If you encouter Sims 3 related problems that are not included in the list below, please post them in the comments box at the bottom of this page. Posting solutions (working or speculated ones) for Sims 3 on the comment box would be more than welcome. List will be updated as new problems and solutions become known.
Before moving on make sure that you computer/laptop meets the minimum system requirements to play sims 3. You can compare your system specs with Sims 3′s requirements here : http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/876.page
Problem #1 : Sims 3 Error message “Device 0 cannot run this title There is no video graphic card supported check your system hardware”
Solution A : If you are attempting running Sims 3 with a secondary monitor attached, The game wont work and you will get this error. Try to disable the second monitor via display properties or unplug it prior to running Sims 3
Solution B : Make sure that you have met the minimum requirements for Sims 3. If your system specs exceeds that of Sims 3′s minimum system requirements, post your system specs at the comment box at the bottom of this page.
Solution C : If you trying out Sims 3 on a laptop, make sure that the laptop has a dedicated video card installed. Intel GME has known issues with Sims 3.
Solution D : Try solution to problem #4
Problem #2: Sims 3 crashes in Buy / Build mode
Solution A: Disable and/or uninstall your anti-virus. Avg and Norton are notoriously known to conflict with Sims 3.
Solution B: If Solution A doesn’t work. Your best bet is to try the solution to problem #4. If you are experiencing this error, post your system specs at the comment box below and some details on how often you get this error
Workaround : Play the game in window mode. If Sims 3 still crashes or freezes on build/buy mode, post about it in the comment box below along with your system specs.

Problem #3 : Sims 3 data error CRC error (cyclic redundancy check error)
Solution A: Run the Windows Defragmenter software on your system
Solution B: It appears that in some cases, users that are using the EA download Manager version of The Sims 3 may experience this error if their download is paused. To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:
*Log in to the EADM.
*Click on the red x in the upper right part of the Sims 3 download to clear the EADM cache.
*Re-download The Sims 3; do not pause the download.
Solution C: Try solution for Problem #6 listed above

Problem #4 : Sims 3 randomly crashes
Solution A : Sims 3 has issues with old video card drivers. Make sure that your video card drivers are up to date. Here’s a list of video card manufacturers along with the link to their driver update page. Make sure that you select the correct driver approprirate for your video card’s model

Solution B: Disable and/or uninstall your anti-virus. Avg and Norton are notoriously known to conflict with Sims 3.
Workaround : Run Sims 3 in window mode and see if you still get this errors. If you do, then make sure that you’ve updated your video card drivers.

Problem #5: Sims 3 freezing in game, during build/buy mode or immediately after creating your sim.
Solution : Try the solutions listed for Problem #4
Problem #6 : Sims 3 displays this error “Disk Authentication Failure” after pressing the Play button
Solution : Sims 3 has problems running on Toshiba laptops and computers with MATSHTA DVD-RAM UJ-841S DVD drives mainly because it interferes with the DRM installed in Sims 3. Follow the instructions listed below
• Click on the ‘Start’ menu on the Windows Taskbar.
• Click on ‘My Computer.’
• Right-click on the DVD drive letter you are using to run your game.
• Select ‘Properties’ from the list of options.
• You should see a ‘DLA’ tab in the Properties panel, where you can disable the DLA software on your machine.

Problem #6 : Sims 3 displays this error “A system error has occurred”
Solution : This is a generic error, post your system specs at the comment box below as this error can be caused by a lot of things
Problem #7 : Sims 3 black screen problem
Solution A: No known fix. Your best bet is to try the solution to problem #4. If you are experiencing this error, post your system specs at the comment box below and some details on how often you get this error
Solution B: Black screen errors are usually attributed to overheating video cards. Make sure your video card is properly cooled if this is the case.
Problem #8 : Sims 3 screen tearing / lines across screen when moving the camera or zooming in and out
Solution : Enable v-sync. This will cause the game to slow down for some systems though

How do you run Sims 3 in windowed mode?
Options > Enable fullscreen (disable this)
Is it just me or is there NO PROBLEM number 4 and a lot fo the comments refer to it.

I can’t even save my game anymore. Half the time it will just crash, and half the time it will just get stuck at saving (the little animation circle thing will keep going but won’t ever finish and I have to end the process).
By the way, my specs are:

hi there i need some help…my sims 3 just crash suddenly without any warming…i disable my AVG and i tried the step provided here but it didnt work…my spec are:

Running in window mode fixed both my problems. I assume getting the retail will also fix those problems.

Same problem as Will emma and Jay, Randomly crashes to black at any given time, though music keeps playing.
Window mode, disabling AVG, and generally closing other programs does not help.

Having a bad case of problems #2+#4
System Info: XP Home SP3, Nvidia 8800 GTS 640MB, nForce 570 SLI with Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 GHz, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, 900W PSU
I’ve updated to both the latest stable Nvidia driver and then later the recent beta driver when that didn’t work. Neither helped a bit. Updated to the latest distribution of DirectX with no effect. Updated nForce motherboard driver and sound card driver with no effect. Turning sound acceleration down in dxdiag didn’t do **** either. Turning the fan on my GFX card up to 90% and logging temperature while running Sims 3 didn’t show unusually high temperatures (and nothing in there is overclocked) yet it still crashed. Event viewer reports nothing out of the ordinary each time this has happened. Not running SLI cards and nothing else I run crashes. =/
I’m about to try disabling Avast, but I’m reluctant to run in window mode until that fails also. My system far exceeds the system requirement and I don’t want to have to settle for lesser graphics just because EA’s programmers couldn’t kill blatant bugs in their software…
I have a disc authentication error but do not have a DLA in my properties panel. I do not have a tohiba laptop or a matsha disck drive. I have a pioneer dic drive. I can run my game on t3 exe but when it loads to the game menu it says there is no disc and to insert it. I have practically given up. I have rang ea suport hotline and they said it is a common eror. I apparently have to download a free game from the internet and have to be conected to the net whenever I play my game. I will be screwed if I decide to not have the net because i wont be able to play it at all.
I had the sims 3 installed but it was slow while playing it. I then had some more memory put into the computer, but everytime I went to on the sims it either crashed as soon as it started up or after 10 minutes of playing.
I then took the disc back as it might have been faulty and got another. I then went to install this on the same computer, during installation a box popped up saying that I do not have enough disc space.
How is this possible when I had it installed on the exact same computer as before?
I am having #6 problems.

I’ve installed sims 3 fine without any problems, however, when I go to game launch and click the play button to run the game, the screen goes black and then returns to desktop as if the game was never loaded.
My computer meets all the required specs.

I have found alot of forums with similar problems, however no help on how to fix it. Cannot run in windows mode, or change options as the game never offically starts.

I installed the Sims 3 onto a perfectly good PC. Although I don’t have the specs handy, they more than match the ones required for the Sims 3, and it did play fine twice for several hours. Now, when I try to start up, it loads in a black screen, reaches about 7.0 of loading and then returns to the desktop.

hi i have the same problem my game loads in you then go into create a sim and it starts freezing up and crashes my pc,i have been on ea games website and took the test to see if my pc would run the sims3 and it passed i am running vista have updated all my drivers so thats not the problem anyone any idea of what to do next .
The speed in my sims 3 is not fast enough. When I switch from speed 1 to 3 it doesn’t change at all. It takes a long time for me to sleep or go to work, because the speed isn’t faster. I have tried to change the grafic, but it still doesn’t work.

I found a problem and solution incase anyone else runs into this.
Problem:
Computer Crashes/Battery Dies/etc while your game is saving. The next time you try to load The Sims 3 the game crashes on the initial load screen before it starts to say all the silly things like “Unloading Loading Screens”.
Solution: First go to your documents folder.
*Mac: Go to your home folder(Shift + Apple + H). Browse to Documents
*Windows: Go to your “My Documents” folder.
Then browse to Eletronic Arts/The Sims 3/Saves/ and delete the save of whatever game you were in when the crash occurred. DO NOT DELETE the backup file. Then rename the Backup file by deleting the “.backup” portion of the filename. All should work now but you will lose everything up to your last save point.

I had a blue screen of death crash with my hp computer (mainly problem #6) while playing The Sims 3. It’s code number was stop: 0×00000124 (0×00000000, 0xB2000010, 0x00010C0F). I could play anywhere from five minutes to four hours and my computer would crash randomly. I have a nvidia 6150se nForce graphics card, which I have been keeping up to date. After contacting my computer manufacturer and EA, I finally decided to e-mail Microsoft. I’m still testing my game, but it seems like what I did helped stop the crashes; however, it does lag or slow down at times. First, I disconnect from the internet completely. Then, I disable my internet security (Norton), end all unnecessary background tasks in Task Manager, and disabled many startup programs in msconfig (I’m running this on Vista). After that, I tested my RAM and video card, which all came up clean. One thing that really helped me was to close the game down periodically and come back to it a few seconds later. By watching Task Manager while doing this, I realized that closing down The Sims 3 reallocated about 75% of my memory (It was at 80% in the game and 20% after exiting). Another thing is that it didn’t make a difference if I was in full screen or windowed mode. One other thing I did was type in sysdm.cpl in my search bar in the start menu, went to advanced in that menu, and click settings, where I changed one of the options in the system failure section that said kernel memory dump to small memory dump. I got that info from Microsoft. Like I said, I’m still testing, so I don’t know if this works or not, but it seems to be doing fine (knock on wood). I’m hoping it can help some of you guys out with the BSOD crashes. It was so frustrating, and I’ve done a lot of research on the problem. I can’t guarantee these steps will work just so you know; I’m not an expert on this. I also suspect this problem is related specifically to the game’s programming, and hopefully, it can fixed by a patch.

Theres no problem with the requirements – my laptop meets them all – and my disk drive works as ive tried other disks, also the cd is fine as it runs on my friends laptop which is the same as my laptop….SO WHY WONT IT WORK ON MINE!!! PLLEEEAAASSSEEEE HELP
The game crashes especially in build mode and while saving. EA did a poor job this time. A lot of hype was created by EA for this game but sorry to say that they haven’t lived up to the mark this time.

