Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open Task Manager.
2. Click Applications.
3. Select the patcher, right click and press maximize, if it still does not show, try clicking Bring to Front also.
Problem # 14 (from KevieBleeker): Age of conan starts as a blackscreen
Solution : Go to folders-
c:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Funcom\Conan\Prefs
***(If your Conan folder shows there is No “Prefs” like mine did originally, you’re gonna have to reinstall – Not re-download the whole game, just reinstall) If the Prefs folder is present, continue on… ***
Right Click Prefs_2 choose Open with..Notepad.
Find and Change

The sound is laggy and sticks when watching the intoduction video.
I just installed a new graphics card in my computer for this game. i downloaded the game and everything is working fine until i have to update some patches and it doesnt move and wont go any where. does anyone know what is wrong
@#1 homegrown : If you are getting distorted/stuttering sounds in age of conan, make sure that there are no other applications running in the background (possibly MP3 players, etc). Also, make sure that you have the most current driver for your sound card.

I have an update problem for the patcher that is telling me that CFC is corrupt and needs a fresh install . I delete everything reinstall the game and now I get a Game Explorer registration failed at Stage 3. ( HR=80004005 )
I click the ‘play’ button after the launcher verifies that everything is loading, and the game begins to start. However, after the screen remains black for about a minute, i get a standard “Widnows had to close this program” message. I’ve tried a few different things, but i dont know what the problem is.
#5 : oh you mean the AGE OF CONAN HAS STOPPED WORKING error? they say it’s related to the video and sound drivers, so try updating them and see if it works
The error is the standard Windows XP error that says “AgeofConan.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We apologise for any inconvenience etc etc” and gives you the “send” and “dont send” buttons. I updated my video card, and it still happens. Any suggestions?

If ur having the same or a similar problem, then you need to go into the Pref_2 file, locacted in:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Funcom\Conan\Prefs
and then edit the xml file. You need to change the line:
RenderSetting_shadermodel value=1
to:
RenderSetting_shadermodel value=0
that cleared up my problem
I installed the game, downloaded the 600 MB patch and played for 1-2 hours. I chenged the graphic setting from high (I have a 8800GTX nvidia )to medium and I had a crash with a re-start of all the system. Since then I cannot lunch the game. From the oldlog file you can see a long list of errors. Basically it looks like many files have been already registered with another ID. I un/reinstalled the game 3-4 times trying few things but it didn’t work. I’m not been asked to download the 600 MB after the very first installation (strange, isn’it?). I sent the files to funcom tech support but I still haven’t received a reply. I tried out all “General” solutions they suggested (i.e. running simpleconfig + verify/repair ecc..) but still no results.

I have the impression that the mega patch has created a problem with the patcher that cannot match the client files with the server’s files properly anymore (I’m not an informatic technician so forgive me if I looks naive

I cant download the new patch, just sits at the begining, deleted my pref folder and turned of firewall neither help still wont start downloading
During instalation of orginal Pre-ordered game (from DVD disc), when I inserted second disc few times I recived error “Invalid source file size” than after whole instalation was “finish” my game started patching resurce database and dwonload 16GB large files (it still doing it) Size of files with the game that are on HD are around 17GB, so I recon that some files where not instaled from the disc. Still not sure if game will run after patching. Please note that my computer spec are above recomended ones and I’m sure I have enough hard disc space

I just purchased Age of Conan and was attempting to install and patch the game, but whenever I try to patch I get a:

message. I tried to reinstall, restart, no I don’t have a firewall up to block it… I’m outta idea’s here…

YES, It is not present
Some Vista users who have problems installing/launching the game may need to “elevate privelages”, basically this means you might have to temporarily turn off UAC (user account control) found in control panel, under user accounts.
Alternatively try right clicking on the install file or icon you would launch to start the game (if its already installed), and choose “Run as Administrator”.

When i get past the loging screen and try to create a character all i can see are there hair eyes and tattoos.
If i change the graphics settings to low then i can see my character, but the game crashes after about an hour usually in more heavily populated areas. A blue screen comes up most times and tells me something about there being a problem with nv4_disp and it also mentions being caught in an infinite loop.
Cant seem to get any characters past level 5 as the game is way to unreliable.

@thordur : Theres a big chance that it’s causing the problem. It’s possible The patcher cannot adapt to your configuration.

well i know what you mean… anyways, there are a lot of people holding back from age of conan until the critical bugs get fixed and when the game improves from future patches (the UI is ugly IMO). enjoy w/e you are playing right now 
I cannot get AoC to work right. Every time I got into the character creation screen the buttons to change my characters features aren’t visable but I can click on them. I also can’t give my character a name and when I click create it just spams me saying I have to give my character a name. Finally I can’t change my settings once in the game and some of the text in the settings seems to be on top of each other.
Please help.

I tried that and it didn’t work. I’m not all computer savvy, so please tell me what to do in simple terms. I spent the money to buy this game and opened my account- I just want it to work. I have an hp pavilion entertainment PC, running vista, that is two months old. PLEASE HELP!
I am having the same problem as Soulgix.
Until this morning, I could log onto AoC with no problem.
After the patch, it crashes every time I try to start the game.
Here’s what happens:
I start the installer, and it verifies files until the game is ‘up to date.”
I hit the ‘play’ button, and the screen goes black.
2 seconds later, the bottom half of the screen shows my desktop while the top is still black.
Then the message “Age of Conan has encountered a problem and had to close…” appears.
This happens every single time now.
I reinstalled the game and patches, but no change. The sad thing is, I also cannot access the forums even though I have a retail version of the game so I can’t even find out if other people are having the same problem or have a solution.
This just sucks, and the lack of Funcom support doesn’t help.

