TO SAM , I’ve found a way to play correctly , I play in windowed mode. And no, I don’t have mouse trail. My problem was when I don’t touch the mouse my cursor desapear completly. When I move the cursor, it blink all the time , but since I’m in window mode, this work great but I don’t see the experience bar at the bottom of the screen. But I don’t care much about that.

  12. Fred — October 30, 2009 @ 10:23 pm

It says Prior installation detected. I followed the messages here and removed it from control pannel.

My system crashed during the installation, so I was unable to properly install it. And when I went to remove it, it said no file detected remove torchlight from the list? I clicked accept.

I don’t know where the registry cleanup thing is.

Any help would be very very appreciated!

Torchlight crashes quite often for me, with a message that windows visual c++ could not debug, there’s no error code or other kind kind of additional information.

I’m on winXP pro, Intel M 2.13GHz, 1k RAM, ATI mobility fireGL V3200.

I’d be really glad if you could be able to help me.

I have the same error as Aaron! where is the fix guide???

  15. Matt — November 2, 2009 @ 2:54 pm

The graphics are all screwed up and pixilated. It’s not my video card as it runs other games without issue. It makes the game nearly unplayable, unfortunately. Anytime I open a skill window or vendor window the graphics explode making it nearly impossible to read anything.

  16. Kevin — November 2, 2009 @ 9:13 pm

I have no sound in torchlight. I don’t see an acceleration bar as mentioned above. I’m using Realtek 2.35 HDMI sound drivers and this works with every other game.

I cannot save the game. Has anyone found a sol’n/made a patch for this bug/problem? Thanks! Game is gorgeous on my junky PC even!

  18. greenie — November 3, 2009 @ 5:47 pm

Microsoft Visual C++.. same as Aaron. Happens in dungeons and sometimes the more complex part of spells such as the animation of the spell going towards the enemy dissapears 5-15 seconds before the crash occurs.

  19. Robert — November 4, 2009 @ 3:00 am

    Hi,

I experienced blue screen death after some minutes of playing in a dungeon which was opened by a map that I bought at a vendor in the first town.

    What is the problem?

  20. Vince — November 4, 2009 @ 8:40 am

    Cheers,

  22. Nick — November 5, 2009 @ 4:54 am

I purchased this game just recently and the failed game creation error i cannot fix… I do not know why but nothing i do will fix this problem. Im running this game on an alienware m17x with windows 7, 64bit… probably why.

  23. Anton Kryzsko — November 5, 2009 @ 2:30 pm

Steam version is working fine and then freezes. You can not exit out, and have to kill the computer. CTL Alt Del will not even exit out. I am running Windows 7 64 bit version if that helps.

  24. Anonymous — November 7, 2009 @ 3:08 am

Game freezes, sound still playing but video gone. Locks computer up completely (no CTL-Alt-Del). Have had this happen 4 times in 3 hours. Running XP Pro, newer machine/graphics card. Playing in windowed mode.

  25. Anonymous — November 8, 2009 @ 10:09 am

same problem as #24. running winxp too, directx and newest video driver installed. screen gets black and monitor says “no signal”. other games no problem (so i think its not a heat problem)

  26. dirty — November 8, 2009 @ 5:16 pm

I’m not having any problem’s with this game as i am running win 7 64bit amd 3.4ghz processor 9800gtx x2 with an asus mobo 4 gig’s of ram and a 500gig hardrive the only thing i can say is that i bought 2 box’s of this game and gave my brother a copy and he is having one hell of a time installing this on his pc he meet’s the system spec’s he’s way over the system spec’s we both are running the same machine but with win xp home edition. REGARDING HOW TO FIX #6

Ok, so I downloaded the game, was having a great time playing the demo when the game crashed on me. After that when I tried to restart it, I was having the same Torchlight Executable file has stopped working error. After spending pretty much all day yesterday browsing online and finding pretty much no answer to this specific problem, I was a bit frustrated, but I have found the solution, at least for me and my computer.

    I had tried these things

I couldn’t get it to work in safe more or get it to run as administrator.

I also had avast AV, I uninstalled it completely, still no go.

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, still no go.

Here is what I did to get it to work.

Do a complete uninstall, then go into your advanced search and search for runic make sure to include the hidden files and folders, delete anything that shows up, then search for torchlight and delete anything that shows up. (don’t delete your install file, unless you think it might be corrupt)

Then go into regedit and search individually for runic and torchlight and delete anything that shows up, I believe there was like 5 files in total only 4 of which I could delete.

Then restart your computer and then install torchlight.

This worked for me, and I am now able to play.

In case you are wondering about my computer specs, I am running a stock ASUS CG5270 computer witch 8gb ram, intel c2quad 2.5gh, gt 220 video card.wolfpunk

I’m on Windows7 and I had the problem #7, runtime error when launching Torchlight.

I think this bug appears cause Torchlight seems to always install his version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 without checking our; or you can already have a better version on your PC…

My solution is to uninstall Torchlight’s Visual C++. In windows control pannel uninstall program that is named :
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008, which version is 9.02*2** something.
Restart your computer, try to launch your game and enjoy.

If not working, go on microsoft website and download the last version of Microsoft Visual C++ then install it, restart your computer and play.
It should work without the runtime error at launch like for me.

have fun with this great, but short, game :)

My game crashed immediately after fishing at the beginning of the game. I simply cannot play. FYI I have everything set to max and I am playing an archer with a CAT for a pet.

  33. Anonymous — November 15, 2009 @ 1:36 pm

The game runs fine, but there is no sound. I am running it on windows 7, so the solution here doesn’t apply.

    “The procedure entry point
?setAllowMultiGroupFind@ResourceGroupManager@Ogre@@QAEX_N@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library OgreMain.dll.”

I’ve reinstalled twice, but still no luck. This happens every time I try to run the game.
