.time about it’s Hell

Now that everyone’s settled down and the reality that we wont be having Starcraft 2 this year sinked in. Let’s turn the clock 12 years back. December 1997, Blizzard posted an announcement similar to what Cydra posted… well, a bit too similar though:

Starcraft Release Update Blizzard Entertainment (Blizzard) Tue Dec 9 17:49 PM |
As many of you know, we have been working day and night to get Starcraft into your hands by this Christmas. This has included 30 hour shifts, sleeping on our office floors, and living on stale pizza. The progress on Starcraft has been phenomenal, and it is looking like all of our efforts are going to be well worth it. Unfortunately, it has become clear to us that in order to bring you the best game possible, we are not going to be able to release the game before the end of January. In case you don't remember, the original 1996 debut of Starcraft looked something like this: http://www.blizzard.com/star/bigpix/oldsc.htm We just had a world premiere at the Wizards of the Coast Game Center and you can see how far it has come: http://www.blizzard.com/star/bigpix/scnow.htm The reaction of everyone there was very positive, but we don't want to release Starcraft until it becomes the classic that we know it can be. With this extra time we will be, among other things, refining the play balance of the game, and honing the computer AI. We read our e-mail, we watch the forums and newsgroups, and we know that you want this game to come out NOW. We also want to get the game into your hands as soon as possible, but we want to make sure that Starcraft is everything you expect from Blizzard. Starcraft is a project that has been two years in the making. It would be an injustice to you and the development team to ship the game before it is truly ready. Thank you for your continued support and interest in Starcraft. We are dedicated to creating the best games in the world for the world's best gamers. The Starcraft Team
Something caught my eye in this announcement, particularly this part
but we don't want
to release Starcraft until it becomes the classic
that we know it can be
Just goes to show that Blizzard has been in the business of perfecting their games even before the original Starcraft came out and that Starcraft being an esport and being the official sport of a whole country is not a mere coincidence. If you compare this ancient announcement from Blizzard for Starcraft with that of Starcraft 2’s (see here), it’s actually almost similar but in SC2’s case, Battle.net 2.0 is being perfected. Future Blizzard titles will be heavily depended upon Battle.net 2.0’s features so they have to make it more expandable and scalable and with Blizzard’s ‘futuresight’, this wont be a problem.

Honestly, i think this is a good thing, I’m sick of games that are ruined because the people who create them think there balanced,
Take call of duty 5 for example, they think the “Mp40″ is balanced when its the most overused does the SAME damage as the 40cal, Thompson, the game sucks,
Blizzard is a godlike company, they Perfect there games, they make sure the GAME We buy is the GAME WE want, which is exactly what gets me more excited about this game! A lot of games have hacks in them the first week, i can see this game not having a hack for months.
Can’t wait!
you obviously havn’t played wow. Nobody supports blizzard, after wow
ds: Nobody supports Blizzard after WoW? Hahaha, get real man.
There are still A LOT of people who play WoW and do you know how OLD that game is now? Yeah, exactly, I don’t think I need to tell you.