Computer Shuts down every time before I get a chance to log into the server. I installed and patched the game fine. The game’s update was complete. I click play and a splash screen asked for user name and password and Boom, everything shuts down and my computer turns off.

i have had all these problems and then some have fixxed most but currently i will be getting ok fps and good connection and game just stops responding and crashes my comp …i will play this game oneday if just for spite
Ok, So I Was running the game fine when it just closed out and now my Launcher will not come up *like when you click the icon* I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled many times and it still does it. But when i try to uninstall it says it cannot delete the ConanPatcher, so i have to make a new folder just to reinstall but nothing happens. My launcher will not come up and i cannot delete any files that cannot be uninstalled.
Also, I cannot find:
c:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Funcom\Conan\Prefs
The path ends when I can’t find “Local Settings.”
I even used the search tool to find it but no luck.
As soon as I login it plays the music in the background, the hard drive runs and then….nothing. The hard drive stops but the login screen and music are still there.
There might be an error message but because its windows it won’t show it to me.
Ctrl-Alt-Del and the windows key do nothing.
Mouse still responds but thats it.

Hi, so i was just playing aoc on the 27th all day and been doing so since early acces with no problems… then i log out of the game and come back later to find this on the log in screen, Authentication failure. please note that passwords are case sensitive.
Been trying everything but no luck yet.

Hey guys, I am getting the same problem as thordur.
Been looking everywhere for a solution..
Also too the icon never loads into Start menu or desktop, and running it from C: brings up a LONG list of errors in a DOS screen.

The patcher will download very slowly (20kb/s) and after a while will just stop forever, i am not using a router and i have all my anti-virus and firewall off. I have tried downloading it by restarting it everytime it freeze but it messes up the data and wants me to download a 15GB patch i try to fix this for 4 days when it came out and gave up. If anyone has any ideas how to fix this please tell me

Josh : did you adjust the settings in the tweak via simpleconfig? if not, try it from there. if not, what video card are you using? lets see if someone with the same video card as you has that prob
Seksy : well first of all, that solution is for people who have their patcher refuse to start maximized. check if the patcher is consuming your bandwidth by checking if your download speed is high when you have the patcher on. If it is, you can leave your patcher on for a while and hope that it finishes downloading whatever patch it is downloading.
Bigwyrm : have you tried running Age of conan as administrator? if not right click on the executable, make a shortcut out of it, rightclick on that shortcut you’ve just made > properties >advanced > run as administrator

Nate : If you need to delete some files and it wont let you because windows tells you that it is in use, try restarting your PC. So check first if a computer restart will fix age of conan. If it wont, restart your pc then try the problem #13 workaround for the launcher. Also try running age of conan as administrator.
Bigwyrm : oh, you need to enable the “show hidden files” in windows. If it is not there, you’ll need to reinstall age of conan
Jud : your system specs pls. Have you tried the problem #14 fix?
Thorkk : That’s unfortunate.. it’s possible that the ATI All-in-wonder does not have the pixel shader support for Age of Conan. You may try the solution for problem #8 or #14
Ziloh : Ah yes, early access.. have you upgraded your early access with the retail key? hmm since you mentioned everything had been fine since may 27 maybe you did. K.. post the last 10 lines in your Ageofconan.log and lets see wether your client just cant connect or if you had your password wrong. lets hope its “ERROR Launcher – Got an Universe Manager authentication failure, errorcode 1″ or “ERROR Launcher – Connection to the Universe Manager at “aoc-us-um.live.ageofconan.com:7000″ failed” since there are available workarounds for those errors

Soulgix : about logging into the forum, you need to register a forum account for that and associate it with your age of conan key. the Age of conan forums does not allow visitors without a valid account to enter.
Aiden : reinstall to fix the problem. THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU SHOULD DL THAT 15 GB PATCH LOL.but seriously man, a lot of people had that prob too and all they did was reinstall the client then got 100mb – 200mb patches instead. Maybe it has to do womething with corrupt install or a file that got changed.

I have the same problem as Borris. I orininally couldn’t run the game past the character creation screen but fixed this by updating my gfx card drivers. I can get in the game now but after a few minutes I get blue screen of death with the message that there is an infinite loop stop error with the NV4_disp file or whatever it is…
I run the game on a 7300 SE (this could be the problem right here
) and on minimal settings.
Any ideas?

I tried running it as administrator as u suggested to bigwyrm but it says Blank passwords are not allowed and i dont have a password for administrator.
Dunno if is worth mentioning but i started the game on Administrator account, always the same anoying error

Also, I currently run the computer on its default profile, which is HP Administrator.
There is a regular ‘administrator’ file, but I’ve never used it so I don’t know what the password is. Can you tell me how to find it?
Btw, I’m normally not so noobish when it comes to computers.
Lastly, you kick ass because it’s now been over 24 hours since the game won’t launch and I’ve sent several emails to Funcom with no response. They need to change their name because this is anything but fun.
I still cannot access the forums.
Every time I try to create a new forum login, I just get the screen that lets me change my login info. Every time I do this, I still cannot gain access (even after waiting much longer than 30 mins). When I try to log in to the U.S. forums, it says my information is incorrect. When I try to get my password sent to my email address, it says that my email is not recognized even though it is clearly visible in my account info.
I just wonder what the hell has to happen to actually receive any support through FunCom.

I found a Solution for the “windows had to close this program etc. etc.” preventing you from opening AoC.
Is all cos of the file framedyn.dll not present in system 32 folder but only in system32/wben folder. I just copied from system32/wben to system32 folder
Then, to be on the safe side, i also followed this guide from microsoft, which will make the system look for the file not in system32 folder but in system32/wben folder.

cake i have a question. i downloded the game and it was good. but then when i have to download the patch it freezes and wont move for like 10 hours than it will move and than freeze for another 10 hours. at this rate it will take 2 weeks for it to finish. i already tryed to take my fire wall down and nothing happens what should i do to make it go faster.
i always get the problem of after 10 mins or so i get a message saying “could not download patch as ran out of hard drive space when i have 144gbs space. this happens in game. any one les got this error ??