FOllow all the step listed below #4. Now if you have the AIM prompt to upgrade to the lastest version, upgrade. This seems to jacking up the load of SIM3. Works fine with the excepts of over heat crashes.

I had the same strange problems. I bought the game and tried to install it. Everything went right. But then I wanted to play it… and it keeps crashing. Mostly during saving.. which corrupts the save.. I got no error. I tried it on Windows 7, Vista and eventually on Winxp X64. Nothing worked. I updated all my drivers etc. Nothing worked. Then I removed my 2nd graphics card.. so no SLi anymore… It looked like that fixed the problem.. I suddenly can play for hours now… but it still crashes once and a while… but the crashes are different then before. With both graphic cards in my pc it just closes down Sims 3 and let me see the desktop. With one graphic card it just freezes once in a while… very strange.. But it’s better playable… when saving alot…
My conclusion: EA made some errors creating the game.. I hope they will soon notice the problems and create a new patch… this is very crappy!!!! But the game is awesome
Random crashes, have tried disabling anti-virus (running Avast), running in windowed mose with default settings, all my drivers are up to date and I have cleaned my registry.
I’m running Intel core duo 2 gig processor (operating as 4 gig), 2 gig ram, NVidia 8600 video (512mb), realtek HD audio. XP service pack 2.
I tried the no-cd crack option that works for securom conflict crashes and that didn’t work either.
Okay, my game freezes when any Sim, even the butler, goes to clean out the refrigerator. There diamonds still rotate on the head and the music and sound affects, like a washing machine and the norm music will still keep going, but everything is frozen, i have to unplug my computer countless times. MY GOD! i just bought sims 3 new from ebay i get home get excited tear it open chuck in the disc drive to hear

I was having the disk error problem for SIMS 3. EA has just (FINALLY) released a patch for Sims 3 to take care of this problem. I have a Toshiba computer and downloaded the patch thru EA’s download manager and it worked perfectly after that.
hiiii, i was able to play the sims3 fine like 3 times but today its not letting me, everytime it gets past the into movie thing and to the loading screen i get a message the”the sims3 has encountered an error” and askes me to send an error report or not. i don’t knwo if its relevebt but i did only just get the update of the sims3 this morning, i don’t know

Hi – I’m at my wits end. Same problem as Sam.
Cannot install the sims 3 at all – even though I’ve triple checked that my system meets the minimum requirements.
Have purchased more memory, have a Nvidia Ge 6200, which I know isn’t brilliant but is on the list of acceptable cards.
Have tried ending all applicaations and processes through task manager, have tried manually installing etc but the disc doesn’t show up and when I go to the DVD-ROM drive in My Computer and click on it, it freezes my whole computer.
Currently in email correspondence with EA tech support, but reeeeeally not helping.
Has anyone come accross this before? Any help that anyone can give will be soooo appreciated. Thank you.

I bought the Sims 3 yesterday. When i got home to play it, I inserted the disc into my Macbook Pro and it spit it right back out 30 seconds later. Today, I went back to BestBuy to exchange the disc, and tried it again. It did the same thing… Why is it doing this and how can i fix it??

Same problem as Jay. Random crashes.. shuts my laptop down as if i turned it of suddenly .. It works fine on an old xp computer that i have with stats way less than what this one has. I also have the nvidia geforce 8800 card I have tried every posted fix i could find

I had an issue with sims 3 loading to a black screen with only the cursor and sound. A reinstall of XP and SP2 without using the ATI drivers fixed it instantly. Using the XP drivers allowed direct 3d at level 8 and 9 to run and the game started no issue.
I noticed something interesting
my sims games will load and play fine on live mode-even buy/build mode UNLESS I buy or click to many items (specially change the colors of designs) i think my computer can’t keep track of all the reversable date (the arrows that you click as an undo) if a I move an object to 50 different spots it will crash because it can’t sustain those 50 spaces in its undo memory. same with create a sim. If I have more than 20 changes that my computer has to remember it will crash.
I wish there was an option to get rid of the undo I believe it the ource of the crash for most games. Computers can’t remeber so many changes despite meeting minimum requirements
i just installed the sims 3 and everytime i play for a few minutes my entire computer will randomly shut completely off, going from whatever i was doing (creating a sim because that is all i have time to do( usually 3-5 min)) to instantly a black screen and the computer totally shut off, no error message no nothing. when i boot up after the shut off windows tells me it has recovered from an unexpected shutdown and asks what mode i would like to start windows in (normal / safe etc)

I’m having the same problem as the first #6 except I’m not running a toshiba laptop, I don’t have that disc drive, I meet all the system requirements, and I’m not using DLA.

It’s called Beta Testing.
I installed Sims 3 just fine, it loads up properly, but for some reason once when i pick the only town I can play on my computer restarts itself. What can i do to fix this problem?

Cheers for this site! My game started crashing all of a sudden to the point where I couldn’t even create Sims, and I had only had the game for about 2 days. Anyway your driver information worked brilliantly, and though I have not appeared to have any problems with AVG, I may consider disabling it while playing. Apologies for taking up space, just wanted to say thanks a million!
JOE and BECKY – I had the exact same problem as you and I’m sure many others. Try updating your driver. You can check the type of driver your computer has by doing the following:
Right click on MY COMPUTER
Select PROPERTIES
Select the HARDWARE tab
Click DEVICE MANAGER
Expand DISPLAY ADAPTER by clicking on it
Listed here you will see the brand and model of Video Card that you are using
Double click the listing and click the DRIVER tab
Once you figure that out, all you need to do is go to the appropriate company site listed above for your particular driver and download the update. If that doesn’t work (and it probably will), try disabling your virus protection.
The sims 3 worked fine here, till the latest patch. After the intro movie, in the beginning of the loading screen, it just shuts down. I’ve updated all drivers, shutdown AVG, but still it just shuts down. Someone who knows the answer for this problem?
I have played The Sims 3 before and had no problems at all, except for occasional crashes. Thats not a big problem. Recently, when ever I press the play button on the Sims 3 launcher, the game trys to start and then turns into a window of black. Also another window pops up that says, “Unable to start game. Service initialization failed (0x0175d824).”

Running it in windowed mode works for me, though the game’s running a little slower than in full screen mode due to all the stuff in the background, but still beats getting the bsod after playing for 20 min.
Problem #1 but weird variation, game runs fine until random crash then if try and play again get Problem #1 and can’t play until I restart the computer. Computer exceeds requirements, have Norton turned off but still get a random crash after say.. an hour? Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks x

I am having a problem i have not yet found anyone mentioning in any of the fourms the problem i am having is sims who are fat/skinny wimpy/muscular are all shown the same except the torso and legs are offset from the rest of the sim creating a seam around the neck waist and ankles and with the extremes it is much more than a seam its a compleate disconnection of the limbs and torso from the rest of the sim the rest of the game runs smoothly and it perfectly playable but it is a rather annoying glitch

it wont open and i even tried to take that disk back and reinstall the game of a new disk but i still have the same problem.

Hey! So sims 3, what a crock of shit. I got the disc authentication failure error thing, and now it’s gone so far as to delete my disk driver software. Anyone know how I can get it back? Help would be greatly appreciated! xo
I have installed this, no trouble at all; went perfectly fine, updating also went fine.
Game starts up fine, but I can’t get any further than the Create-A-Sim section. After 10 minutes or so the game just closes, without any error or whatsoever. (This also happened before I updated it)
All my drivers are up to date, I meet all the system requirements, I uninstalled AVG, I don’t use the launcher to start up the game, I’ve tried windowed mode, … I tried every possible solution and yet I still get the same issue every time. It’s quite frustrating… What am I doing wrong?

Alternate fix to #4 (works for me): first of all i have an EVGA 260GTX and the game kept freezing with all the #4 listed fixes applied, when i forced the videocard vent to 100% it stopped crashing (tested it twice), i think that in my case the game crashes when the gpu temp (using evga precision to monitor it) reaches 62C and over (69C was the max stable temp), sound weird but with the card below 60C the game works great and with all the graphic setting set to max, antivirus on, 1680×1050 fullscreen mode and max antialiasing.

Works great on my machine, black screens on hers.. I have the NOCD Patch so I can run it without the CD, she doesn’t…

I’ve just installed the EVGA tool to see if that helps it at all.. but I don’t know… her PC runs 8 degrees C cooler than mine (I have more fans, the only difference is case!) but I do have 3 hard disks compared to her 2. otherwise all the same…

Ugh! Okay so my parents just got this really nice new PC computer and I thought sims3 would work perfectly on it but it sucks. This is what always happens, the computer screen flashes black then come back and the screen is so dark I can’t even tell what’s going on. Then it keeps flashing until it finally crashes.
It sucks and I can’t even play for more then 5 minutes before it starts to freak out and I don’t think my parents would like me to uninstall the anti-virus. We have McAfee or something.

While playing the sims 3, I saved my game and in the middle of saving the game it crashed! After restarting my computer (again), it shows that my file is still there, but it doesn’t show the family. It shows the outline of the family and when I click on it to play it, it doesn’t play at all. Any advice in solving this problem? This is the first time it has happened to me and I will be extremely upset if I can’t get my original file back.

Hey guys I have collected some ides for fixing from different site, maybe things that are missing should be added in this thread.
-unplug computer from the internet
-usenewest direct x (10)
-use newest .net (3.0)
-use newest graphics driver
-do not use overclocking
-delete all previous sims games and drivers
(for a clean install of new software)
-clean install for all software (cleanest is format PC)
-us newest sound and board driver
-get the pc cooler (either graphics card or cpu overheat -> blackscreen/sound freeze)
-do not use a second monitor (disable second display)
-do not use anti virus software
-play game in windowed mode
-run defragmenter
The fixes should be done beginning with the ones that do not involve radical changes like formating.
What is missing in this thread is the fix to SWITCH OFF THE INTERNET ENTIRELY. Because the application constantly checks the EA servers for authentic software, these checks crash the game/pc because the servers are not fast enough or too busy or send wrong information.
Maybe EA intended to crash the games on purpose when it finds out that the copy is a crack. But the wiered thing is that it also happens with software that is bought. Mine for example is from amazon, I dont think they sell pirated software.

