We haven’t heard any news from the TF2 developers for quite a while. The latest entry on the official TeamFortress 2 blog was posted back in October, was about the “Meet the sandvich video” and other random crap stuff. Can’t really blame them since the L4D team needed to borrow the Team Fortress 2 team’s (redundant much?) help to tweak Left4dead’s multiplayer aspect, which is the main selling point of L4D. The TF2 devs are prolly taking a break from L4d-tasks right now so they finally reveal the next TF2 class in line for the class update — that annoying bastard The Scout!. Here’s the official word about the upcoming Team Fortress 2 Scout Update

The next class pack will be the Scout. One of the main goals we’re focusing on for him has been to
provide tools that make him useful in maps like Dustbowl & Goldrush. If you have any ideas for what you think would work well, post them over on the Team Fortress 2 Forum and we’ll take a look.

Just because they announced something, it doesn’t mean that they can start working on it. Valve devsare famous for spending generous amount of time (too generous for some impatient players) for updates that brings new features and highlights to their game (how many years did Counterstrike stay in beta again?). But hey, at least they updated Team Fortress 2 today with buffs that Engineers and Spy players can happy about.

* Teleporters will be upgradeable to level 3. As the teleporter is upgraded, the cooldown will decrease.
* Dispensers will be upgradeable to level 3. They will heal faster and generate metal faster as they are upgraded.
* Spies will be able to recharge their cloaking ability by picking up ammo off of the ground.
* We’ve made a bunch of minor changes by adding particle systems and upgrading the HUD to show things like deaths by critical hits, players that are overhealed, and giving more information to medics when people are calling for them.

The Level 3 Dispenser upgrade can really add value to Engineers in the game and the cloak meter refilling whenever you pick up ammo/weapons on the ground can prolong the Spy’s life considerably. Cheers to the TF2 valve team for this much needed update!
