Good news to the indefinite number of people who are experiencing problems running the PC version of GTA IV

Rockstar announced today that the GTA IV patch is almost ready and is being tested by Microsoft. Now you might be wondering what Microsoft has to do with this. Well, GTA IV is part of the Games for Windows.

Keep on checking back, i’ll be posting the GTA IV patch download link when it’s available :)

GTA IV patch announcement

We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows – Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval.
The patch contains a variety of fixes including:

-A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
-Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
-Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
-Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
-Overall savings to memory
-Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
-Multiplayer character settings are preserved
-Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.

Issues with power management software have also been fixed (slow speed, double speed issues). Even after the patch comes out setting power management software to maximum performance is recommended. We’ve seen cases where power management software does not detect the game is running and puts the CPU in green mode.

Besides the patch we’ve also improved the way the Social Club handles data this should have greatly reduced or eliminated the Mma10 error. If you are still receiving this error after logging in and out of Social Club we would like to know as much info as you can about it.

Download links for the Grand Theft Auto IV patch will be posted as soon as the standalone download link is made available.

Really hope it comes quick. It sucks having a great game that you aren’t able to play thanks to lousy programming.

the reason this game is so buggy is because of Microsoft’s stupid Games For Windows… and now Microsoft is keeping us from getting the patch. No matter how hard you try, im not getting an XBOX360 for GTA IV you money stealing bastards

On topic. Pls release this patch fast!! Game runs smooth on my rig but the textures disappear after a while because of a memory leak!! (memory is full and GTA just won’t clear it out). Thx…

I’ve only got 1 day left on my receipt for any possibility of refund. If the patch doesn’t come out by tomorrow….

as i said before,i think it’ll take weeks before they release that patch. and who’s to say it’ll fix all the problems, freezes, missing textures and all that…that maybe is what they say, but…i kinda have a feeling it’ll still be as it is now, full of bugs.

Nah, I had faith in GTA IV and kept it in the end xD

But you know what? Rockstar Studio’s technical support just replied to me today and said that the only reason why my game hangs on the first mission’s loading screen is ‘cos my proc is a Pentium 4 one. -_-

I’ve seen posts on the other thread for the GTA IV errors that some people managed to run the game on Pentium 4 machines. Can anyone help me with this? Or I really have to go get a core 2 duo for the sake of a game =(

Like thousand of guys like you, I’m an old fan of GTA series. I’ve played all versions and loved them all. When GTA IV was announced i had very happy about.. After 1000 years waiting, I’ve got it from Web pirate first to try, and it CRASHED with me.. after some minutes playing smooth on my sapphire HD 4850. After read thousands of foruns, none true help found yet. Even with d@mm patch, crashes are still here. FOR GOD OF WHOLE WORLD, “whyyyyY” this game is SOOOOO HAAAARD to run? What is MISSING?

    My rig=
phenom 4750 (2.6ghz); 2×2 ddr2800 and Vista 64 SP1; Sapphire HD 4850 and all drivers from universe are updated.

The question that still on my mind= WHYYYY this game is so hard to run WITHOUT errors? And maybe the only one I know that persists on crashes… WHAAAT IS WRONG……. ???