Hi, I installed Sims 3 just fine however when I try to start it, it goes perfectly fine at the beginning and the whole EA thing appears but after that I get the blue screen of death and my computer restarts. I’m having a problem saving my sims 3 game, It’ll save if I save almost as soon as I start playing but after about five minutes I’ll just get an error 13 when trying to save. When I click the “Sims 3 Game Launcher” to start up the game or install official game content from EA, an error box pops up saying: Sims3Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. I cannot see my sims that I create. They are black with green and red lines all over them. Sometimes I can see them, but only for a split second or two. I can’t see other sims either. Also, some floors, like wood, don’t show up. They flash red and purple.

I admit, my laptop is NOT up to the required specs of the game, so it runs a little slow.
I WAS having serious problems with the BSoD, in the “black screen with sound” flavor. I updated ALL my drivers and my WinXp, I disabled my internet, and I played it in Window mode. Played the game again all last night without a single crash.
So, if this variety of BSoD is your issue, you may want to give those three things a try, specifically.

CORRECTION for AJ:
No for XP you only need 1 GB RAM. Read the requirements carefully. Requirements can be found on the cd in a readme or after install in startmenu folder of ElectronicArts->Sims3 in a readme.
HOW TO GET YOUR SYSTEM SPECIFICATION:
VISTA: open Startmenu -> enter “dxdiag” in the search field(opens direct x screen) -> click “save all info/alle info speichern” -> save this to the desktop (file on desktop is readable with editor) -> copy and paste content of file on the net
XP: open Startmenu -> click Ausführen/Execute -> type “dxdiag”(opens direct x screen) -> lick “save all info/alle info speichern” -> save this to the desktop (file on desktop is readable with editor) -> copy and paste content of file on the net
ANOTHER TIP:
Use EAs support site or the support pages delivered when installing the game: can be found in startmenu folder of ElectronicArts->Sims3->technicalSupport.htm/Technischer Kundendienst.htm (something like that)

LAUNCHER(or EADM)-ERROR + POSSIBLE FIXES
1. read the main post and the tips I gave in the posts above.
2. the error can be caused by a corrupted download try to delete all corrupted or paused downloads from the EADM
3. the error can be caused by corrupted config files in your Sims3 custom content folders found under My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\
Delete this folder after saving a copy to another location, if this works, start the game again: the game recreates the structure of this folder and you can reinstall your custom content.
4. the error can be caused by corrupted files in the main game folders found under Programs\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\
Try cleanly uninstalling the game, after saving all your custom content, and reinstalling the game again
5. if you really need a clean system: format your computer and reinstall Windows with all the up-to-date drivers and software
Here are the requirements and possible SOLUTIONS TO VARIOUS PROBLEMS (some already mentioned in the main post):
-use newest directX version (9.0c for XP, 10 for Vista)
-use up-to-date version of OS (newest Service Packs, relevant updates)
-use newest .net (3.0)
-use newest graphics drivers and tools
-us newest sound and board drivers

-check hardware compatibility of your system components (for self modded computers)
-do not use a second monitor/or graphics card (disable/uninstall second display, do not use SLI/disable SLI in BIOS)
-do not use anti virus software/Firewalls or adjust Firewall(crazy but EA-recommended)
-unplug computer from the internet
-play game in windowed mode
-run defragmenter
-in Vista: give the Launcher, EA Download Manager and/or Sims3 Game Administrator rights and XP Compatibility mode (for that open the attributes of the applications)
-add the EA website and download servers to trusted websites (in your firewall settings and/or internet settings of windows)

ADDITION:
the most important thing you have to do first, check the minimum requiorements of the game for your system (check whether your graphics card is supported, how much RAM is needed etc.
My sims 3 disk plays sometimes and other times it says “no disk inserted” when it is in their..I dont know what is going on with it but I never had these problems with the sims 2.
Maybe your disk has scratches or is dirty
PS: Or maybe your DVD device is to old: try updating the drivers.

Solution A :WHAT DOES THIS MEAN????????I have the same problem………… If you are attempting running Sims 3 with a secondary monitor attached, The game wont work and you will get this error. Try to disable the second monitor via display properties or unplug it prior to running Sims 3

Try to reset your sim:
open the console by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del (for germans Strg+Alt+Entf)
then type into the console “resetsim SIM_NAME” or type “help resetsim” this shows how to use this.

You maybe have 2 graphics cards installed or 2 monitors in use for the computer, ask someone that knows a little about computers, u should not use 2 cards or/and 2 monitors.
Other reason for this error can be that your graphicscard is not supported by the game check the requirements of the game and your graphics card info.

actually I had the same problem, but luckily when turning of internetconnection everything works fine. I also do not have any da….. clue why this is the case.
I cant get the sims working on my Desktop either, its only working on laptop. I think this issue is not solved so easily and fast, I am not even sure whether they will fix it at all.
I think that it is an issue with incompatibility with a lot of systems, because EA made the game available for so many platforms, but thats just a guess,
A 90% chance that the internet and security tools of the game are the biggest reason.
Actuallly I didnt even encountered the problems the new patch fixed, it was just small bugfixes for me and not a huge step into compatibility mode

I think the Sims3 patches cleared this issue, download the latest patch with the Launcher.
Otherwise check your DVD drive: update drivers or try a newer drive.

You have to google wisely my first hit was the following, sounds kind of helpful:
Unfortunately for some of us, the recently released Sims 3 can cause some headache, especially due to some unwanted errors, like the “Disc Authentication Error” message many people are reporting (which appears to be generally connected with the “MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S” device. But don’t worry anymore! Thanks to Electronic Arts we have the answer to correct the disc authentication error on your computer!
According to an official troubleshooting message, this disc authentication error in The Sims 3 usually appears when or if your machine has DLA installed on it (software that allows DVD recording by drag and dropping). Here is what you have to do in order to deal with this problem and solve it:
- Click on the Start menu on the Windows Taskbar.
- Click on My Computer.
- Right-click on the DVD drive letter you are using to run your game.
- Select Properties from the list of options.
- You should see a DLA tab in the Properties panel, where you can disable the DLA software on your machine.
If disabling the DLA software from the Properties panel does not solve your issue, you can also try to update the drivers for your DLA software through the manufacturer’s website. If updating your drivers still causes you to get the ‘disc read authentication’ error, you might want to completely uninstall your DLA software using the ‘Add or Remove Programs‘ tool in the Control Panel.
If you have no DLA but still receiving the Disc Authentication Error message, you should try to turn off or uninstall any disc emulation software you might have (such as Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%). Hope this solves you disc authentication problems in the Sims 3 and you can fully enjoy your game!

My crashes at the load up screen. EVERY time it gets a little way (not even a 1/4 of the way) and crashes at the same exact time. I’ve tried un/and re- installing SEVERAL times. I’ve deleted all of my custom content. Deleted the previous saved files and everything. STILL it crashes the same time. I can’t even put it in window mode cause I can’t get past the loading screen. i have 2 high end machines with more than adequate video cards, and yes the cards have the latest nvidia drivers for each. in addition, extra cooling is applied to the machines externally via small fans blowing fresh air at the cooling intakes. both cards run hot, and only on the sims. further, resource use jumps far higher than with any other program. for example, guild wars boosts resource use from about 27% to about 35%, but the sims boosts resource use to 67% and higher. i can run nearly every other program i own simultaneously with less increase. the boxes are both 64 bit with 6GB of ram for one and 8GB of ram for the other. the OS is Vista Ultimate, and AV is McAfee on the former and Kaspersky on the latter. The cards are: nvidia 9800 GT with 512MB on the 8GB machine, and nvidia GTX 260 with 896MB on the 6GB machine. my thinking is major memory leaks. so far, the GTX 260 has not failed, but the 9800 GT certainly has any time the external fan is not porperly aimed. the weird thing there is the 9800 GT does not get nearly as hot as the GTX 260. speedfan shows a 25 degree lower temp on the 9800. both machines also have intel quad processors. sims 3 is the ONLY program of many high end games to cause any trouble for either machine.

I noticed the same things. My guess is similar:
I think the programm is buggy concerning detail level of the graphics in game (backface culling, edge reduction etc.) thats why it always crashes when zooming or panning to fast in the game world. Also the crashes when going from create a sim back to the map is caused by that. It must have something to do with the cash and pageerrors, graphical data loading from disk to cash.
I guess the reason for this is that even the same graphics card can differ dependend on the manufacturer: for example my RADEON is developed by HIS and the game does crash although the card should be supported.

check if you have a 64bit processor: Sims3 only supports 32bit systems
My computer for example has a Athlon 64 although with windows 32bit version, this causes trouble and the game crashes.
I should try the 64bit version of windows maybe the problem is fixed then. But it could be of no help as well. EA made tghe suggestion to reduce all the options in game to minimum, then it could maybe work, i’ll see if that works.

hi i bought sims 3 and installed it and everything!!! played it for awhile and shut my laptop…i tried paying it and it says something about insert the right disk error…i unistalled it and now my computer won’t install it back on please help i llove this game!!!
i bought sims 3 about a month ago, and installed it on more than one computer. on one my computers, it will crash randomly and freeze…but when it freezes im in either buy or build mode. when i try to get back to live mode, it wont. i tried to save because it said it was in live mode, but when i went to the save button it said i had to save in live mode. i can switch to build or buy mode while it “froze” and i can take pictures and such, but i cant command my sims. i dont want to quit because i spent so long and i dont want to lose it. how can i save it??
My Sims freezes every time i play. My specs: AMD athlon x2 dual 3,0 ghz; 4 gb ram, ati radeon hd 4850, vista ultimate 32 bit, it’s a month old computer… I bought a new cooler for the graphics; cleaned my registry, installed new drivers for my graphics; i play in windowed mode with avast disabled… and it still randomly chrashes- freezes and than i have to manually restart my system… Why, o God why???

