Problem #1 : “Critical Error warhammer will now terminate” Error Message
Solution A : Turn off your anti-virus or add Warhammer files to your exceptions list. This occurs when your anti-virus interferes with the patching process. Incase your anti-virus prevented one of the files from being patched or copied properly, turn off your anti-virus, find that file in the antivirus log then delete that file then do a full fill check update. This is pretty much the case with almost every paranoid antivirus softwares
Solution B : If your computer specs do not pass Warhammer’s Age of Reckoning System requirements, it’s probably time to upgrade.
Solutiuon C : the Warhammer Critical Error problem is a symptom of one (or more) of the following : Old video card drivers, RAM less than 2GB and a video card that doesnt have shader 2.0 or better.
Problem #2 : Error Copying E:\data1\art2.myp during installation
Solution A : First, check if you can to copy the whole Warhammer disc into your harddrive, if you come across this problem while checking if you can copy the whole disc, then it’s a disc problem. You may opt to contact your local warhammer vendor and have the Warhammer Age of Reckoning disk replaced (from warhammer forums)
Solution B : Art2.myp can be corrupted by a discontinued update. Try reupdating your Warhammer age of reckoning client client (from warhammer forums).
Problem #3 : Patch Error: Your Warhammer folder is missing a larger number of files. Reinstall the game from the supplied media.
Solution A : tick the Perform full file check before starting the update (as posted by smokeyjon).
Solution B : For those who have been in the beta, the client version may be too updated.
Problem #4 : Warhammer Online Crash to Desktop problems
Solution A : For those who are playing Warhammer Age of Reckoning on XP, go to the properties settings of your network card and under advanced tab, set checksum offload to disabled. (as posted by Rylin).
Solution B : Rename the Users folder to anything then run the game
Solution C : Change the game resolution to that of the desktop’s
Solution D : This Crash to desktop problem seems to happen more often to users who are using ATI video cards with the latest drivers. If you can wait for ATI to release a specialized driver version for WAR then hope that they release it quick or hope that Mythic would patch this problem right away. If you cant wait for new driver builds, try rolling back your drivers a to an earlier stable version, but it’s a longshot.
Problem #5 : Warhammer Black screen crash.
Solution A : Refer to solutions posted in #3
Problem #6 : “Authentication Failed – Application Will Now Terminate” Warhammer Error message
Solution A : Make sure that the ports that Warhammer Age of Reckoning uses are not blocked
Solution B : The Authentication server might have been taking a beating (since WAR is fairly new). But this is more often a server side problem, which Mythic SHOULD fix ASAP.
Problem #7 : Warhammer Stuttering problem *unresolved
Problem #8 : Warhammer game Freeze / Freezing problem *unresolved