Cake, you should add Soulgix’s fix for the crash that occurs after pressing the ‘play’ button on the launcher. It seems to fix the problem.
When I start Age Of Conan and come through the patch window my screen just starts flickering and that’s it. I can get in and out with ctrl – alt – delete, but that isn’t the problem. Looks like a graphic related problem… In a few words I can’t get to play the game…

A minute or so after start AoC, it raises an error (text rendered inside a game window, the client doesn’t crash):
“Failed to complete update, your system is running out of disk space. Please free up additional…” etc.
There’s 16Gb of 75Gb free on the disk on which AoC is installed, which is also the system disk.
Well I get even another error everytime I (try to) play. Sometimes it’s right when I click the play button, sometimes when im 2 minutes into the game. It’s an error called ‘Assertion failed’. well.. I regret buying this game already

. My computer crashes every single time I reach the login screen. I can install the game and can update completely fine but it just crashes at the login screen.

Vista users who have game crashes/errors of stopped responding etc can use the vistas built in tool called “problem reports and solutions” found in the control panel.
Use the “View Problem History” to see older entries and also you can right click an entry and “check again for solutions”.
All Vista users will benefit from having Service Pack 1 installed (SP1), check your windows updates manually, look at “available updates” and if you are offered updates for sound or graphics install them.
*All the above does apply to other games of course but anything that can help any of you I think should be mentioned.
** If anybody can give me any pointers as to why FPS is as low as 9 or 10 on a pc that more than meets recommended specs, I would like to hear from you please …… my little lad is driving me mad

Seems to down load the same patch when I go into the AoC directory and run the Conan Patcher.
File sizr is about 13mg, I have never d/loaded a patch exactly 600mb but I have easily d/loaded more.
I have got to a point where it says AoC is now up to date and when I click “Play” nothing happens. If I then goto the pacher again it d/loads more file – current downloading a 1.3gig patch.crazy I know.
Simple config does not turn up any issue and doing another install I think is in vein..
Does anyone know a site you can visit to get a patch and can anyone list the actual file sizes we should all be getting on the Conan Patcher?

I’m having an interesting issue with the patcher. I install the game fine, then run the patcher. It downloads a few small patches then starts in on a 100mb-ish patch. It gets almost to the end, the very last file in fact, then the transfer speeds just slow down to nothing and sits there. Tried essentially everything. Restart patcher, reboot, reinstall. Firewall is disabled. I’ve checked for fixes and I’ve not found anyone having this same problem. I threw in a ticket with funcom but from the sounds of things that sounds like a lost cause. Any ideas?
I have the exact same problem as #11 Tobiasz, i put the first disk in, it DLed and it asked for 2nd disk, i would put it in and nothing would happen. then i put in first disk and redid all of this a few times, when i put in first disk it said play age of conan, so i clicked it and a patcher came up. It started to download a huge 16g patch lastnight at 10:30, it was about halfway at 7:30 this morning… idk wtf is going on, BUT I WANNA PLAY MY ASSASSIN! /cry
Oh and my computer is well above reccommended. 4g ram i hvae 2 external hard drives, and an 8800 nvidia geforce, but it is a Apple, but i downloaded vista lastnight too, its like installing macs retarded cousin, o well i like to help the disabled.
I’m having serious problem with my retail version of Conan.
I had no account created when I bought the game so I started from scratch.
I installed the game, and it went without problem, and it patch up to date. I created an account with the activation key, after that the problems started.
After the intro movie I came to the log screen to enter my username and pass, when I tried to enter the screen freezed. I tried it one more time with the same result.
After a 3rd try the next morning I was able to log on. Then I went into the settings panel and did some changes, after I pressed “ok”/apply, then there was a black screen and the computer restarted automatically.
After this I have not even been able to start the game. When I try press the shortcut icon on my desktop the computer start thinking for about 10 secounds, then nothing happens.
I then tried to start the game through the .exe icon in the installion directory, when I got error mesage of Assertion Failure:

I have tried to reinstall the game about 5 time, without any result. It just won’t start, except for the strange Beta? window I can’t log in to. I also noticed that when I reinstall the program does not patch up everything like it did the first time. It only patches up
a small file on a couple of MB, then.. nothing.
I also have had trouble login in to the forum. I don’t know if these problems are linked together somehow, but how many times I yet edit my forum username and password in my account settings, the forum site keeps telling me I have entered a wrong name/pass.
When I try to click the lost password function, it tells me my password I have entered in my account is not recognizable.
Anyone had the same problems?

The launch has been a complete abortion so far.
Great if you can play. But if you can’t, you’re stuck for days without any support at all.

Ok so i have a more than qualified system to run AoC. So i was crashing earlier and i researched thought it was a sound problem got a sound card. Then after install i turn it on and now for some reason its runs fine for a min to 5 min then it stutters and i get amazingly strange graphical errors. Like textures all in diffrent places and what not. Then if sometimes after that initial stutter it hard freezes sometimes and i have to reboot. I am at a loss anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

Game worked fine up until lvl 13 or so when i attempted to go into daytime play. As soon as i did this i was besieged with lag, graphical tears and eventually a complete freeze. Since this i have installed all the latest drivers, forwarded ports 6881-6889 and 7000 and reduces settings to minimum and still problems occur. I started a new char and same again, the problems only hit once i attempt to enter the daytime aspect of the game. Any ideas chaps?

Having the same problem as a few people who bought the eu retail version of AoC. Get a LOT of “invalid source file” errors at the install. When you have fully patched the game and try start it nothing happens, run the verify/repair program and it pops up with a 10gb + download. Dunno about anyone else but after about 5 hours the server times you out and the download finishes. which is crap because the download doesnt save onto disk so it starts again. I HATE funcom for this, they deserve a slap. anyone got the same problem/soluction?

ok guys, heres a work around:
Go into the installation folder were AoC is installed. Look for the following file and copy it elsewhere for safe keeping:
ConanPatcher.exe.1.tmp
Rename the original one that is in the AoC install folder to : ConanPatcher.exe
Then double click it to run the patching software. If it falls over again, the patch is knackered and we’ll have to wait till they redo it. Wait till later and do the above again.

