The hard work for this game was done years ago, funny how it's taken longer to do the last 10% than it did to do the first 90%.

Face it the only reason it's taking so long is to exploit the cash cow that is WoW for as long as possible.

I realise timing is everything in marketting but this is beyond the joke.

Seriously if this doesn't come out before Q2 2010 I will simply boycott it in protest. Shame because they are so few good game producers left, most of my favourites have gone down the tunnel over the years. Cmon guys don't let us down this way!

Remember you have a reponsibilty to your customers as well as yourselves, whilst i'm pleased you don't do the EA thing, 12-13 years is probably too long between releases for one of the most popular games of all time.

Biggest problem here is you started promoting it way! to early. somebody should be looking for a new job about now.

ehhh guys...

''According to this press release by Activision-Blizzard and this statement by Cydra on Battle.net, it seems to appear SC2 is officially delayed until 2010.

Cydra-Blizzard Poster;
Today we announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will not be ready for release by the end of 2009. Over the past couple of weeks, it has become clear that it will take longer than expected to prepare the new Battle.net for the launch of the game. The upgraded Battle.net is an integral part of the StarCraft II experience and will be an essential part of all of our games moving forward. This extra development time will be critical to help us realize our vision for the service.

Our mission is to develop games that deliver an epic entertainment experience. As part of that commitment, we will always take as much time as needed to ensure that our games and services meet the expectations of our players and the standard for quality that we set for ourselves as developers. As we work to make Battle.net the premier online gaming destination, we'll also continue to polish and refine StarCraft II, and we look forward to delivering a real-time strategy gaming experience worthy of the series' legacy in the first half of 2010.

We will share more details about the beta, Battle.net, and StarCraft II's launch in the future. Keep an eye on the official website at http://www.starcraft2.com for updates, and as always, thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support for StarCraft II and all of Blizzard Entertainment's games. ''

Ignorance is bliss...

Starcraft 2 beta signups were last month I believe, Beta for the game is confirmed for summer of 2009, meaning the latest the game will come out is very early 2010 or very late 2009. (according to the blues over at starcraft2.com regarding the beta)

* Battle.net 2.0 will be free (confirmed)

* Beta confirmed for summer (confirmed)

* Starcraft 2 will have 2 confirmed expansions (confirmed)

* The first core game will have campaigns for all 3 races, though the 2nd and 3rd race are limited. (confirmed)

* You do not need both expansions to play as all 3 races (confirmed)

Yes, blizzard is known for their tried and true system of releasing games when their done, one of the reasons that their games dont suck in comparison to others.

I think i read a comment in here about starcraft 2 for consoles, simply put, wont happen. Blizzard is a PC developer, they tried the console route a few times with both starcraft and diablo, neither did well in comparison to their pc counterpart. Even looking at more modern RTS games on the consoles, their controls are sloppy at best, and the possibility of any true macro/micro management would be destroyed (halo wars anyone??). RTS requires a mouse and keyboard...

if your looking for any info on starcraft 2, please goto starcraft2.com and actually read comments that the moderators make (blizz blue posts). 99.9% of anything within the community is pure spam, the other 1% is honest to goodness blizzard facts.

Wow. It's been over half a year since I commented here--and Starcraft 2 is still not out. I hope Diablo 3 comes out soon though. I don't care which comes out first. I just want SOMETHING. By the way, what happened to Starcraft Ghost Nova? Are they not selling it?

Ahh, after reading all of the posts, I realize that I repeated what many people said. Well, sorry if you are upset because of my last post.
The best thing to do is to actually not guess, and not try to go off of what stores say, they are completely ripping you off, ever so slightly, as Feaster pointed out. If you want hard, true facts, I suggest looking at the Starcraft II FAQ's at: http://www.starcraft2.com/faq.xml .
Personally, I have waited for this game after I found out that Blizzard was going to make a sequel. And can't wait for its release. As I said earlier, it would completely suck if they made battle.net fees, if they do, Blizzard is no longer the company that I have grown to love ever since the release of SC. If Blizzard expects us to buy the game several times, in order to play the full SCII campaign, then its complete bs, and I would seriously mourn for the fall of my favorate gaming company.
If you are on this forum, and pretending that you work for Blizzard, please stop.
If you truly work for Blizzard, I have my suspicions whether you are actually correct. However, I, like all human beings in the history of time, have a high probability of being wrong. Im not saying that you are wrong, and that you cannot be trusted, its just that due to the annonymosity of forums no one can be trusted to be those who they claim to be.
Well, just for the heck of it, I like the Zerg, their power in numbers, and and Overmind, combined with the cuteness of lings just blows me away. And I love that they finally took those stupid wings off of them.
I like the look of the battle reports. And I think I will miss the dragoons, they were cool (especially the scene where the arbiter recalled 12 goons and owned the terran outpost(SC)).

StarCraft 2 - Want to Play, If it means giving up all my other games. — April 22, 2009 @ 6:12 pm

LOOK. Guys Chill ? Blizzard is not releasing(or takeing their time to complete it) StarCraft 2 because they still have World of Warcraft coming in. people still joining that online game, paying. they got enough money to go around. their happy, when sabotarge they World of warcraft by releasing StarCraft2. by doing tat all the World of warcraft players will stop and enjoy Starcraft 2 to the max. world of warcraft has over 7million players. each player paying $20+ a month u go do the math. how much they get. why end their income. ? think abt it. let World of warcraft die. tat means time

This guy nows his stuff, Ive been to at least 15 FAQ and Blog sites. Everytime someone posts the WOW argument.
Its true and im sorry to dissapoint you. Only a year ago they realesed Lich King & let players get to lvl 80. Once WOW dies, Starcraft will rise. Stop subscribing!!!

I haven't read this whole forum, because I got bored after 10 minutes of reading, But did notice something that might have been said later than the 100th or so post; since Blizzard is one company developing more than several games at once (Diablo 3, SCII, WotLK to name a few), and also has very financially successful, high maintenece games like WoW, they would probably wait to release SCII as late as possible. I derive this from the fact that even though Blizzard has released information on SCII, they are still making a killing off of WoW, and this relationship needs not to be neglected. They know that if they release SCII now, most people who play WoW, and are ignorant to other Blizzard games, will absolutely hear about and buy/begin playing SCII. Due to this, their WoW revenues will go down, as a direct result of people switching to a better game. Now, as we all, or at least I hope we all know, it costs absolutely nothing to play SC/SCBW (there are no monthly fees as in WoW), so SCII is expected to be similar in that fashion (it would be dreadful, and stupid on Blizzard's part to have battle.net fees). Therefore, Blizzard would want to either wait for a decrease in income due to WoW, in order to release SCII. Now, the problem is that as long as WoW is popular, which I expect to be forever, SCII will, theoretically, never be released. What I propose is to spread the word around the SC/SCII fan community to murder, in any fashion, the players of WoW!
Comedy aside, I think that SCII will not be released until Blizzard can get over the fact that they will lose money when SCII arrives, and that will take quite a long time, I assure you. (If you dont agree, how would you like to lose money??)
Oh, and just for the record, Im not claiming that Im smart/better than you/more financially secure than you/a nerd/a geek/and whatever else that I cant think of at this moment. I certainly am neither of those things, especially rich/better-- I just have no way of knowing. Also, I dont want anyone being a wise ass and telling me to go piss off, if you are truly intelligent, you will go for the path of true debate.
