Right, so I was having all the freeze/crash problems with MW2. Faulty module nvd3dum.dll, blue screen & the like. It was BRUTAL!!! All of this was STILL going on even after I updated all of my drivers, turned the GFX settings down, adjusted the screen res, tested me RAM & such. The problem, as it turned out, was HEAT!! I was at 71c idle (which is WAY TOO HOT)!!!

I knew this had to be fixed, so I took the side off of my case, (if yours is already off, clean it & prep it to be put back on)I removed my EVGA 8800GTS 640MB & all of my fans. I then CLEANED THEM ALL, removing all of the dusty crud!! If you have a filter on your intake fan, be sure to CLEAN THAT AS WELL!! I also made sure to rearrange my cables in the case so as not to obstruct AIR FLOW (keeping the side of your case off will not keep your PC running cooler, the side MUST BE ON in order for your fans to do their job properly).

Taking these steps have reduced my idle temps from 71c to 48c & now while playing ANY game, including MW2 with all of the setting CRANKED UP, my temps haven't exceed 60c & the crashes have stopped.

I hope this info is helpful!!