Well I have been playing with 0 issues all the way to level 26. Then after todays patch I am having major shutdown. I have a Windows VISTA – Phenom – 6GB RAM – 8800GT. The issue is after I login and start playing within a few minutes I get the blue screen of death with a memory dump and I have to do a hard shutdown. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I am experiencing problem #8 and I have a vista computer. When I go through my files I can’t find the prefs_2.xml file. I followed the instructions exactly as it said above… but my prefs folder is empty… what does this mean?
I am kinda experiencing the same as Jud, AoC starting up, i get to see like 5 seconds of the main menu, it freezes, sound is still on though, and cursor. When its frozen it shows some really messy textures. I saw you said we should use the fix #14. Is there no other way than to uninstall the game, install it again, over and over again till we get the prefs?

I have downloaded most of the patches, but once it gets towards the end it just stops downloading, i do not receive any error messages, the speed just goes to zero. Any help would be appreciate, i am running xp, and have tried uninstallling/reinstalling netc.

For all of you having your patch freezing after a while, I solved the problem. I tried everything on this messageboard and more without result. I solved the problem by simply connecting directly with cable to my router instead of using wireless connection and turned off the router’s firewall. That was it! Hope this helps some frustrated guys out there! Good luck! Let me know!

I installed AoC and it started downloading the patches, the patches suddenly stopped downloading, so i pressed cancel but that just exited the downloading thing, theres no sign of AoC on my desktop or in the start menu or whatever. I try to run to game from the cd but it doesnt do anything.

hello, my mate just got age of conan and he had downloaded it. But when he goes to start patching it is stops and starts. its like is frezzing. And when he goes to open a program his computer laggs out and crashes. So i told him to goto task manager and check the cpu usage. And he told me is was higher that the ’system idle proccesser’(ranging between 90-99). But when he ends the AoC patching proccesser he computer becomes really fast again. Can you please help me fix the problem so he can start playing.

Every time i start the game up it crashes in the loading screen or 5-10 minutes inside the game! i already updated my drivers (video and sound), disabled sound, deleted shader files and it still doesnt work!!

Getting the “Patch, Click Play, Crash” bug. I’ve tried the framedyn.dll fix, defragging hard drive, bink tools fix, reinstalling, bypassing movie files, running as administrator, running under new acct, maybe some others that I’m forgetting. Visual studio tells me that this is what’s happening right before the crash (the error code is always 1282 and the last dll to load is usually imagehlp.dll, 95% of the time):

I installed the game, downloaded the 600 MB patch and played for 1-2 hours. I chenged the graphic setting from high (I have a 8800GTX nvidia )to medium and I had a crash with a re-start of all the system. Since then I cannot lunch the game. From the oldlog file you can see a long list of errors. Basically it looks like many files have been already registered with another ID. I un/reinstalled the game 3-4 times trying few things but it didn’t work. I’m not been asked to download the 600 MB after the very first installation (strange, isn’it?). I sent the files to funcom tech support but I still haven’t received a reply. I tried out all “General” solutions they suggested (i.e. running simpleconfig + verify/repair ecc..) but still no results.
I have the impression that the mega patch has created a problem with the patcher that cannot match the client files with the server’s files properly anymore (I’m not an informatic technician so forgive me if I looks naive )
Pls help this poor middleage man who waited for 2 years this game and can’t play it since 23 of May ,pls pls

i have 8800GTX nvidia 2 , i think its the graphic card.
as for “Ragingconan” solution.
it helped me get all the patchs , which is really nice. but after that when i want to start the game i get an error that the game is already running. after a couple of tries the game and the patcher don’t load again (back to step 0)
Cake i did something that fixed my problem. i created a new user for my windows and click on the AoC , had to update one thing then worked.
so most of the problems get stuck to ur profile, as for me i have never seen a prefs file tell after the new user.
Brizzy, Try to reïnstall Internet explorer with an older version. That fixed it for me.
ITS FIXED!! if someone has a driver error or something try the new BETA driver from Nvidia and then play the game in windowed mode!! now i wont crash anymore!!

Hi all, after trying anyhing i ve found on the net im totally desperate with AoC. To begin my computer :
Dell XPS m1710, 7950 GTX, Core Duo 2Ghz, 2 Gig of Ram.
My problem :
The game is running really smooth and i have a pretty godd FPS after custom settings BUT everytime i meet another player while a play im getting kind of stuttering and my fps falls down for a few seconds and then come back to normal after the player leaves the area ! I have tried everything i could find, clean XP install almost 10 video drivers etc….
Plz help…imagine how unplayable it is in cities or instances…
I’ve had a problem with crashes the entire time I’ve had the game installed, but starting 3 days ago the crashes have started happening often when loading, and more frequently in game, when I actually manage to log on. This is from the windows error message that pops up before the pop-up to send error info to funcom.

I seem to have fixed my d3dx9_36.dll crashes by disabling the audio, by unchecking the “Audio System Enabled” setting. Ive loaded maybe 30 times, seems all is good.

but when i replace it with the mentioned one, game starts announcing that US servers are online and refusing my login password.
Moreover, it does not seem logical to me to replace EU server with US server when I am in Europe.
Trying to troubleshoot this error:

No Error Logs are being generated, and there doesn’t seem to be a Funcom folder generated in AppData.
We’ve tried reinstalling and a few other fixes found here and on the AoC technical boards with no luck.