I installed hte game then made an account. I clicked start went to Ea Games clicked Warhammer Age of reckoning then all that comes up is a black command box that displays for about 2 seconds the closes. the game wont start
installed game fine created account fine received relavaent e-mails confirming that as well so went to play the game clicked the warhammer desktop icon and it said login details for mythic patcher so entered login and password but it keeps saying “authentication failed re-enter your login credentials” yet i know they are correct as i can access my account from the warhammer site to change my password etc. sent them 4 e-mails over the weekend and no reply any suggestions HOPEFULLY something completey idiotic on my behalf please help
#1 : joel, got that prob too. got a black box and stared at it for 5 minutes, trembling in excitement but it’s as if i bought Warhammer just to stare at that black screen where the splash image should have been. I reinstalled and did a full check out then everything went fine. i repeat, “full check out” on that warhammer update and i hope that everything would go fine on your side
#2 : that situation would’ve been normal if it was 4 days ago when WAR just got released. and btw from my experience in my MMO days, the support crew rarely answer and emails or faxes during weekends.
ok, now for my concern : which port does warhammer age of reckoning actually use? i googled around and it seems that no one really knows (yet) what port warhammer uses and i like to do some *cough* *stuff* with it. you know, mess around with some of the packets of sorts and check how things are going :p
How do i find my network card? I cant find the icon to get into properties for solution #4 (A)
@ #4 : Right click on network places, properties then advanced.
or Right click on My computer then go to device manager from there then select your network card then right click on it then select the properties in the drop down menu.
After the game installs I don’t get a icon or program in the folder i downloaded it too. I live in USA and read bout the problem the Aussies were having. They sound similar.
when i play the game for like 2 hours the game just shuts of. no error-report or anything like that. what can be the problem? i have windows vista.
I installed Warhammer & registered my account perfectly fine but now while Im playing every 30 mins or so my computer shuts down & restarts …kinda frustrating = (
im getting the same problem as #7 and #8 except it happens to me every 5 mins. Running the game in Windowed mode at the same resolution as my desktop kinda solves it but I still feel like im not getting what i paid for. im paying to play this game to it’s fullest including playing warhammer at fullscreen! anyone got a clue about fixing these random crashes?
I first tried to install, went through to the end when I received an error notice that direct x and java must be enabled … it the closed down and I could find no trace of the game on the system to try to restart the game/complete registration, etc.
I then unistalled the game, enabled both Java and Direct X and have tried fruitlessly to reinstall the game.
Each time, I go through the first dvd and it prompts me to put in the 2nd Dvd. WHen I do and press ok, it kicks the DVD out again and asks for the 2nd install disc … ad nauseum.
Please help!!
Okay we have a BIGGER problem now, my computer was perfectly fine until I installed this POS game , after playing it for about 2 hours , which was quite frustrating seeing as it kept shutting down my computer every 30 mins , now my freaking comp says my windows file is corrupted!!! Yet it WASN”T yesterday b4 I started playing this stupid game so WTF.

I installed everything when i put my login info and everything it tries to run the app I see the warhammer icon on the taskbar for a fraction of a second and then it disappears.

I installed the Game without any problems and logged in and evereything seems fine except i have no mouse icon ingame so its super hard to click on anything ingame. Any ideas?
Have installed the game,gone through all the patching,registered my account and logged in to play the game.When I hit the play button to play the game I get the mesage”warhammer has encountered a problem and must close ” and then asks to send the usual error report to microsoft.Anybody else have this problem.?

Problem #3 : Patch Error: Your Warhammer folder is missing a larger number of files. Reinstall the game from the supplied media. I have tryed eveything updated windows, card vidow card it ok, and reloaded the game 6 time. I can not get pass this error. I have windows xp home a amd 3100+ 2g ram ati radeon 3 d graphic card help I called tec support no help.
i installed it and when i click on the icon it come up with a black box for like half a second then it disappears. Someone else haad this prob and someone told them how to fix it but that dosen work for me

I am trying to install and I keep getting this error upon inserting 2nd disk : Error copyinge:\data2\vo_english.myp it says retry or cancel. If I retry it says the same thing if I cancel I have to start all over with the first disk and I still get the error. I am currently trying to copy all files to my hard drive and install it that way but I first got a I/O error and it stopped the transfer now it is going…but very slowly. Why don’t they just allow downloadable client from their website (like most other games) Anyway does anyone know a way around this or what I should try next?

hey guys here the problem to all WIN-XP users.
I bought WH in Australia. can’t start the F@%^# game. Downloaded the missing patch. It worked fine. level a DOK to 20 then it happens.
Everytime i clicked play, WH just shuts down. i contacted EA surpport send em DXdig file. The comp is up to date with all the sys requiremets every better that the standard REQs.
Still can’t play the freaking game…It a retarded game guys i am to the point of returning this F@@%^# game and get me C$SH back

