Posting solutions (working or speculated ones) for Street Fighter 4 on the comment box would be more than welcome. List will be updated as new problems and solutions become known.
The first thing you have to check of course, is if you’re system meets the minimun requirements to run this game.

Problem 1:My game won’t start at all!!
Answer: Good chance that it’s a compatibility issue with your video card, run a benchmark test on it first to see if it’ll be up to snuff.
Problem 2.1: I want to play two player versus mode but only have a keyboard for an input device, is there any way I can reconfigure the keyboard mapping so that two players can play?
Answer: No, sadly CAPCOM didn’t implement a system so that two players can play on one keyboard. And even if they did, they keystroke limit on keyboards (4 AFAIK) would be a huge hindrance to players. They simply won’t be able to play properly.
Problem 2.2: But I have X-arcade, Slikstik, and custom I-PAC and other keyboard programmable units!
Answer: No.
Problem 3.1: any time a match tries to load, it just hangs my computer. If I’m running full screen i get a rainbow of colored squares across my monitor, and have to break out and end the task.
Answer: Be sure to update your drivers to the latest.
Problem 3.2: Same with 3.1 but running on Dual monitors and Video cards on SLI.
Answer: The game wasn’t designed for dual monitors, turning off SLI would fix this particular problem.
Problem 4: Pre-ordered/Bought the game on Steam, and it won’t launch! says files are still encrypted.
Answer: Users have reported that restarting Steam would fix this. The files would start decrypting after you restart, you we’re just too excited! 
Problem 5: My controller doesn’t work!
Answer: look and download the latest drivers for that controller, There is also a chance that the controller is not supported, at all.
Problem 6: I can’t use the windows live account to get the achievements/Online mode!
Answer: Is your copy legit? Did you buy it from a trusted retailer? If now, it’s probably a pirated download. Sadly, you can’t use online features on the bootleg copy.
Problem 7: On DRM, what sort of DRM do they use? is there an activation limit?
Answer: Nope, there are no limits to how many times you activate the game. Although you still need the game disk itself to be able to play the game and a Microsoft live account to play online.
Bonus Question: I hate the commentator guy! is there any way to mute him?
Answer: There has been no way to mute him without muting the other sound effects as well.
Bonus Question: Will you provide a torrent link for the ‘free’ version?
Answer: No, not that hard to do a google search though.

Fits the min requirements, just that at default 1280 res it’s chugging at 20fps and I can’t change any of the options! Will going in to Full screen help? At the moment it is stuck in window mode.

I’m having sound problems. First I installed the game and it worked fine,after a while the sound just vanished. I re installed the game,changed graphics drivers,sound drivers,changed the sound format,I even changed my OS to windows 7 7264 from vista ULT SP2(both 64 bit) and STILL no sound… please help!

I’m having problems with the game after changing it to full screen. I opened it and everything was normal because the game started windowed. After the intro, I went to options and changed it to full screen and now I can’t get into the game anymore! Every time I try to enter, the game minimizes itself and when I click on it, nothing happens!
Is it possible to change it back to window without entering the game? Is there any solution so that I can play it full screen?
I’m on a Windows 7 64 bits, Core i7 920 6GB RAM DDR3 Tri channel, NVIDIA Geforce GTX285 1GB.

Hi, I’m having trouble mapping my keyboard buttons. For some reason Street Fighter 4 doesn’t accept the home and delete buttons as keys. As a keyboard player, I’m really used to this setup and would like to find a way around it, please help.
My configuration….
up = w
down = s
left = a
right = d
low punch = insert
medium punch = home * (not mapping)
hard punch = page up
low kick = delete
medium kick = end * (not mapping)
hard kick = page down

the game wont star but it says failed to create direct x 3d device
Same problem as post number 4 from Walter, the game crashes randomly after playing a while. Sometimes I can play for hours before it crashes, sometimes only for a couple of minutes.

My system is usually very stable, no problems with other games or anything, no errors in the hardware list, everything is as it’s supposed to be.
Same as 8… Happens only on Live though, it crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to change from a game lobby to the menu… freeze, and need to reboot comp to close the game ;/
No new driver fixes it.
My SF4 won’t even start. Not even loads the statup screen. The mouse icon chnaged to the normal window busy icon for a while, and then nothing happened.