It takes my system some time, but I can log into the game servers and am able to select the server I want to play, but after that, I can’t do anything. Whenever I click create (a new character) I get the loading page and it loads, but then my screen blackens out then creates kind of a window mode. I can partially see my desktop and then a large black portion that usually takes up the majoriity of my desktop (this is the game running). I can hear the sound playing but after a few seconds, the sound will get caught in a loop, then fix itself, but that usually leads into a “Not Responding” error by my computer and it shuts off.
I’ve tried making my graphics the lowest possible, but that doesn’t do anything. I’ve turned off my sound thinking it might not be 2.0, but that does nothing either.
My system is as follows:
Pentium 4 3.0E GHZ 800MHZ 1MB (dual core)
1GB DDR ram (2 X 512)
Geforce PCX5750 128 MB DDR video Card
I know I have the minimum requirements, but I don’t know if it’s the Video Card or the Ram that’s causing my problem. If anyone could help me out, I’d appreciate it.
Patcher freezes part way through and Task Manager shows CPU utlization for AgeOfConan to be extremely high (in excess of 85%). All machine functions seem very slow.
This seems to be caused by an incompatibility with CA Anti-Virus. Pausing the Anti-Virus before patching and restarting the Anti-Virus immediately after patching appaers to get around the problem.
Sorry if this is double or triple posted. I have tried everything, from changing DVD regions to reinstalling the drives, but nothing fixes my problem. When I insert my AoC disks, neither of them work or do anything. The computer completely ignores them after a bit of loading noises. All other disks and dvds and all work on my computer except the AoC ones. And what’s more, the AoC disks work on other computers, but I need it on the one which ignores them. Can you help?

Hey, i have the click play, the ageofconan.exe has encountered an error, problem. Iv tried nearly everything now and nothing seems to work. I have all the requirements to play and i have played it before a patch came out. After that i got the crash, Iv tried most things on here like the framedy.dll file replaced that and iv replaced the system/wbem path. Iv created a new windows user. And yet nothing.

I am also getting the exact same problem as Ryan. I click play after updating, am shown a brief black screen, and then it gives me a “Must close Age of Conan” error. I, too, have tried changing the xml files, moving the .dll file, and trying on other accounts. I have been unable to play for days now; if anyone has any advice I would be very appreciative.
For me for ech time I need to rezz my toon there is a chance of apx 30% the client will crash, note, ALL my systems drivers are definitely up to date, including Mainboard chipsetdrivers and BiOS.
durring installation i get resource xx = a number (different each time i try to install it) invalid file size! and after i get a few of these i get the almighty blue screen of death and have to do a windows restore.

my problem is I login i get to choose a server then I hit the create character button and when the load screen starts up and get to the middle or end a standard windows XP error message appears.“AgeofConan.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We apologise for any inconvenience etc etc” and gives you the “send” and “dont send” buttons. and thats what I get.
I’ve installed and fully patched the game successfully. The only problem is when I select realm and than I click create new character. It than goes to a loading page where I see the bar move to the end and before it gets to the actual character selection part it just pops up an error message and shuts down everytime at this same point. I don’t know why. Please help me.

I got the some problem as Ryan to. Crashes everytime i hit “play” bottum in the conan patcher. I got the newest driver for my eVGA 8800GTS 640 mb. Dont know why it have started crashing. I look at the Pref files and changed the ShaderModel value from “-1″ to “0″ and back to “-1″ and still dont work.
BTW. sure you guys who say you dont have the pref files really dont have them? You need to go to your controle panel,
1. To find this, you must go to control panel -> folder options -> view -> turn on see hidden files and folders.
2. It is found at the following location on your PC

I got a really nice config that should work perfectly with this game but the game crash and windows vista tell me it will notify me when they find a solution.
The crash happen at the login screen when i put all my login information and press login, verification start and the program close.
Whenever i try to run the game i get an error message that says “Failed to intialize subsstem. Your system does not support Shader Model 2.0 or Higher, which is the minimum spefication for Age of Conan – Hyborian advenutes”
and yet when i try to fix it through the process that number 8 says too, i still get the same error message, could it be that my video card is too low to still play, im running an radeon 9200.

Was able to run LOTRO on highest graphics setting at 80fps, but can only run AOC at 25fps at lowest video settings. I have all the latest ATI drivers, AOC patches, and SP1 Vista. Anyone have any ideas?
Hey guys! Finally got a fix! Ok, first off delete ur shader.cache shader.cache.local and your other shader, then repair aoc, then go to prefs from solution 13 on this page and do exactly that, then load up AoC in minimized screen. And walah Its done! Im well happy coz i tried nearly everything else. If this doesnt work use everything from eu forums like changing that path and then try this. It worked for me when other things didnt. Im on it now! thanks guys
I can install the game see everything up to the login screen and then when i try to see my character i crash. Unexpected error blah blah blah. Addtionally i have specced bare minimums to the game. updated all drivers and everything. Please help!!
How exactly does one “repair” AoC?
I had the same problem as Brad #113 and I was also having the same issue as he was . I’m running Vista Ultimate 64 bit , before I got the game to install I made sure all my drivers ie.. Motherboard, Video , sound card all had the latest 64 bit Vista drivers.
I also done the same thing as he did to get it installed , I couldn’t get it to install in the program folder so I installed it in my Documents folder.
When it came up as local path for install in Vista it was something like Local C:/Program File x 86AgeofConan.exe. Instead of letting it install there I clicked custom and chose my Documents folder for installation . It installed there without any problems I am also using a router so be sure to have your port set to accept the packets from 7000.
So far since I’ve done all those things I’ve not had any problems playing , so maybe those solutions will help someone else out .
Hey, I disabled kaspersky AV while downloading the latest patch because the speed decreased to zero, disabling kaspersky helped in a earlier patch… But this time I disabled it, the patcher came up right away in the middle of the DL, rather than a speed increase. With the messages:
“Extracting ConanPatcher.exe
CRC failed in ConanPatcher.exe
Unexpected end of archive”
and a error pop-up:
“Some installation files are corrupt.
Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation.”
would appreciate any help very much, google did not help me finding this “fresh copy”. Also, I know re-installing AoC works, I did this earlyer, with my internet connection it almost take a whole day to download the patches. So Im looking for a another solution. thanx! ;X

when running AOC the downloader starts up and downloads but within a minute The PC Blue screens. Almost every time the system BSODs with a differnt stop code and references a different file. This continues after removing questionable ram (Ram failed tests sometimes but not every time) and running chkdsk -r multiple times.