thank you for wasting my time and money in playing ur F@$%!en game. it not just me who experienced difficulties with ur game but i am sure there are thousands. I have spent the 2 weeks of my life trying to start ur F@%^@en game. Download the patch that ur stupid programers missed to add it to the DVD that sale in Australia. play the game for 3 days then it won;t let me start. All it does is ” load up a black Screen for 2 seconds the disappears”.
The 4th days it fucked upt my comp. I wasted $AU80 to repair it. Then still can’t play ur F@%^@%#ing game.
i called ur ” Mute” surpport centre which i should have known there no one there. Another stupid move on my bhalf. I Emailed my question to ur surpport site after spend countless of hours googled for the problem that i have, oh wait i found out that ur f@^@en game does receipt a bad reputation casue people complaining al over the net.
3 days later i reciept an email from surpport, about time u f@%!^en slow pig, which contains several links that i already read acn checked with ur surpport sites. The email also ask me to update my sound and video cards. I did and cost me again $US49 bucks. another thx for ur fucking game.
I caped my net usage durign the month August-Sept having to uninstall and reinstall and download ur fucking patches everytime and it only work once then the same problem again, again and again.
This morning @ 4.46AM, i reciept a email from support asking me to to delete files in task manager and temporary files…guess wat ” it still won’t work”

Hey guys, just having the problem that when I load the game up, select character, begins loading I then either get in the game for a few minutes then my computer restarts, or I don’t even get past the Tip & map loading screen when my computer restarts.
Any Ideas on how to fix this are welcome
Got second copy – PC cannot even read the second disk for the second time >.< Off to get money back. Roll on WotLK. Blizzard may be a lot of things but at least they can roll the game out in the first place.

i have problem in graphic when i start WAR
first in the character screen when i create character the fire fades and comes out again the same thing happen when i play in my sorccer when i use magics they dont appears and i am puting my performance on fastest fremate
I have to agree with Return WH.
This is simply not acceptable. There is no other marketplace where it is considered acceptable to attempt to sell such a godawful product.
I don’t think I am being unreasonable when I say that if I buy a game, I expect the disks that are provided to be sufficient to install the game. I do not expect to get 1 functional disk out of 2. I am not buying 50% of the game, but the entire thing, and I therefore have a right to expect it all to work.
The way these companies have behaved indicates nothing less than a heartfelt contempt for us, their customer base.

This application has failed to start because d3dx9_34dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Try to install the latest version of direct X, as that is most likely the cause of the .dll error. I am having the same problem as you and that’s what most people are telling me to do.
I must say i have had more trouble trying to install this game than i have had with any other game EVER.
Yep I agree with return WH. What a pain in the ar*e to try a get this game running. After reinstalling several times and ensuring my patches and drivers are up to date I can’t even get past the load and tip screen. Very disappointed as I was eagerly awaiting this game, now I’m eagerly awaiting a refund.
I’m having a installation issue,
I bought the game today and when i began installing it, everything looking fine and than it said please insert “WAR2″
i insert the DISK (2) and than this window appears WAR2 (J:)
i just keep on waiting for the other DISK to start loading and continue the installation it’s stuck at 100% from the previous DISK (1) and
extracting files
world.myp ( so i bascially tried to take out the disk and insert it again, than this window comes up telling me.

Ok, I seriously do not get what’s going on here. The first time I tried installing this game it went through just fine…..it seemed. I had the issue where it didn’t put any icons or program folders on my desktop. So, I went to the game directory and ran warpatch. It seemed to patch just fine, but when I went to run the game, I got the critical error saying that warhammer will now terminate. Ok, thanks for the lack of an explanation as to why.
So, after rebooting and trying to run the game again with no luck, I uninstalled and tried to reinstall. Now, everytime it gets to the video.myp file, it fails. I’ve tried going into the registry and deleting anything warhammer or ea related. No luck.
I am at a loss of ideas and 50 bucks apparently. :/
So I buy the game, install it and everything works good. When I go to run the game I get patches (expected). I let them run and the first one goes fine, very quickly. The second one however is a lot bigger (210 MB) and it gets to the very end of the patch (it says 100%, so theirs very few files left) and then gives me an error.
“The patch client was unable to retrieve the file(base/interface.myp/ce2d0d30145230fd)from the patch server. Please try the patch application again in a short while.”
So I try it again in a short while and it sits there at 0% for a minute or two and I get a Microsoft Patch Client Error.