hell, i even downgraded from 1.4.6. version because i had some problems…
I am getting quite pissed with EA at the moment my question answer game with the support team is now going on since July and it seems as if the answers are automated and not individual answers. Constantly ignoring what the customer writes.
I gave it up right now, to get tha game working on my PC, luckily it works on my laptop.
Concerning 64bit processors, I wrote to EA that my Athlon 64 Dual Core +6000 supports both 32bits and 64bits, I still did not get an answer wether this affects anything in the game.
But to my knowledge (I studied Applied Computer Science) there shouldnt be a problem, my system uses XP Pro 32bit and is running fine with the 64bit processor, as the system uses 32bits, the game shouldnt have any problems.
For those who want to know what these BIT values mean:
32 bits / 64 bits is the size of words (code words, instructions) a computer can use/analyse. Such a word has a special structure: the first 8 bits for example are header information about the instruction type, then there are bits of the actual instruction code and after that other information.
A game needs to know which structure is used to create the right instructions/code. If a game uses 32 bit words it has to analyse code in another way than when using 64bits.
As Sims3 does not support 64bits it would read a 64bit word as if it were 2 32bit words and therefor messing up. This makes the system crash, because the game thinks it gets header information of the second word allthough it is still reading the body of a 64bit word…..
With a processor like mine it is possible to use either 32 or 64bits, your choice. As my OS is the 32bit version of Windows XP pro there schouldnt be a problem.
BUT as I am not a programmer of Microsofts or EAs software I dont know wether this combination of 64bit processor and 32bit OS could cause trouble when playing 32bit games.
I think its a matter of support for the technology as there are so many vendors like AMD, INTEL, HIS, ATI, … it is difficult to say where exactly the problem is. So I can to some point understand EA. Nowadays its tough to create a game that can be used for any thinkable configuration of system.
Hmm I have to admit that there answers are damn fast, just send an update of my question and a few hours later they come up with another solution suggestion, Ill try the idea tomorrow, it says that there are several recorded problems with Ati Radeon 2600 Cards and that a critical fix is available and the setting for anti-alising has to bechanged. Ill tell you more tomorrow.

I tried that out, didnt work still experiencing crashes. I send them some details about errors occuring after the crashes.
Goto: Open your system settings and administration and there open event… dont know that in english. Ther you can find logging info about everything. goto system and if there are errors remember what the last entry is, start the game until the system crashes and check all new entries.
For me there were errors saying I had a system crash, one that said that a service could not load (cdrom service, might be the reason for the crash) and some other errors.
EA currently handed over to some technicians that try to find the reason and figure out wether any of these errors is the reason, so far this is my answer from EA:

The options dialog box (where you can change the graphics and gameplay seettings) won’t stay open. I’ll try to open it, and It will flicker briefly before disappearing. It appears to close itself immediately after I open it.
Okay, so I’ve got a whole host of problems, but the fact that my game crashes in buy mode is currently the biggest. I’ve disabled my antivirus software, I’m running the game in windowed mode, and my drivers are all up to date. My computer is well above and beyond the minimum requirements to run the Sims 3, and I’m running Vista 64. Any more troubleshooting suggestions?

I am having a problem where I can play everything fine exept when my sim goes to try to do anything on the computers in the game. When it does that my computer which is a Compaq Presario PC crashes.
I have the problem where it randomly crashes when in build mode. I updated my card, it is an acceptable one. but i cant switch it to windowed mode because the options menu will not show up. I can click on the 3 dots at the bottom, but when i click on ‘options’ a box (which i assume is the options box) flickers on and then off instantly, and i can never get it to show.
Em well my sim was down on energy and needed a shower and was hungery, but i totally forgot, so i sent it with the rest of the sims to put one there family members in the grave yard, and like everyone went home but then, my sim just stayed there and cancelled the meet up activitie and i tried sending it home and stuff but it wont let me do anything, it just stuck on the cancelled meet up activitied and wont go away, and all my other sims are fine, so i dont know what to do please help me?

Wow, quite the helper.
You’re CPU isn’t a problem. If that’s what EA told you, they’re just riding the disclaimer because they don’t know what the issue is/don’t care to try and find it. I am running a 64-bit CPU myself (as are many others I’d wager, as most CPUs these days are 64-bit), and the game runs fine. I’m also running it on a 64-bit OS (Windows 7 RC to be precise). The game works near perfect for me.
I have had two crashes since it came out (both were crashes to the desktop with no errors). One was when three characters tried going into a larger sized house I just built, and another recently during a save attempt. Both dumps I have claim they were caused by one write error, and one read error, so maybe my overclock (the RAM, precisely) isn’t entirely 100% stable (I’m running 8GB of RAM via four modules, and overclocking with four modules takes more toll). The game generally works fine for me. This just seems to be a game that is picky about the environment it’s in. Some PCs it won’t play nice with, be it the CD/DVD drive, CPUs or GPUs overheating, software drivers, etc. I do hope EA tries to make some more patches to get it better, and perhaps add a few things to the game itself to make it a bit better (though I like it worlds better than Sims 2, it is still missing a few things, but that’s for another time).
Good luck getting it working on your desktop (if you haven’t given up yet).
I have a problem all of a sudden with my sims 3. the screen is jumpy and kind of flashes and the sims are almost kinda stuck on moving fast even though slow is selected. Have never had this problem before – the 2 things i did different before playing were uploading new content – in this case a new town which was a free download with purchase and when i opened game…i deleted a previous game i didn’t like. Then when i opened the game i DO like it jumps when u move mouse to edge of screen etc. Really annoyed I want it to go back to normal so i can play =( HELP!
Black screen appears within 10 mins EVERY time… I have 2 PC’s and my new PC (Duo Core 2 with Nvida 7950GT) works fine. It is my old pc (the kids pc) which doesnt work. I have updated all of my Nvida Drivers incl Direct X separately from M/soft site…

Hey i tried to open the options menu and it just flashes the options menu and i cant get it to open to put it in windowed mode.. Any suggestions?
My game runs perfectly, no problems at all expect for when I open buy mode, it switches straight to build mode its own which works fine. If I then switch it back to buy mode the guys just goes off, no “not responding” or anything, it just turns off. I’ve tried all the help above to no avail. My specs are all fine, and like I said, the game only goes off on Buy Mode.
I also get the problem above where the Options menu just flashes on for a second then disapears.
Alicia who posted above, press ctrl and shift and c, a box will come up type in: fullscreen off that’ll put you in window mode.
Whenever my sims use the computer, the game just shuts down. Rather, the game shuts down as soon as they STOP using the computer. It’s happened to me with multiple sims from different houses or neighborhoods using different computers. It’s incredibly annoying as the computers are needed for some of the jobs and skills. Anybody know how to fix it?

The game keeps crashing randomly. Sometimes when creating a sim, the textures will get all spotty and it will get super slow. Sometimes when going to other lots, the grass texture will get spotty and it will crash. I’m re-installing right now to see if it’s just a problem loading the textures. But with my computer’s specs, there’s no reason the game should not be running flawlessly.
Okay, so not ONLY is my game crashing after buy/build mode, but I try to go to the options to change to windowmode, and it won’t even let me open my options. It doesn’t crash, it just won’t open when I click it. Does anyone know what’s up with this?? email me if so….

My boyfriend and I – as well as several others I’ve found on the internet – have the same problem: We create our Sim, and all works out – until we try to move. The moment we attempt to do so, our Sim gets stuck in the mailbox and can’t get out no matter what you click on or what direction you try to go in. The moment you go into Buy Mode, the entire thing crashes.
I bought Sims 3 DVD yesterday and when the installation is around half done it asks me insert next disk, but there is no next disk. It says please insert the disk 1 that contains the file Gamedata\shared\packages\FullBuild1.package.

i installed the sims 3 a few weeks ago and haven’t had any problems what-so-ever. then I got a zune HD and had to update windows so that the software for it will work. Since the updates, the game crashes anytime I try to place anything in buy/build mode. Is there a certain update that caused it? Or could it be something else?
I have installed sims 3 when I had MSI motherboard and then the game was running great, but that motherboard isnt working anymore. Now I have BIOSTAR P31-A7 motherboard and I installed sims 3, run the game launcher and when I click play button, the screen goes black for 2 seconds and then it turns back on desktop…I dont think that motherboard is causing this problem but what is?

Hey all, I recently bought Sims 3 and installed without issue. When launching, I would get a full black screen and then an immediate crash back to desktop. After reading everything I could find on the issue I found no help. Ultimately I figured out that the Sims 3 is NOT playable with the most recent Nvidia drivers. I had version 191.07 as of 11/09/2009. I found an older version… 190.xx I believe and now the Sims 3 play flawlessly!
I had Problem #7 (black screen) :

the game would start but only saw a black screen then return to the desktop.
I fixed the issue by DISABLING Nod32
game run smooth now.

Choppy game play.
Very , very slow rendering, about 10 mins to load each section of the car journey, the town , the home. Infuriating !!
Game takes anywhere from 30 mins to an hour to load the game and a slightly less amount of time to save it.

i’m having such a tough time with my game. just recently, i haven’t been able to go into buy mode at all. i uninstalled some stuff that could be causing conflict and it STILL doesn’t work. my computer meets all specs, and i have never had a problem with this game before.

i go into buy mode–>deco—>click on something—>no warning, no error, screen shuts down and goes back to desktop. the game isn’t running anymore. T.T

when I try to save files in The Sims 3
I also have been having prblems #4 I’ve had the game since it came out. Been playing it with no problems until today!! After i downloaded to update the game won’t load. I uninstalled and took everything out that may be causing a problem and reinstalled twice now. I disabled norton updated my video card. I don’t know what else to do. As soon as I choose a town to play it just shuts off. just stops running. Like i said i don’t know what else to do. If anyone can help me it would be great!!

