This is Flagship’s response to the issue where Flagshipped had layed off all their employees and that hanbitsoft claims to have acquired the IP rights for Mythos.

“It is with deep regret that I must announce that Flagship Studios has laid off most employees. However, the core management and founding team members are still at Flagship.” said Bill Roper, CEO of Flagship Studios. “The past five years have been an incredible experience for us, but unfortunately, we couldn’t sustain the size of the company any longer.”

Flagship Studios owns the rights to all its technology and IP, including Hellgate: London and Mythos. Due to the current situation, Flagship will not be taking any new subscribers for Hellgate: London, and all current subscriptions will not be billed.

Flagship wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to those that have supported the company and games over the past five years.”

So will patch 2.0 ever come out? don’t bet on it until Flagship gets a new company to invest in their projects. In fact, Flagship is still quiet about if they’ll continue supporting current subscribers and especially those who signed up for the Hellgate London “founder status” and Hellgate’s Lifetime subscriptions. (According to the lifetime subscription terms, Lifetime subscriptions are supposed to last through Hellgate’s online/multiplayer component’s lifetime and not the subscriber’s lifetime so… heh, screwed)

That thing with the Lifetime.. That’s just stupid. People got flagshipped again?

I’m not sure if the writeup or the announcement were more poor… The announcement itself is just fluff, it doesn’t tell anything special, other than FSS being alive. Not anything on the future of HGL and Mythos. And then there’s this: >So will patch 2.0 ever come out? don’t bet on it until Flagship gets a new company to invest in their projects. Why would FSS need a new company to invest in Patch 2.0 development? To start up a new company will need even more money, and that’s what they’re having problems with. It’s also no prerequisite to release patch content, assuming they indeed still hold the rights to develop for these games. >According to the lifetime subscription terms, Lifetime subscriptions are supposed to last through Hellgate’s online/multiplayer component’s lifetime and not the subscriber’s lifetime so… heh, screwed Heh. Oh. Of course that’s the agreement! What else could it be? Why does he even bother commenting it with a “so… heh, screwed”? It’s like he found out something we didn’t know about. It’s the only logical agreement, of all lifetime subscriptions.