-Reinstalled 3+ Times
-Restarted computer
-Used different hard drive location
-NO firewalls are activated
-…and yes I meet the system requirements

sometimes it doesn’t even detect that the disc is in the drive.
Is the only other solution to download the entire beta through torrent? or is there another way ..
I installed the game and everything went fine. It prompts me if I want to install Download Manager and so I do. Once this completes, the Login popup asks me for my email and password I enter those identical to what I used to previously set up my account, and it goes through a function for a few seconds and then poops up the following message:
“Please check your internet connections. Your PC appears to be offline.

I am having the 2-second black-box problem. I installed the game 9 days ago and the first problem was that I (for some reason) did not have the war.exe file or it was misplaced or something because I did not get the WAR icon on my desktop. So I just ran the game by opening warpatch.exe and logging in and I’ve had no problems logging in or doing the file check (and I have tried a full file check) and I hit play and it opens for 2 seconds and closes.
I also un-installed and re-installed the game, which worked fine, until this morning when the 2 second black-box plague came back. I have also been able to find NO solutions to my problem, obviously new patches aren’t working. Help please?
Hi its me again. I finally got the patches to download but when i try to play the game it says d3dx9_34.dll is missing and i need to reinstall the game. I have tried installing the game on 3 different computers and i get the same massage on each computer.

80, 6881 to 6889 and 6969, all for TCP (UDP not needed)
I have the issue that my login is not accepted when logging on with the freaking patcher – But I know the credentials are OK as I can log on with it on the website.
So, what the fuck. I’ve been trying for well over an hour now and giving up. Tomorrow it’ll be my last attempt or NEVER MIND and I’ll get my money back.

Hi Lakers, I was starting to think the same but then I did something, and for me it worked – it could still be a coincidence, but anyway, I suggest you give it a try.
1) log on to the website
2) Add the Warhammer CD-key* to your keys on the site.
3) Wait a few minutes. (have coffee or whatever)
4) Log in, for me it worked!
*Note the CD Key can be found in one of the many e-mails you got when initially buying the game.
For me, the game crashes even before it loads up the actual gameplay part. sometimes i can choose server, pick my character and click play, but it always crashes just after that. sometimes it doesn’t even get to the choose server part. My PC meets the requirements and has fully updated drivers.
Any ideas?
I’m guessing driver issues.. Try to look for any driver updates – especially for your video card. Also, which version of DirectX are you using?
… The above is still guesswork, these things are hard to troubleshoot if one isn’t behind the PC – Anyone have any other ideas?
Oh, and by crashing I presume the game exits without any error message? If there is an error or if your PC actually freezes completely then I’d like to know – as it changes the possible causes.
Yeah, when it crashes there are no messages, just quick black screen and then desktop.
Using DirectX 9c. Just updated the drivers now, so they shouldn’t cause any problems.
Would a full re-installation help?
Done a full re-installation, the problem is fixed and i am now killing the dark elves
Ole – i got this error before i entered my license key, check that you’ve successfully entered the details and retry.
Didn’t see any1 posting this, but for problem 2 and 3, they were resolved for me by updating firmware on my dvd drive. i found this solution on some other forum, and it’s been working for others as well. btw, my firmware patch was 2006, so it wasn’t that recent, but it solved those issues
Heh warhammer is just a scam – Nothing more. the idiots they hire and charge out at 180 dollars an hour are little more then retards off the street. Geatest hyped up flop ever recorded in the history of MMO’s. I replaced the warpatch.exe and doesnt go any further lol. Games a joke I am reporting them to the ACCC
I go to download latest patch and a message comes up at 85% it reads:
“The patch client was unable to retrieve the file [4ase/interface.myp/cc134d0ffa732da9] from the patch server. Please try the patch operation again in a short while.”
The issue is it as been like this for 3 days, and there are no posts in the “herald” saying that this is an issue being resolved… this game is looking more and more like a waste of money.
Any help wouldbe greatly appreciated.