My problem is that the game exits to windows when i try to add a basement to an existing lot
I can start a new lot and add a basment and then build a house no problem
but as soon as i import a lot from the libary and try to add a basement the game quits

Sims 3 crashes on build/buy mode after using motherlode cheat and continues to crash on other new games or loaded games.
Sims 3 was workign fine for me then this morning when i clicked the play button the whole screen would go black and there would be a beep so when i click the windows button a box comes up with unable to start game service initialization failed (0x6224dd27) I tried the solution to the first problem six (there are 2) but i could not find the dla on the properties menu thingy. I am not very good with computers I don’t know what a video card is or how to cool it. I have a dell inspiron 530 which was runnign the game very well until this happened whenever i try to install my downloaded content it says the same thing please help me asap!!!
my sims3 makes my computer act crazy. When i’m not playing, the the thing that you put the disc in opens and closes all the time. Also, when I’m playing, the screen often blacks out. After doing that the mouse acts weird and I have to shut it down. Any ideas on what is happening?
Hiya, I am not very good with computers and have just thought of somthing, when you click on sims 3 and the window comes up with the play button and everything and somtimes it comes up with updates and things for your game are those patches If they are then I am really annoyed because the last patch i installed made my game stop working I have the same problem as xyzar now and it is realy getting on my nerves!

I just don’t understand..My game randomly crashes. No rhyme or reason, no particular spot makes it crash and sometimes doesn’t even slow down it just crashes to desktop. However, I have noticed 2 things, everytime I’m trying to design furniture/wallpaper/rugs or whatever, and every time I try to talk to the adventurer in China, it wants to shut down. Sometimes I actually make it through the design process. So like I said, no particular pattern. However, ever since I bought the first game (TS3) it has been crashing. I’m so tired of this.

Hey .. Ok so i had to install and uninstall mu sims quite often because it just wouldnt work … Everytime i install the game it wont let me play unless i update it (patch 1.6 i think). But then it just wont load the game, it says that a “unknown error has occurred”.

ok my husband just recently bought me the sims 3 world adbventures. I already had the sims 3 original i did not realise till he brought it home that my video graphics card was a ge force 6100 and was not compatible . so i went down to pc tech and they up graded it to a MSInx8400Gs also made by geforce . the tech said it would work i had brought my game in to show him. now neither sims3 or world exploration works. and everything in my nearly new pc is supposed to be compatible with these games. Hey um my game starts up normally without any problems but when it is loading on the first loading screen the bar fills as normal but nothing happens. The little message underneath does not change but the mouse icon is still that loading circle thing…help? When I go to change active household, instead of entering my new household… it will just show me an image of the neighborhood and i will be unable to click on another house, or do anything… the menu at the bottom of the screen also disappears. if anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know asap.

I’ve been playing the Sims 3 for a while and I’ve never had any problems but today i opened the launcher and clicked play. A box came up. It said ‘Error the process could not be started.’ Please help!
I seem to have the same problem as Richard. My house is one that came with the game, I added it to a lot and my sim lives there.
Well while I was customizing the house to my liking I thought I’d add a basement. Every time I go to click on the basement it closes out of the game.
Is there anyway I can fix this issue?

you have to buy a better vidio card to get the sims 3 to work i should know i had to buy i new vidio card with better resilution to get the sims 3 to work so BUY A BETTER VIDIO CARD
I load the sims 3 and it works fine. Then when it comes up to the main menu, where u select a town, my most resent town there, but its see through, all there is, is a house and a picture of a guy, i click on it for it to load, but it says, “a serious error has occured while loading “sunset Valley #3,sims3″ it is strongly recommended that you restart the application.” how do i fix it, and or restart it.

hey, I just bought Sims 3 and installed it successfully, but whenever Sunset Valley is loading, the game just exits out and all I see is the desktop (not even any error messages!).

My sims 3 has troubles saving. It never says error anything. It just doesnt save my stuff. i saved several times but only shut off of the game 3 times. the 1st time i turned it back on it only saved my people not their house or anything they did. the second time it saved the people, their home, and part of what they did. but not much of what they did. so we switched to a new lot and made a copmpletely new home. and played for quite a while. this morning when i turned it back on our people were completely gone. they were no where to be found. the house and everything was gone. there was nothing saved at all. it was like it was never used.i check my hard drive its a 500 gb and it still is 60% free. now my computer is really slow. it took like 10 minutes to type this message and the game isnt saving. help?
I can’t even install Sims 3. It always gets stuck on File 3. And I cant get out of the installation without restarting my computer manually… For the past two hours it has said 38 minutes remaining. Last night for 1 hour it said 32 minutes remaing. And before that 32 minutes remaing for 2 hours. I then restart my computer and try it again. help please? Mac 10.6.2 2.53 GHz processor.
Okay so I just got this game. Both my PC and laptop can run it.
Problems:
On the PC (which is Windows XP) during Create-a-sim everything works except when I go to edit the face. It then freezes and I cannot exit with ctrl, alt, and delete.
On the laptop (which is Windows Vista and only a year old) i cannot change the weight or muscle of my sims. The sims react, but the sim glitches (such as the body is detached, head, etc.)
I have no idea what to do!
ok so every once in awhile when I quit sim 3 and come back a couple hours and I start the game the game starts but I can’t do anything but use the arrows to move my view. can you help because the is really pissing me off. also when this happens all my custom clothing reverts to what it was made from.
Ok…So I’m using a brand new Dell Inspiron and Sims 3 has worked perfectly fine for me the past few weeks. No glitches, errors or unexpected shut downs. That is until last night I tried loading the game like usual. The game went about it’s normal loading process, and all was well until I was asked if I wanted to continue my current game or begin a new one. I clicked to continue, and the game started to load. Only then did I encounter an issue. The load bar at the bottom of the screen paused and the screen went black (black screen problem #7) leading me back to the desktop. Is my computer’s video card busted? After barely a month of use? Please let me know soon! If you need specs please let me know how to find them…I’m not too computer savvy.

I was playing world adventures and then it said it wouldn’t save becuase it was error 16 or something. Ok so I cut my loses and decided I could just do it over. that was last night. I opened it today ow my person doesn’t show up, I have 0 dollars – I had almost 800,000 and I cant click any of the buttons. This is like the only person I have played while I have had the game and I had all the challeneges done on just the regular sims 3 – I think it is the world adventures. I had the same thing that happened to kim’s (number 282).
When I try to access my family, a message pops up that says “A serious error has occured. It is strongly recomended that you restart the program”. And when i restart it, it does the same thing! it does this for every family i create.
Everytime I play the sims 3 a message pops up sayinng, “The ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft.” This happenes while i am creating a sim( it crashs when i pick out the hair of a girl). ummm i was wondering if anybody else has a problem with their sims 3 game getting stuck on the loading screen? i had downloaded some different hairstyles and stuff for my game and they worked fine.but i didnt want to slow the game down or mess up my laptop so i deleted most of the downloaded stuff. i restarted the game and it started getting stuck on the loading screen. i then deleted all of the downloaded content but my game still kept getting stuck on the screen. after restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling my game still keeps getting stuck on the screen…the little loading bar loads fast but instead of progressing to the next screen where you pick which saved game/world you want to play it just stays on the screen with the loading baar and stuff…can someone tell me what i can possibly do to get my game to start working right again??

I downloaded a house then went into it while in edit town to paint, do floors, windows, doors… but I didn’t do any furniture because I wanted the furniture from the family inventory of the sims I was going to move in. When I moved in the sims it got stuck on move mode. Whenever I try to enter build/buy mode, or edit town a message appears saying “cannot enter build/buy mode while a move is in process”. Since I can’t enter edit town I can’t move them out then in again, or change household. I’ve tried using the phone to move them out, but it says “you’re not able to move at this time”.

hi, i’m having a simular problem to no 6, but my game was fine before then, it did freeze up now and then in create a sim, but that doesn’t really both me so much at the moment i was on a mission where you had to figure out the colour coder me at the moment, i as in egypt, in the expantion pack, and was in the middle of a mission where you had to solve the colour code and i saved it and turned off my computer, now it says A system error has occurred and to restart applicaation, so i exited out of the game and tryed again, still the same, then i tryed to restart my computer and do it again and it still didn’t work so i tried doing MrKMG — June 21, 2009 @ 7:28 am
I found a problem and solution incase anyone else runs into this.
Problem:
Computer Crashes/Battery Dies/etc while your game is saving. The next time you try to load The Sims 3 the game crashes on the initial load screen before it starts to say all the silly things like “Unloading Loading Screens”.
Solution: First go to your documents folder.
*Mac: Go to your home folder(Shift + Apple + H). Browse to Documents
*Windows: Go to your “My Documents” folder.
Then browse to Eletronic Arts/The Sims 3/Saves/ and delete the save of whatever game you were in when the crash occurred. DO NOT DELETE the backup file. Then rename the Backup file by deleting the “.backup” portion of the filename. All should work now but you will lose everything up to your last save point.

i bought the sim 3 last year. Didnt use it as much. Only a week ago i started to play it again, but when i wanted to click into an new game in an other village, it frooze up and my computer turned off and on itself!! Sims 3 Error Cannot Start the Process while the game is running even though the game is not running. I restart my computer and try again but when I go into the Sims3 Launcher and press play the game says its not responding, I close and try again but then the error message shows up. My computer is easily with in the system requirments for the game and I’ve actually been playing the game all the time since it came out. This error has shown up only after the latest update.
So my sims 3 has been crashing suddenly when i click on create a pool or build a pool. So i am unable to get into that. before i jused to have the problem where your computer just crashes all the time. then i tryed to update my driver. now i have a totaly different problem, i open the sims 3 on my desk top then the sims launcher comes up i then press the play button, the window ( wich is just a black screen) comes up for about 3 seconds and then just vcloses down and nothing happens. i tryed re installing the game . what should i do?? please help.