im at the Patching Resource Database.. patch its a 664MB fill download and i knw my PC has room for this game, i just got a 500Gb external Hard Drive and i have a nividia G-card
but still somethings F’ed up about this, ok i install and let it run the patches but at the patch Patching Resource Database.. the 664MB thing, it starts out at 256MB already DLed and 1/6720 and time at –:–:– and then after about 20 minutes it will start runing but only for like 3 sec’s, and does this 3 to 4 times then just STOPS at…

someone PLEASE help me. I have two problems currently when I patch AoC it locks up and will not transfer any data and looks to lock up the processor as well. I have a opened p all the ports, disabled AV and firewalls. Yet it still locks up when downloading, if I kill the process and restart it same thing happens not necessarily in the same spot. I am running WinXP Media edition with an ATI Radeon HD 3400 series, AMD Athlon 64 3200+ with 2 gigs of ram, a Realtek RTL8139/810x
Cannot install the game because it errors on the first disk part where it installs the movie files, then on the second install screen it keeps asking to put in disk one, which is already in the drive. So I tell it to ignore the movie files which is probably a bad idea anyway, but that won’t fix it thinking I’ve got the wrong friggin disk in the drive.
I found a problem that doesn’t say on this page, and other pages as well.
When you press Age of Conan.exe you will get a pop-up that says “Unable to locate client installation folder etc etc.”
The thing you have to do is to make a .txt file in your Age of Conan folder (example: C:\Programfiles\Funcom\Age of Conan). Then you write in the .txt whatever the name of the path to the Age of Conan folder (example: C:\Programfiles\Funcom\Age of Conan). Then you just name the .txt file for InstallInfo and the problem would be solved
I installed AOC on a intel 64bit quad core with 4 g Ram and a nvidea 8800GTX running Vista ultimate 64. When the game launches I hear the sound but all I get is either a black screen with a cursor or flickering horizontal black bands. Reinstalling my updated nvidea drivers, changing the page file to a fixed value 2x of the ram, 1x of the ram and no page file, disabling my secondary monitor and reducing the res on the remaining one to XGA, Running the vista memory diagnostics (no problems).
I am about ready to go out and buy a 32bit OS or a ATI graphics card but I’m not sure if that will address the issues. Any advise would be appreciated!

Today is June 17 at 1:10 am and I logged on to play Conan and it starts patching finishes patching scans local files and when it gets done importing files it gives me an Error Code 103 and to contact support.
I’ve tried several times to reinstall the patch and it’s back to giving me the same thing Error Code 103 need to contact support . Everything was running good until this latest patch.
I even did the verify/repair Database and no errors were found .
Any advice to help me out and get back to playing ?

I am having the patch downloading problem I have installed it on an alienware Dual SLI 8GB xp pro laptop and can’t get that 600MB patch to complete. it starts off OK but then slows down to nothing and just sits there. I have done everything I can think of ie bypass router, disable CA antivirus, disable windows firewall, I even telneted to the IP on AOC tech support site on port 7000 without problems. I then installed the game on a HP desktop VISTA machine with 4gb ram 8800 gtx and 1TB of storage and ran into the exact same problem. I emailed funcom but after reading the posts I don’t expect to hear back from them. I would love to play this game it looks like a nice WOW/Diablo mix but no luck so far. I have reinstalled 3 times and get the exact same problem each time. arggggg

I just bought Age of Conan on the 15th of June. I installed the game and when i got to the patch, it would get less then 2% the way complete and stop. It would go a tiny bit more, then stop. Today is June 17th. Last night, June 16th I started to download the new patch and would let it run throughout the night and while I was at school. IT GOT 15% COMPLETE AND DIDNT SHOW ANY OTHER PROGRESS!!! Please tell me how to fix this!!! I already deleted my Pref file and that didn’t help crap. So please help me with this problem. I have all the recommended computer specs and 4/5 bars on my internet at all times. If the game doesn’t decide to work for god knows why, I’m just thinking of going back to boring ol World of Warcraft.

Is the message I recive as soon as the patch finishes downloding… been wating forever to play this game, even bought a brand new supped up vista 64 comp for it (way above requirements).

To those confused, it will redownload the file (which is 13 or 32 megs, I forget) then it will download the patch which is around 100ish megs. So if its doing that then yes it is working =)

I had the same problem as #175. I contacted AoC customer service for help – they told me to do the following, which worked for me:
1. Delete the RDBHashIndex.bin file located in the \Age of Conan\RDB folder
2. Run ConanPatcher.exe to start the client
Apparently, doing this replaces the RDBHashIndex.bin file with a corrected one.

I found a fix for the error of
Age of Conan is already running. Age of Conan can only support running multiple sessions from different installation folders…
Programers are aware of this issue and are working on a fix.
In the mean time, When you load your patcher also bring up your task monitor Ctrl,Alt,Delete. You should see a program called Conanpatcher.exe Once you hit play cancel that program in your task monitor.
The error is caused because the patcher exe runs too long in the background and the game closes because it sees a session is already running. Canceling from the task monitor works for me.
I just installed AOC two days ago and before I could play I had to update it. There is a 700MB patch and when it gets to “Updating content” it will start updating it at like 200 KB/s and then all of a sudden just freeze. I have left it for hours and it never unfreezes, I have reinstalled and re-ran the patcher several times. Any suggestions?

Regularily out of memory crashes in Vista 32 Bit?
Run this in MS-DOS prompt:
bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072
32bit Vista can only use 3Gbs, if you have 4Gb+ AOC breaks, its bad coding. It forces Vista to only use 3Gbs at startup.
Try that, reboot and you’ll find you have no more out of memory errors.
To remove this setting, use:
bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa
I got a new error today while downloading the patch and it was Error 105 need to contact Funcom Support.
i upgraded my computer to windows vista yesterday, and when i installed age of conan on it and restarted my computer, when i tried to launch it it said error code 150 about a file missing from localconfig.xml or something like that and said to constact customer support or try re installing it, so i re installed it and it did the same thing again. can anyone help please?