Bought the game today… It wont read any of the disc’s should I just return it or anyone got any solutions?
Can you check if the disks are perhaps DVDs? If so, you need a DVD player to read them. Maybe you have only a CD player. This would be a common mistake…
The disc’s are dvd’s and I do have a dvd player. In the case there is also included a demo for another game, “Dark age of Camelot”. On that disc it says: “PC dvd rom ‘only dvd compatible’”. And on the Warhammer disc’s it says the same… And yes I can run the camelot disc but not the warhammer disc’s… It makes no sence… why put in non functional disc’s ?
Then I do suggest returing it and getting your money back. You can buy the game online and download the whole client anyway.
I cant even install Warhammer on my PC, each time i insert the cd i get an error saying Warhammer has stopped responding. I’ve tried going into it from my computer, but getting the same thing. Not sure what the problem is, my hardware is more than sufficient for the game and all software is up-to-date. Please help
only my main character keeps crashing i can log in and play as any character except for my my highest lvl character which is a lvl 32 brigh wizard? it lets me log in click play then when its loading the map which is currently Reikland it loads for about 30 seconds then boots me back to desktop. its been happening for 2 days straight now i havent been able to play at all!!!!

wtf i installed the game i have a desktop item but its a white box for the icon and when i click on it, it loads up a black box for half a second then dissapears i tryed to type in (warpatch.exe) in the run program but it comes up with the same black box and ive installed the game 3 times now but still the same thing WTF????
@Ark – Got the same error. Same as you I’ve tried everything. There’s nothing about this problem in the whole f****ng web. I’m tired of it. Seems like it’s a waste of money and time.

This is the helpform I’ve recieved from the support team:
“Dear Customer,
If you’re having trouble connecting to the WAR servers, it might be that your firewall is blocking the WAR client. If you are using the Windows firewall, this is how you can add an exception for the WAR client: Click on the Start button. Click on Control Panel. Depending on which Desktop Style you have chosen to use, follow the appropriate directions below: Windows XP default desktop: Click on Security Centre. Now click on Windows Firewall. Windows Classic desktop: Click on Windows Firewall. Please be sure that the radio button is set to on (recommended) and that there is no check in the box that says don’t allow exceptions before continuing. Click the Exceptions tab. Click on the Add Programs Button. Click on the Browse button. Add the file warhammer.exe. Then click the Open button to add the file to the list. Click Ok. Click the Add Program Button again. Click Ok twice. Repeat this procedure for warpatch.exe and warpatch.bin.
Additionally you may need to configure your router settings to open the following ports
- UDP port 1024-65535
- TCP port 8040-8049
- TCP port 10622
This is done in your router configuration settings, you can find out how to do this by checking the router manual or looking up online at your routers manufactures website.