I have been playing sims 3 and world adventure for a long time since it came out. It played fine until i removed some custom contents and deleted caches now i have blue squares for lots. How can i fix this? I have already tried my backup copy that doesnt help same problem in that. I havent used any patches or updates
Now I’m getting a bit worried. There has been many complaints like the one I have. First of all the Sims3 start up message won’t come up all together. It’s like it is coming in pieces. Just as I think the last little circle with the start button is about to appear, it says that this process cannot happen. Then when I try to press the “x” in the right corner, it just freezes my computer. I also heard that possibly having Sims2 still on your computer would effect it, so I deleted all of those files. It is still doing it. First it was the EA down loader, now it won’t even start!!!

I recently bought The Sims 3. I was excited for so long and even held off on it during a busy week for me, only to end up heartbroken. The game has MAJOR lagging issues. It lags all the times I’ve attempted to play. It also shuts off randomly so I can’t ever even play. I haven’t once. I have only created a family (farthest I’ve gotten until it crashed, again after like an hour customizing) I’ve heard it may be a video/ graphic card thing. May you please give me some advice. I recently had to reinstall Sims 3 after upgrading my computer (about 2 weeks ago). It installed just fine and I’ve had no problems since playing it (no freezes, errors, anything). However I decided to download some CC (custom content) today and when I went in to play it started fine. Then, when I tried to save (after 30 min or so), it gave me an “ERROR 12″ could not save, etc. I exited the game and restarted — it didn’t work. Instead, the game won’t even show up. I’m getting a black screen altogether. WTH!
I cant even get The Sims3 to run. I put the disc in and its like it wont read it, nothing happens. I go to my computer and click on Drive D:/ and it says insert disc, when it is inserted. I dont know what to do, I know its not the game because this is my 3rd copy of the game. Its my computer! Someone please help me! after installing about a hundred or more items from thesimsrecourses.com it crashes when i’m in the buy mode. no errors, no warnings, the game just quits like that and returns to windows. first i thought it was becouse i downloaded to much stuff, so i deleted almost 50% of it. Still no change.

hi i came back off holiday and had problems saving usually i do save as but that wasnt working then my sims got stuck but the bed so i just exited the game. then i install the lastest patch and that made my bas game sims 3 incompatible so i had to uninstall and reinstall. the game loads fine but when i try to load the game i couldnt save properly i get a error message. have to lost this game? can any1 help thanx

my sims was just working yesterday. Now everytime I try to load it, a pop up shows up and say service intialization failed.

The weirdest thing just happened. The game froze after hours of play and unfortunately I saved over the last backup. Then I clicked on edit town and saved again under a different name. When the game re-opened, half the Sim family were frozen and the other went on living. The frozen ones died behind the scene but on the screen remined frozen and intact. HELP! I don’t know if any of you had this problem, but everytime I try to play the game it just says: “ERROR, the installation is incomplete and “the sims 3tm” cannot run. Please reinstall and try again. wel i did reinstall the game but i didnt make any progres with this. it just wont start.
My sims 3 game didn’t always do this, but it has been getting worse. I’ll start playing and everything is fine, the graphics the speed its all perfect, but then about 3 or 4 minutes in, it gets extremely slow, It would take about 2 minutes for the sim to get off their chair. It stays like that for almost ten minutes so I just have to sit there, I barely have any playing time anymore. It does that throughout the whole game, 2 min play, ten min wait, 2 min play, 10 min wait, it’s horrible. Is there a way for it to work fine the whole time I play???

Two of my sims wont react to anymore. They are stuck in their last interaction. When I clicked the action to end it, the cross appeared over it, but they wouldn’t stop. They won’t stop for another action needed, not even when they are desperate for a shower.

Random Crashes –
I was having a LOT of random Crashes with Sims 3 after installing some sim3 packages (from their store) and after installing High-End Loft stuff. I see that there are a lot of people having these problems and I wanted to kinda relay what I did that completely and 100% fixed the problem.
Symptoms: System was crashing 5-10 mins after starting the game (like clockwork!!), saves were hanging, crashing, and/or erroring out with errors 10, 11, 12, and some others that I didn’t keep record of, Sims were hanging, were not performing tasks, standing at beds not moving, couldn’t remove the “Sleep” queue without using the resetsim cheat.
Cause: Sims 3 is a memory hog especially when you add in a bunch of downloads, and the expansion packs. Thats the dumbed down version, the tech cause is, Sims 3 by itself comes drastically close to the 2 GB memory limit that is defined in the sims 3 executable headers. Therefor when a mod is installed or a bunch of downloads, the Sims 3 will reach its maximum memory limit and Windows will close the application or prevent it from occupying more memory (depending on the method in which the game attempts to allocate the memory) This is VERY common on 64 bit machines because they usually have tons of memory, and the Sims 3 doesn’t have to fight with the OS for memory. Under usual circumstances on a 3 GB machine with a 32 bit OS, the memory cap is 4 GB, in such case, that 4GB cap is also caped for Video Memory as well. So those with 512MB or 1GB Video memory are only allowed 3GB of memory on a 32 bit OS, which means that windows will usually occupy 1/3 of that, sims will attempt to occupy the rest, keeping it usually under that cap. But I have a PC with 12 GB of ram (64 bit of course) and 2 GB of video memory, so Sims quickly trys to occupy upwards of 5-6 GB of memory. This causes issues when the header of the executable is telling Windows “Don’t allow me to use more than 2 GB of memory”. So when it happens, you get everything from Freezing Sims, Frozen/stuck Action Queues, Currupt Saves, Crash to Desktop from playing and saving, Save errors, and save hangups (where it sits on the save screen indefinitely).

Download CFF Explorer (free from http://download.cnet.com/CFF-Explorer/3000-2383_4-10431156.html)
Modify the header of the executable for the base game (ts3.exe), High End Loft Stuff, and World of Adventures if you have them by ticking the box that allows it to use more than 2 GB of memory, save the binary, but back up your old one (or your patches won’t work again!!!) and play and enjoy.
Again I was having habitual crashes, investigated the problem with a log viewer and found that it was windows terminating the application because of the memory violations.. Upon closer inspection I found that it was doing this every time it reached 2,049 MB of memory (1mb more than 2gb). After doing this to my pc I haven’t experience one crash in over 3 weeks, all saves have been successful.
Before anyone jumps right in and starts editing exe’s, please make sure of the following:
1. Your PC & Video Card is up to specs
2. You don’t have any problems with other games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, Mass Effect (and ME2), Dragon Age and other Graphically demanding games.
3. Your PC is NOT overheating (try running it with the cover off
4. Your game itself is broken and doing something its not supposed to (try running the FIXALL cheat with CTL+SHIFT-V
Just remember — BACK UP YOUR EXE!

I am having the same problem as Cara (posted a year ago) I was playing just fine, and progressing greatly in game. Today I wake up, and load the game and it just closes after the intro. Like I never loaded it. I’ve tried everything so far, and still nothing. Any progress on this problem after so long? I run Windows 7 X64.
Everytime I try to push play on the Sims 3 game, a box shows up saying,”core_launch_failure” What is the problem?

Ok, i got the Sims 3 World Adventures just 3 days ago and Sims 3 worked fine before i got the World Adventures and it worked fine when i first got it too, but now it’ll load and i can go to load my world and i click it and it load like in a sec and then goes black and says ” A serious error has occurred we recommend restarting this application”!! It’s so annoying i already uninstalled and reinstalled the game. And i’ve had the Sims 3 game since like October so i hope it isn’t my Specs because World Adventures worked just fine when i got it too till now. but here’s what i do know about my specs

so i uploaded the sims 3 and didnt have enough memory to actually play it. so i deleted everything i could find that had to do with the game. i then ended up losing the game and buying a new one once i took my mac to the mac store and opening up enough memory. i uploaded the game and right before i pick the town and it pretty much tells me it cant tell if its a real copy. what do i do?
Came seems to consistently crash if you answer your cell phone while in the Underground Library quest in Egypt. Sim just gets stuck with the phone up to their ear.
In refrence to my comment here I thought that I would add that I have still be operating with 0 crashes, I have even had the game run for 3 days strait with no issues other than bad memory management by the devs (slow and laggy after the 2nd day running) so I can verify that the fix is working on my rig.
I have however come across a new issue in World of Adventures, that is, if for some reason you save a house/structure with WoA items in it (gems, Sim Fu Practice Dummies, Board breaking blocks, snake charming baskets, etc) and buy the house before you visit any world associated with the item(s) that you have in the saved house, your sims are therein restricted from entering the vacation worlds — You can visit, you, but your sims will vanish, leaving you controless over the game and become an observer only. Because I don’t have the source to the Sim’s binaries, there is no way, at my skill level that I can fix this error, so I await for EA to release a patch to address the issue.
Aye i recintly bought the sims 3 and installed it on my laptop but for some reasom my laptop turned of in the middle int he installation now.. when i put my cd back and try to uninstall it.. for some reason its still there’ everytime i try to Reinstall it it keeps saying Erro or please uninstall it.. iv tryed everything and im about to break my laptop please can anyone help me with this stupid issue’ ?

My sister have been playing the sims 3 for a while now, with no issues. Recently she bought
two expansion packs called “Destination adventure” and “design and hi-tech stuff”. The thing
is that when she installed them, it worked perfectly fine, after the computer asking to do two
updates with the sims 3. She accepted the 1st one, but the second one failed. She ignored that and continued playing.
After about one day, the game crashed, an so did the computer. Now the computer show Bsod all the time when booted up,
and there are white stripes all over the screen. It must have something to do with the graphics. The computer’s graphic
card is ATI radeon sapphire Hd 3870.