I bought and installed the game, but whenever it goes to patch, the window minimizes to my bar and there is no way to make it maximize. I looked at my internet, and my computer is receiving lots of packets, even though the minimized AoC patching window is the only thing running. After a while (around 20 minutes) I stop receiving packets, but nothing else changes.

I reinstalled the Game and tried again, with the same error.
I ran SimpleConfig, and it said there was nothing wrong with my installation.
I fixed my problem. It was a simple mistake-make sure you have the right screen resolution.

go to AoC Root folder.
go to RDB Folder.

@ #6!!!! i figured it out. obviosly a little different for each comp. but if your patch stops downloading close to end and never gets there like mine did in the 600mb patch and such others, mine had been like that for about a week now, i have spysweeper and firewall on my netgear router and all i did was shut down spysweeper and stop firewall for the patch at it worked! so just figure out what protections you have and try and stop it for downloads
I also have another start up problem with Conan, i have stopped relying on the funcom customer service since it straight up SUCKS. i just installed my AoC game and the installation went fine, but when i started the game, there was NO patch. This is a retail CD i bought from a game store so there should have been a patch, instead it just leads me to the login windows right away. I am getting Error Code 115 when ever I try to download the 14mb patch. Any ideas on how to get past this. Funcom has not responded to me.

You are using AgeofConan.exe w/o downloading/installing the new patch. Go to the AgeofConan folder (Funcom) on your hard drive and click on ConanPatcher, which “should” start the process of downloading the new patch.
I bought the game a week ago, installed, downloaded updates, able to play no problem. Since the new patch, I have been unable to download it. The Patcher starts the download, but the bytes per second, keeps reducing until it reaches 0 and it just stops. I have freed up port 7000-7999. Turned off firewall/anti-virus/spyware, I have called my ISP. I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times, I have deleted the file “RDBHashIndex.bin” all with no luck. I have gotten the patcher (or the patcher just did it itself) to download 16.8 mb of the 94+ mb file, but most it quits at around 208 kbs. I have no options left… and yes Funcom Customer Service Sucks B&*$S!!!!!!

I have the exact same problem. download begins at a high speed, suddenly stops and the bytes per sec just reduces itself to 0.

Yes, I did find a solution to the Patcher going idle problem. Go to http://www.sysinternals.com and download TCPView. Once downloaded right click on the executable file and choose “Run As Administrator.” Launch Age of Conan, you will see once instance of the program in TCPView, wait for the patcher to open, then there will be two instances of AoC. One will have WAIT_CLOSE and the other (patcher) will have ESTABLISHED. When the bytes start to decrease and its obvious the patcher is going idle, right click on the instance that is ESTABLISHED and choose “close connection.” This will force close the connection and a new connection will open. You will see the patcher start up again. You will need to continue to do this until the update is fully downloaded. This is a slow process and depending on how much you have to download could be lengthy. But trust me, there is no other solution at this time for this problem. Funcom, tech support, is forwarding the thread in the forums as the solution. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game (Which did not work) so I have all the updates to download this way. I am on a 1.55 gb download now. The only good thing about it is that even if you close out the patcher before its done downloading, you don’t lose the portion you have already download, just picks up where you left off. Good Luck.

Hey i have played since the release on xp and have now changed to vista 64 to support my 4 gigs of rams!
But the whole reason i did it was this game and now i cant even star the installer: noop.exe!!!! PLease help me you guys im desperate
when i start to patch the game ota starts ok downloading at 800 kb/s then i get blue screen any ideas how to solve this?
Authentication failure, none of the above solutions worked.
After testing if the verify/repair would help my screen started blinking black and visible. Possibly hardware issue, but no trouble before AoC though.

ok i have bought the Age of Conan from my local EB games store, i’ve installed the game n now for the past week or so i’ve been trying to update the game but the patcher starts up then stops i have no idea y i restarted the update over n over n it starts to download but stops after afew seconds, atm i am at 226 KB / 6.75 MB – 5/46 – 62.1 KB/s – 00:01:48
thats what i am stuck on it will not get any bigger then that, i am on a network n my ani’virus n firewall r turned off n i can not turn the router off for other reasons, anyone able to help me, please ? i really want to play this game.

What is wrong with this game?
I downloaded the whole game, and then when i went to launch it, it said i would do better if i install something. I installed something, and restarted my computer. I went back on and i put the disc in but nothing came up. I put both discs in but it wont show anyting. I went through all my files and i have no record ofeven PLAYING the game. Its like it didnt download? how do i re download it or get my !@$@ing money back?
I have installed AOC twice now, and each time I can play right away but when I close the game, the icon does not appear on desktop nor anywhere in programs, even in the suggested game tab near solitaire or chess. The game does also not run when i put cd in, just able to uninstall or install again. I have vista, what do i do? pleaseee

hey i have been getting 2 errors at first i could only play aoc at highest grapics or my toons would be invisible and after i tried to fix some laag now i cant even logon,, i get to the char selection screen and i chose my toon then it loads and reboots my pc.. any ideas? heres my pc stats

hello,i was down loading the game,and the updates stop..hmm so i O.o turned off the PC and reconected again..waited 3 hours before doing this,got a error “Age of Conan Update Manager requires a 32 bit display depth,please change your settings and try again” i checked my settings and they where AT 32 HIGH,i did everthing i thought i should…dont really know a whole lot,i uninstalled game,upated my drivers,window XP,and DirectX and reinstalled game,np till the disks where done then the same error apeared,again i checked the display settings and they where set as required,i have firewalls down,and anti virus disabled if that helps trouble shoot the problem,plenty of space for the game…and my PC is well beyond the needed requirements to run …can someone plz help me,Robert Howard is one of my favorite authors and to step into Hyboria…well i have waited for this since i was a kid… and ran home with a used paperback in hand and sat down,out of breath..opened the worn cover and stepped into the world of Conan,and my heart has not been far from it since that day…sorry to stray off topic,can some one assist me,if you need more information i will provide it as i am able.Thank you.