I have tried to register the game twice and to create an account. To no avail, i have yet to recieve a confirmation email and without it i cant proceed further into the completed installation. This is VERY annoying and poor poor gaming standards.
I have played but know getting the following error before getting to the login screen – “The patch client was unable to retrieve the file [patcher.prod.sig] from the patch server. Please try the patch operation again in a short while.” Any help would be appreciated.
umm i have downloaded the game and now mounted it. now everytime i go to my computer i try to autoplay the game. and on the task manager under the process tab the installer will come up then soon after dissapear.
i’m having problem #4 with vista evry 5-10 mins how can i fix any solutions?
and srry for the double post but how do i find the networck card on vista, also dose solution B mean change the users folder in local disk? cause that seems like a no no lol
and ive tried changeing the resolution and it did not help
When I put the disk in nothing happens, so I go to the file and open it. When I double click setup I get a message that says setup is already running, but its not.
My bad it says installer is already running not setup.
I’ve been playing for a few months, and now suddenly I am unable to login. The patch screen restarts continually until it times out. Not cool.
It appears that the game will erase all NPC’s and any damage taken for periods of a time and then catch up to me at the last moment. During these times I cannot talk to anyone nor can I log out.
It has been a constant pain.
just download the game, installed it, and doubleclicked the strange icon on my desktop. the only thing i see is the a blackscreen. nothin more… tried to repair the weird game with the patcher. doesnt work… same result, blackscreen of death.
just deinstalled it… now, iam back in nordend.

Everything went smoothly as I installed the game, created an account and character, but the moment the game actually starts it let’s me move for about 5 seconds and then my character freezes, and then the game just closes itself without any dialogue box explaining an error or anything. I’ve run a scan on my computer to see if it’s compatible with what I need to play Warhammer, and the scan said that my computer was above average, so I’m doubting that it’s my actual computer specs that is the problem.
i installed the trail version but my computer restarted or somthin when i left it overnight so now im doing this HUGE patch download again which is really anoying the hell out of me. and now i hear of the high system specs and everything im thinkin twice now before buying this. OH AND if u download a patch and ur computer restarts or somthing doesnt it start from where it stoped ? like in WoW if it stoped at 40% it continues at 40%. but i dont see that here. :@:S:/
the idea is to keep ur computer running during the patching process.
ok so i went out and bought warhammer age of reckoning. we went and put it in the dvd-rom slide and nothing happened. there was no pop up window or anything. we read the book guid and it said to go to run and type in D\setup. so we did then it said to install a disk into dvd-rom D. we did and it did the same thing over again. can smebody please help us. we would really like to play this game.
I have had it for a while i just decided to start playing it again so i put in disk 1 i hit run then i hit next and i get this err “Setup.exe has stopped working.” i dont know what 2 do please help!
Hi guys! My friend just downloaded the trial and such, installed the game, downloaded the patches neccesary, we did allready mark the “full file check”.. BUT! When my friend clicks on “Play” it goes into a black screen like if it was gonna load the game, and goes out to the deskop right after.. Any solutions?
i have a very annoying prob with the game ive played it now for like one day and something odd hours and had no problems but now i choose serve and charecter then the game will load i can then walk about and do stuff for a few mins afta that though this will happen id try and talk to someone like a merchant or a quest person and nothing will come up id go to a enermy and fight them but take no damage and deal no damage eventually every one other then my charecter just dissapears but i can still walk around and stuff but i carnt exit the game or log out and its the same for all the servers and all my charecters its really anoying seen as im paying for the game that isnt working any help would be brill
ive installed the trial client 3 times already and patched up to around 70-99% and then I get an error message stating to try again later since the operations are busy. I really want to try the game but due to this I might not even get to experience the game :/
Edit: It stops at 88% on world.myp file if that helps.
Pretty much same problem as #80. Trying to install the game and follow instructions in booklet. Click run and type in D:\setup and it doesn’t work.It doesn’t say to insert the disc rather says something about file can’t be found and to check the spelling. What am I doing wrong? Frustrating to pay for this game but can’t play it.
Hi i installed Warhammer online but when i got to play it says the d3dx9_34.dll appliacation wont run,any suggestions as to what im doing wrong?
Ok guyz, I couldnt find any solution of this problem. Here it is. I instaled the game, everything with account creating and key accepting went well, then i entered the game, played bout 20, 25 mins and it froze, couldn’t do nothing, except to reboot the system. It does this freezing thing every time after 25 mins. Plz if any solutions, share them.
This game sucks! Someone released beta version with million bugs and then went on vacation with all the money.