Edvin, that sounds like your graphics card is now pushing daisies — its dead. Its time to check to see if there is a warranty or start thinking about a replacement. That error you saw pop up was most likely the NVidia’s control panel telling you your GPU was overheating or performing incorrectly. Sadly, when a GPU (graphics card) goes out like that, it is rather quick and messy.
I perform Preventative Maintenance on all of the PC’s in my house about once a week. It consists of opening the cases, powering the pc on, checking that all fans are functioning properly, and blowing out the pc (after powering down) with inert canned air. Doing this once per week or even once every 2 weeks will extend the life of your pc and components by at least a year. I have a pc that still works with all original components (minus upgraded memory, cpu, and hard drives) that I built in 2001

The problem I’m having are the “Error 12 & 13″. They occur during saving. I’ve read up on it, and they say to delete your save and use your backup save but it only works about 2% or less of the time. I save often, but it still does it. Also, it randomly crashes every now and then. According to Canyourunit.com my computer bar is all the way to the top. So I exceed the minimum requirements by plenty. I have Trend Micro Internet Security, and I haven’t known it to interfere with the Sims, but I could be wrong. Any suggestions? hi, i received my sims 3 game like 3 days ago and it worked perfectly the first two days and then on monday it stared to freeze a little bit when i would play it, it didnt think it was much of a problem but then today i tried playing it again and it wont even let me play for 5 minutes before it freezes! help PLEASE!!!!!!

My game does always crash in the ‘create a sim’ part of the game, I can prevent it by rushing trough it en choose an already made sim and immediately clicking to the save family part and than change the hair and clothing in the game.. But i would like to be able to create the faces of the sims myself.. So, does anyone know the solution to this problem?
Sims3 keeps deleting my games, like they never existed! I look in my saved games, and I can’t seem to find a way to get the game to register my saved games. I’m trying to do as little as possible so I don’t make the problem worse. Please help me before I lose my most recent game completely!
I’m not entirely sure if this is a computer issue, or a game issue. I figured i’d post it here anyways.
Alright so here is what’s going on. I’ve had the sims 3 since around christmas time, and it’s worked just beautifully on my computer. No issues with crashing, blacking out, anything. Maybe slight lagging but that was most likely due to my computer having a ton of crap on it. Lol.
About 3 days ago I had to format my computer, and now when I try to play the sims 3 it will either randomly black out during the game, and then go back to normal a few seconds later, or it will black out and then crash completely.
After it’d black out and go back to normal i’d get this error message on my screen (after i’d quit the game) but I don’t remember what it said.
I’m not sure if it has something to do with my video card driver, or what may be going on.
Launcher not starting fix !! I played sims 3 for a few months no issues. Then when I did a fresh reintall The launcher would not play. I right clicked on on the dvd drive under my computer and clicked the run media button launcher and game started right up.
Whenever I load up Sims 3, it seems to play fine, until I try to make them gain skills. The entire tab where the skills should be is blank, and they never get the little blue bars over their heads when I send them to build skills.
What is this? Is anyone else having a problem like this? I’m on a Mac, is this why?

For people having their computer shut down in the middle of the game, I used to have that problem too. It turned out that the computer was overheated, and all I did was to clean out the heat sink. Even a bit of dust can make it overheat, so you can try that if your computer keeps shutting down in game.
i now have a different problem. I’ve been playing the sims 3 fine, except for occasional crashes when saving and after about 2 hours of gameplay. But at least it worked. Now it won’t start at all. After I click play on the launcher a black screen shows up, and after around 5 seconds it disappears and shows only my desktop. The last time I played, the game crashed after saving, but before it crashed the sims were asleep and the squares in the action queue were blue without pictures. the kid sim was supposed to wake up at 7 for school but when he didn’t I tried to cross out the sleep action. it didn’t work, and the kid kept on sleeping and missed the bus. after that the game crashed, and i’ve been having the black screen problem ever since.
If anyone has a solution for this please let me know. Thanks.
Yesterday, i tried download Inteen3, (stupid idea!) and now when i Start the game, it gets to the First loading screen, then It crashes there every time! So i decided to uninstall the game, completly and delete every CC on my laptop, then i Installed it again, and only got the stuff from the previous game, but only from the Sims 3 website. I didn’t install any other mods, just the CC from The Sims 3 website. It still crashes! SO i got rid of all the CC and nothing is helping. How do i make it work again!?

My sim is freezing up every couple minutes, she will just stop moving and stand there for a while and then unfreeze. Also while shes sleeping she will sit up with her arm bent like shes holding a baby, and then lay back down again. She does this every couple minutes. hi, i have a little problem that just started out of nowhere.
i decided to create a homeless sim all of a sudden, to follow the homeless challenge. however, when i clicked on “new game”, the neighborhood was completely red and black. i thought it had something to do with the lighting, so i just went with it. i created the sim – the icons took ages to load.. it never did that before. when i went to move the sim into an empty lot, everything was black with red details — the sim was entirely black, with only the glasses being red (that wasn’t the color i made the glasses at all…). the grass was red and all the houses and neighbourhood were either completely black or red…
i deleted the save file, closed the game, cleared every cache file i know of (5 of them), reopened the game to play my old save file and it seemed fine….. until i zoomed out.
now the only thing that looks normal is inside the house and the sims themselves. everything around the house – inside and outside the lot, but outside the house, is black (with very tiny red details), as if the house was floating in outerspace.
i’m on windows seven, playing the base game only… i haven’t gotten around to buying (or downloading) the expansion pack yet.
if someone could help me with this, i would really appreciate it…… i’m stuck with playing spore for the zillionth time!

This is driving me nuts!!! Every five minutes my game will just shut off, it happens when I try to save, when I look around, when I select a sim, all the time!!! I have a brand new asus gaming laptop with the ati radeonhd5870 graphics card. I downloaded a driver, turned off my trend micro and am not playing in full screen mode. Still, every FIVE minutes or so to have a game just stop working is ridiculous. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why every time i try to download this family i played for along time it says something. Like a error message or something every time i try to play that family. But the other family’s work fine but the one i play with doesnt. Why is that??? Please help!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!! I miss my family
while i’m playing, the screen will slowly flash twice and then when it finally comes back on.. the screen is darker than normal. so i restart the game. and it comes back on fine and after a few minutes, it does the same thing over again. what’s wrong with it? how do i fix this?
My game didnt even install. It installed all the way up to ‘Do you want to install EA Download Manager?’ When I clicked yes, the computer froze for 30 mins then shut down. Now it won’t let me uninstall the game, or do anything else except run through the uninstall manager, and say ‘The game has sucessfully unisntalled’ – even though it hadnt. I’ve spent ages trying to fix this – unsucessfully.
If your game keeps crashing all you have to do is just update your drivers then everything should be ok. But if dont have the neccessary graphic cards that shouldnt cause it to crash just make the graphics not look to hot.
ive been playing forever and its been working fine, then i installed an update and all of the sudden it wont let me launch the game it says “there was an error during setup, please see log for details”

I’m having trouble with my Sims3 game. It’s much like problem 4 and 6. My specs are Windows Vista Home Premium, AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-75 3.00 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce8200M G. I’ve had the game since last July and a black screen comes up like mentioned in many of the posts above. Any tips? I did notice that my laptop gets really hot as if the fan isn’t working, but I hear it running. I’ve elevated the laptop and it seems to be working. Any tips? I really want to play my game.

Sims 3 on town map no names of places, or friends homes appear. unable to move or identify a place to meet a friend at in town. Works one time then next time does not work. uninstalled and reinstalled did not fix. Restarted computer, did not fix.

When I click PLAY it says: “no disc found! please insert the sims3 game disc before proceeding” I think it has something to do with the CRACk/TS3. but when I checked, it already has one. Then I clicked it, then the game started loading but then in the middle of the loading it says “no disc found! please insert the sims3 game disc before proceeding” again. It already has TS3 on the BIN folder, So why does it still ask the same thing. What should I do? help please. Tnx.

i have never had any problems w/ts3 before this morning D: i have a laptop that isn’t even two months old, with all the protection stuff. i have a family that is very special to me in a downloaded town (i was already really far into playing them.) i shut down, etc the computer at 3 after playing ts3.
now, at 7:30, the town has no picture. when i click it the bar loads really fast and gets all inverted and says “A serious error has occured while loading ‘Cornucopia.sims3′ (the name of the downloaded town AND my game). It is strongly recomended that you restart the game.”
i would be very upset if this town/family was gone (the ones in the bin won’t work for what i’ve been doing).
Does somebody know how to fix this??? PLEASE.

I had no difficulties in installing sims 3. It can be started easily and run fastly. no lag and everything. I can create sim without any distraction. However , when I was going to follow the tutorial to buy sofa, when I clicked the sofa to where I wanted to place at, it suddenly crashed to desktop. I have tried many times, uninstall and reinstalled that game, updated my graphic card driver to the latest one, disable temporarily my AVIRA antivirus and it STILL LED TO NOTHING, no difference.

I just reinstalled my game today. I updated to the newest patch, 1.12, and I reinstalled my custom content. It said the game mods I had were not up to date with the newest version, but it said the same thing before I reinstalled and i was running 1.12.7 fine with them, so I continued and the game crashed either a few seconds in, or the other times I tried it lasted till I selected Sunset Valley as my new town. I tried taking out all of my custom content, even everything in Sims3Pack form, and it still says that I have mods that are not up to date, and no matter what I do it crashes before I even get into a town. I know my computer can run the game fine, just last night I was playing with one of my families in the game. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this and how do to fix it?