I have some problems with all vidéos :
If I let the opening starts, the game crashes.
If I want to watch some vids in the showroom ( oepnings endings, special)
If I wants to starts a game in arcade mode.
I can read those videos with windows media player.
I’ve got a friend trying to get the game running so I’m helping him out by sussing out solutions. He got the game via steam, it opens but the game runs in a black screen, he has sound and can toggle selections etc. He’s got directx10, but is running the game on a laptop with an ATi Mobility Radeon x300. any suggestions?
When i start up my street fihter the video show everything but when its gose to the main menu it just turns blank soo if any1 that can help me ill give them a free steam account with games and its not vac ban i sware
Same with Gregory. Constant crashing when I am switching from online lobby to main menu, pressing “Y” to check a player’s Live profile, and before the online battle starts.

i updated to windows vista sp 1 and SF IV stopped working. i get this black screen then it crashes to the desktop after a second. more like it just flickers the screen to black then boom back to desktop

I love this game but every time the stage Historic Distillery comes next the screen won’t change. It does not hang exactly as the sound and the animation of the players screen moves but I wait forever and can’t continue playing. The same in the benchmark. It’s always Historic Distillery.
if u cant start the game then u need to google this and download…then paste it in ur street fighter folder…”D3DX9_41.dll”…hope this help…it works for me..use the launcher to start the game… enjoy.. XD
hello there, I bought the game via Steam, after I install it I can play normally but after a few game restarts during the day the game stops working and I have to re-install it.
By deleting the ClientRegistry.blob I was able to play the game some times, but now the only way to make it working is by re-installing it.
If I restart my steam client or reboot my PC I can see the “launcher” from SFIV, but when I click to launch nothing happens… you have any idea what might be happening?

My problem is a bit of a stupid one, but basically whenever I try to start the game, it crashes.
and not to mention, if i try to run it off the disc, it acts as if I never installed it. it trys to install it again. A little window also comes up saying “street fighter IV is already installed. do you want to uninstall it?”
Maybe something went wrong with the install?

Nobody is answering any of the quaestions here, You have to Install lastest DIRECTX from Microsoft in order to play the game, go to google, type directx and download the last ones from microsoft website, The only problem is, GAME DOES NOT PLAY IN FULLSCREEN MODE, you start the game windowed and if you go to oPTIONS AND try to change to full screen, game crashes.. Is there a way of changing a CFG file or something to make the game start in fullscreen or what should we do? anyone knows?

Hi, i installed SF4 in my com but when i click SF4Launcher.exe, nothing happen. Then i tried StreetFighterIV.exe, also nothing happen. Therefore i couldn’t enter game.

My problem is different.. I just can’t watch the opening and ending videos. When I finish the game it just says “Thank You For Playing”.

PROBLEM:
SF4Launcher.exe gives “STREET FIGHTER IV LAUNCHER has stopped working”
Things I have tried so far:
9.8 Catalyst driver only install
DX March 2009 redist download & update
US Language and region ID: 1033
GFW Live reinstall, created fresh US ID, logged in
Used shortcut including “…” -dx9 to force DirectX 9
Selecting “Run as Administrator”
The pattern of errors I’m seeing online, a lot of cracked versions complaining of similar problems, the fact that the benchmark works fine and the total lack of a helpful error message leads me to suspect that this is a DRM issue.
Trying a crack now – thanks CAPCOM.
Crack didn’t work – probably a D2D incompatability, but it fails much faster with the same exception code, increasing my suspicion that this is DRM related.

Hi guys. Those 3 errors at the top are the ones I encountered since I bought SFIV during the weekend deal. I use F-Secure Internet Security suit 2010, and that’s where the problems start.
I clicked and tested and changed settings until I figured out what was causing this and here’s what I’ve found out so far:
1) Error Code 51: F-Secure has a scanner in it which is called “Deep Guard”. Deep Guard has another setting: “activate extended program control”. You have to deactivate the last one in order to start SFIV. I’m quite sure other anti-virus programs have similar settings which one might need to check.
2) Cannot create access mutex: I have no idea what that means, but you get this after error code 51 and by trying to double-click the streetfighter exe in your steam/game directory. Following the steps in 1 resolves this also.
3) Login procedure to Windows live fails – the “Windows Live-ID Service is unavailable”: For me f-secure was the guilty one again. Now you have to deactivate the realtime virus scan during the start of SFIV. Once you have successfully logged in to your xLive account you have to turn it on again. Otherwise you will rip a huge security hole in your system.