this goes on for 5 mins or so then the download counter freezes completly
i can still click on cancel and the other buttons
this is frustrating trying to download a 1 gig patch like this
I installed Age of Conan but then a window opened wich said:
“Installation files are corrupt please download a fresh copy and retry the installation”
Then I click OK and now when I click on the shortcut,it says that the application wasn’t found and also when I click the

Hello. I think I should win an award for a problem ocuring earliest in their Age of Conan experience.
I have purchased an activation code and a prepaid game code from paybycash.com ( I normally would be skeptical about doing this, but this site was referred to by the Age of Conan support pages. )
My problem is…. I can’t register my account.. gah.
I have had email communication with support staff, and have provided them with both of my keys.
I am able to enter the registration page with my activation code, fill in all of my information, submit… then I get a ‘registration failed,,the site admin has been notified, please try again later’ error.
I then receive 2 emails from funcom, one saying my registration has been successful, the other saying my download of the game is ready.
I cannot log in using the user/psswd I provided, and the support staff have told me the username hasn’t been registered. When I provided every bit of information to the support staff, other than a password, they told me they could not create an account for me, but that I should enter the information I provided them, and that I should be fine. 12 attempts later.. nothing.
Ever hear of anyone else having this issue? I am already regretting paying the money for this,,and I havent even logged in yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. i have this problem that when i launch Age of conan and login, the background just disepeers and i cant see the figure! And ingame the landskape is goone. I only see trees and some other things. not laggy or anything but all the details are gone.. What do i do? please write
well i got a amd 6000+ 3.10 ghz dual core a nvida 7050 pv 630 a intergrated video card up to date and 4 gigs ram and conan is shit it runs so slow on my system i cant even run it on the low of the lowest settings its so funny
So yeah, i buy your game, spend an hour waiting for it to install. It ‘installs’ (finishes installation and runs to the auto-patcher, odd thing is i cannot find the game, or its files -anywhere- on my hard drive) then goes into that auto-patcher window as if once its done you can go ahead and play…. well id love to tell you IF I COULD GET THAT FAR. The thing straight up crashes. i recieve a crash log report and boop! it shuts itself down… ive spent 20 hours trying different ways to install this and i am begining to lose my patience. there an issue with your patches? (before you ask, my computer’s requirements more than qualify) Seriously, i could use some help right about now…

If ur having the same or a similar problem, then you need to go into the Pref_2 file, locacted in:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Funcom\Conan\Prefs
and then edit the xml file. You need to change the line:
RenderSetting_shadermodel value=1
to:
RenderSetting_shadermodel value=0
that cleared up my problem
theres nothing in my apllication data folder though. and i cant download the patches cause i keep geting a error. so what do i do?

since one of the updates -cant recall which – i have been having problems loggin in the game – while the reading content screen is showing.
the bar is running but when it gets to the end – nothing.
same thing happens when moving from place to place – city to city.
only thing that sometimes helps – not always and not strait away – is disconnecting my dial up connection – getting new ip and reloggin – but not alway. it became hell for me.
funcom does not help at all. they say SP3 will fix it but i have a friend with no SP3 and no problems. also in the begining i had no problems so it must be something they changed.
help me plzz dont know what to do
btw dont know if its related but also – i cannot alt-tab from around the time i started having probs.

My problem is:
Since yesterdag the 30th of november I cant go into instances. When I do, everything is White, like I am in heaven. My game also stucks at some point, I have to restart my computer to solve that. I can play for 30 minutes and then it happens again.
Who knows a sollution?
Here’s my problem, and I didn’t read any of the other comments to see if it has been answered but, here we go:
I bought AoC from Steam, and it worked fin until the last patch, now the patcher loads, and at first I usually get the download loop, so I just ctrl+alt+delete it and start again so it goes through untill I can click the play button, now I click play and then it just runs the patcher again and it will continue to do this not letting me into the game. now you have to remember I’m starting it through steam. so when I go into the steamapps folder and launch the conan.exe it works and I can play, but I didn’t launch it through steam, so I don’t have access to the steam crap when I’m in game, which is kind of the point of buying it from steam. I don’t know if this is right place to ask for help but maybe it’s just simple.
I tryed to download the game and it said i had to download something so i did and now it wont start up again how do i fix it?

Whenever I try to play this game, the patcher comes up and then crashes at random times, so it’s basically impossible to know which files to fix.
I got error #12, used the solution and STILL it won’t work.
To anyone having problem #13 where you cannot maximize your patcher from the windows tab.
1. you need to change the resolution to 1024×768 (or to your current resolution that you played in the game)
2. Then you bring up your task manager (CTRL + ALT + DELETE)
3. Choose the application tab ,
4. Choose age of conan update mannager.
5. Right click and press maximize.

What a lame ass problem, but anyway, as there were no solutions to my problem and i accidently solved it and maybe i should have understood it from the error message also but i didnt anyway there it is…
Problem: Unable to locate the age of conan client folder.
Problem cause: Age of conan can not find the client from other than C drive’s file tree.
Solution: Meaning if u install ur AoC in E: drive ur fine, if u do it in E:\Age of conan, u are screwed. But AoC can find the client anywhere from drive C:, therefore you can do C:\games\AoC and u are still safe. At least i tested it and it was fine.
well while im trying to install the first disk of cod modern warfare 2 it stops and says im missing framedyn.dll i downloaded it idk where to place it or anything
I can Install AoC fine, spend hours downloading the patches, i get up to the last patch and it comes up with, ‘encountered a problem and needs to close’.. i rly wana play it, Can any1 help me out??