I just love the Sims game but like so many others, my game crashes 5 times a day. Norton’s has been fantastic but we are still trying to find out if they really are a problem. In the meantime, I save my game every Sim night. Sometimes inbetween as well. I also make sure that I “Save As” under a different name every now and again so that I if I have a problem, it is not too far back.
This must be building up somewhere. Can someone tell me how to delete or clean up all these “saves”?
i installed my sims 3 game, and it loads really slowly, but then once i get to create a sim, it works fine, but then when i’m done making my sims and i want to play with them, it is really slow… it took 15 just for my sim to take a step!
I have always had problems with the sims 3 from the start. Thing like it not saving and freezing. But yesterday I downlaoded the world creator from the official sims 3 websit because everyone had been talking about it and I wanted to try it out my self. It was downloading fine while I was looking in the sims 3 store, but then the computer just went blank. A few seconds later it started to turn on. I was a bit confused so left it expecting it to log onto my setting and start from where it turned off. But it didn’t. It came up with a black screen with writing on it that comes up now whenever I try to turn my laptop on again. It says that I can start the computer up normally. Or run a virus check. When I tried to load it up normally it just came up with the same screen with writing on again and when I try to do the virus check it just keeps freezing even when I leave it for hours on about 10 %. I can’t get past the screen with writing on at all to even get onto my setting on my laptop. It might just be my laptop that has done this but I think it is the sims 3 that has done this because I have always had problems with it and I was downloading the world creator for it when my laptop just turned off.

hi, um on the sims 3 the computer thinks i’m still moving even though my sim had moved ages ago so it won’t let me go on build/buy mode or move again. Also, all the other sims won’t let me into thier houses. what do i do??
Random crashing, drivers are all up to date, no pattern whatsoever to crashing. Have tried rebooting, turned off everything in AVG that it would let me turn off without uninstalling it, killed Windows Defender, Spybot S&D, etc. Tried everything in #4 above.
My best guess is that it hates my AMD chip. I noticed on the System Req’s page, all of the chips listed are given as Intels. I don’t have Intel, and it’s a laptop, so heck if I’m changing hardware.

umm. i have a different problem and i dont know if this has to do with my computer or my game, but i start up sims 3 and after 30 seconds to 5 minutes after starting it up, it pulls up this blue screen that says something about a “crash dump” or sumthin. ive posted this problem on so many places and still have had no results. also i uninstalled all of my computer protection systems (which was just Nortin and AVG) and im still having this problem. another thing: i also hav checked my card data or whatever that you also suggested and guess? still doing it. just a note i do have custom content installed that im going to go through and get rid of. ill update if anything happens…

i installed CAW and it wasn’t patched. it said to patch it with the launcher so when i opened it it asked me to patch the game so i did but now it says “Your sims 3 base game is incompatible with the current sims 3 expansion pack. Please update your game via the launcher.” but the launcher won’t fully load, it just stays blank and the spinny thing on the mouse won’t stop.

I just downloaded a few mods today and all of a sudden I have NO option to interact with sims, including the active sims. I can have my active sims click on lots and such, and they’ll interact with other sims by themselves but that just won’t do. Help, please?
I reinstalled my Sims 3 today, and after I moved in a family (because of the tutorial) the loading screen appears. When it stops, the game suddenly crashes? I have a good display driver. I don’t know whether the video card is attributed to the display driver or not, can you help? I have 1GB of RAM (Only meets the minimum requirements.)
I’ve downloaded sims from the sims game exchange and most of them work. However, the one I really want to play with, ends the game every time I try to use it. I go to Create A Sim, pick one from the pre-made sims, click accept, and the game closes itself. Is there a fix to this? Should I try to re-download the sim?

I have a fresh install of the game. Never even got to play the game cause the game crashes while loading a town. It goes to about 10-20% and then it just crashes back to desktop. I have tried windowed mode, updated my nVidia 9800GT driver to the latest, disabled Kapersky, added the .exe files to the DEP exclusion list… I installed everything to Ambitions except High End Loft Stuff. My game has recently been weirding out on me. I got it to work just fine last night, but previous to that, it does the same thing it does now.
I click on the shortcut on my desktop, and the play screen pops up, but after i click a button (any button on that screen), it freezes and proceeds to not responding. If I click on the actual play button, it goes to black screen and then proceeds to not responding, and I then have to go to my task manager and close the program that way.
I even bought a new expansion pack to help the issue, but it did nothing to fix it.
Please help! I’ve been itching to play my sims game, and i can’t! Help is much appreciated

I brought the sims 3 the other month, it worked fine, very fast and my laptop had no problems with it. Hi, I’m having a problem with my Sims 3 game. I’m running Windows 7 64bit, I have and ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series graphics card, and my game still won’t work. I’ve had The Sims 3 since it was released last year, and it has worked fine on my ACER Aspire 9300. I know my computer is a bit old, bit it’s took The Sims 3 quite well, as I use a Nvidia GeForce Go 6100. What I don’t get is, after all this time, suddenly it decides to crash about 5-10mins into the game. The graphics are normally on med-low, and I always make sure my laptop has enough space to hold The Sims 3. Yet, it’s just becoming stupid. I don’t even download any custom content just to make sure it’s clean. I’ve re-installed and what not. Still nothing.

Okay, so my game was working fine untill I bought and downloaded sims 3 ambitions a few days ago, now both my games are saying that they have to connect to the internet inorder to verify ownership. I`m using the same computer right now, so i`m obviously on the internet, but the launch screen is also coming up as `cant find page`kinda thing.
I have proof of ownership through e-mail and Credit statment, but the Ea site itself is not showing that I bought anything…… but I dont know if thats connected or not.

I have the tmobile galaxy with sims 3 already on the phone. After playing it a couple of days I am getting an error message and the game crashes and now I am unable to play it at all unless i start a new sim but eventually it crashes too and won’t let me play that sim. My husband also got the galaxy and is getting the same error message and it crashes but he is able to restart the game. The error message is : Error (airplay v4.1.3 (24299)). heap 2 out of memory. Allocating 2816 bytes but only 272 available (220LFB). Increase icf setting (s3e) memsize2 (current value 5000000) .

Man does Sims 3 have a lot of issues..
On my laptop, one of my sims had twins, but when she left the hospital, the babies came out as long, tan tubes. Their little character pictures show up with nobody in them. Is that just a glitch or something?- because on that same computer, anytime I enter Create-A-Sim mode, after a couple seconds-a minute,the screen blacks out and I can do nothing but turn off my computer.
On my pc, after several unsucessful attempts to install the game, it installed, and when I turned it on and started creating my sim, it’d be fine until I reached the hair tab, and so on. After several times of restarting sims continuiously, my Sims 3 game will freeze when I click on any tab in the create-a-sim mode, other then the tab where you customize the name, skin tone, and all of that. And, I just earlier tried to move some premade sims into a house, and the whole thing just shut down.
Any adivce? The live support team wasn’t very helpful, and I can’t contact them anymore since it keeps saying the username I’m logged into the site with is invalid…

What a damn thing that was … just got an easy fix … its the registry keys corruption in the windows causing the sims 3 launcher error. Run Reginout registry scan to fix this issue at ease…….

I have installed and updated the game to the most resent update, i have the newest ati drivers, and all of my other drivers are up to date but loading the game and loading a saved game i have no problems but when i run the game in live mode and the Sim goes to do its command the game crashes to the desktop with no error message or warnings. ITS THE SOFTWARE!!!!, ITS THE SIMS 3 GAME DISC ITSELF!!!! this disc is screwing a lot of peoples computers/drivers up. initially the Sims 3 game disc is causing all of or some of the problems (or so at least with the disc authentication failure issue). So everybody contact EA and harass the hell out of them until they fix this problem. i promise EA is not at all as prestigious as you may think, they pump out a lot of shoddy software.

I was playing with all expansions no problem but after downloading a couple of items off the exchange and a few store items ,I got the 0x6224dd27 error. I search the site and others said ,get rid of all custom content ,clean all of Eadm for machine then start over. So I did ,I uninstalled everything ,removed all cc and and even ran a cc cleaner for the etine drive ans registry. then I installed Sim 3 w/o the patches to check the game alone and discovered missing lelements,,It loads beautifully w no errors and the maplooks fine but when it gets to the play mode ,I can see no sims on lot choices and no lots available on the map .The section for choosing a lot w sims is not here.
I have repeated uninstalled ,cleaned ,ran system scans, registry scans ,everything and tried multiple times to install and the same scenario occurs,There was one other thing ,in my research to find an answer ,I saw it said to delete EF7E931D-DC84-471B-8B6-A83358095474 from the Instal Wizard file in programs..I never found it there ,nor any where else and my “hidden files” were open at least supposed to be. I tried to do a chat w a tech..and got the dumbest person..I ask for a supervisor and the session was basically closed w the plan to refer it to others and I would hear via email.. that hasn’t worked well ..I am at a complted loss. I have quite an ivestment and no play. FYI. I have been playing sims since sim city , and still have Sim 4 deluxe running on my xp machine and did have all the sims2 w expansions running ,This is really a puzzler for me .I’m at a complee loss. I thing when I did my first clean-up a setting must have been altered or something but I haven’t a clus what it would be. I wondered about the UAC.Dk
Whenever I am playing Sims 3 for 5 minutes it flashes black (screen) like 5 times then my computer crashes…can you help me?
In my sims 3 i have one file off an family and another file off an family when i was playing my second family on sims 3 i saved then it said you have a problem in error code 16 i don’t know what that means and i cant save it why is that?

My sims 3 runs normally – it starts then I can play in live mode and go into build mode, but when I enter buy mode and try to put a lamp somewhere the game crashes. It only happens when buying a lamp.

I play sims 3 and I built my favorite house and I finally made it perfect. However, everytime I load my game, it does not show the bottom stuff. It doesn’t show my people or options or anything. It’s just the town, and it will not let me click on anything. It really pisses me off.
Also, In another game on the sims 3, one of my people are missing. I have no idea how to fix that. It won’t let me click on them or anything. It doesn’t even have him when I try to switch to another sim.
Hello everyone. I installed The Sims 3 and the expansions: Ambitions, World Adventure and Loft Stuff. I launch the game with no problem, and I can create sims with no problem too. But as soon as I buy a house or I choose a pre-existent family the sims just shut down to the desktop with no error messages.
I tried 4th problem’s solution but it didn’t worked (my pc can surely run the game, infact i played for a few months last summer.)
I hope someone can help me!
I’m playing the sims 3 on my laptop,but after a while it crashes to bluescreen,and it restarts my system.At the beggining only after an hour or longer,but now it happens after 5min.I just played it for like 2 days,I was so excited about the game,now I’m so unhappy.Please help me!I’m running it on Vista, Processor Intel 1.73GHz,2GB