TO champnumber1 or post 53….LOOK at the system requirements you have to have ATI x1900 or higher…you have x1200..that cant even play doom 3 smoothly
Good News, I was able to change the screen resolution, FrameRate, Aspect ratio etc., in a Config doc file using Notepad and now the game runs at 60 fps.
To locate the Config file, you have to enable “show hidden files and folders”
because the AppData folder might be hidden. C://user/your user name/AppData/Local/CAPCOM/STREETFIGHTERIV/
If you have problem locating the Config file, you can search config using the search function, make sure Search Hidden Files and Folders is selected under More Advanced Option. After the search is done, locate the Config file (there might be many Config files depending on your computer) and make sure the Config File you selected or highlighted is in Capcom/STREETFIGHTERIV folder.

My game doesn’t show up, the box comes up and I click launch then nothing happens. IT USED TO WORK, but all of a sudden it just stopped, I reinstalled it and still the same problem.
Yeah I’ve got an issue… in challenge mode. I got up to stage 9 on the normal time trial and i was versing rose as a result. Then the game just hung on the vs screen… it wouldn’t let me fight her. This also happened vs rose as th first opponent of one of the normal survival challenges… so Rose seems to have issues with fighting… any ideas?

1) install microsoft applocale
2) install it and click launch a program, choose sf4 lancher
3) when choosing language, choose turkce

Hey i have a problem i dont know if its been solved or not, but i get a black screen when i try to play SF4. when i click it on, it shows the logos then goes into the intro and after that goes off i see street fighter IV in the top right cornner and just a black screen but i hear sound , i dont see anything. im on a Windows XP Media Center, i just went and got 1 gig of memory..so i have pleanty memory..i have the requirements..I went to my mothers laptop and put it on there and it worked fine, but it was slow..she had a Vista 1 gig of mem also. please help what am i missing.

i have the same black screen problem. if you keep pressing start you can get to the menu but after selecting a character itll turn black again. this needs fixed or i need a refund. i had the game working just fine up until a week ago. i can’t account for what is doing this but im guessing a conflict with some new update to windows or some shit. so it’s not you. ive tried just about everything. if i figure something out ill post back. im reinstalling sf4 and i installed ie 8 (bleagh) just to make sure im up to date on everything.

I am having problems getting this game to run on my Vista 64
I was able to install the game but when i try running it i keep getting an error saying this software is not compatible with my current operating system (Vista Ultimate 64 Bit)
I even tried changing the compatibility mode under the file’s properties and still same error message. Anyone know how to get past this please please please?
If the game crashes when changing settings from ingame menu. you can change them by hand :
first go to control panel – click classic view – folder options -view tab
find “hidden files and folders”
and click on “Show hidden files and folders”
apply
then go to your username folder – Appdata – Local – CAPCOM – STREETFIGHTERIV – config
you can change you screen settings, frame rate …
tips:
SET THE FAME RATE TO “FIXED” AND THE GAME WILL RUN GREAT.

60 seconds or so into any match the game starts getting glitchy beyond playability. The game finally caves to “Fatal error: Out of memory.”
My system requirements are above the standards and i played the game on my pc for several hours just yesterday without problems only to find this problem I can’t get rid of today.

Hey Puneet, when does it crash? I was having issues with win7 as well when trying to switch to FULLSCREEN or the antialiasing. The display resolution setting seems to not be modifyable, so I went to the config file and modified the resolution and the FULLSCREEN setting. The config file is a config.ini located in the application data/Local/CAPCOM/STREETFIGHTER/ in your user directory.

I’ve took the advice given here and d/l the benchmark app, and it works. Looks like its not a compatibility issue for me. sigh, I’m having soooo much trouble to get this thing working.. HELP!!!

WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM

The Benchmark Tool works fine so the system it’s ok, but if I enter the game and press start it just freezes. I can enter in the pc settings and I tried to put all options on low but it won’t do a thing. what can I do?

I have a problem with street fighter 4 game don’t have a duel mode it have:
1 start benchmark
2 ps stettings
3 loop mode
4 quit
Same prblm “problem with creating directx 3D” What to do ? my pc have 1 gb ram 100 Gb free HD, directx 9.0c and all which is mi. req. but still not abel to open
an “un handled fatal error occured at (-1)” or something like that is the message i keep getting when i try playing sf4. any solutions please?
am open the game put can’t play it crashed and say (Runtime error R6002 floating point support not loaded) plz help me to solve this error
