This is Flagship’s response to the issue where Flagshipped had layed off all their employees and that hanbitsoft claims to have acquired the IP rights for Mythos.
“It is with deep regret that I must announce that Flagship Studios has laid off most employees. However, the core management and founding team members are still at Flagship.” said Bill Roper, CEO of Flagship Studios. “The past five years have been an incredible experience for us, but unfortunately, we couldn’t sustain the size of the company any longer.”
Flagship Studios owns the rights to all its technology and IP, including Hellgate: London and Mythos. Due to the current situation, Flagship will not be taking any new subscribers for Hellgate: London, and all current subscriptions will not be billed.
Flagship wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to those that have supported the company and games over the past five years.”
So will patch 2.0 ever come out? don’t bet on it until Flagship gets a new company to invest in their projects. In fact, Flagship is still quiet about if they’ll continue supporting current subscribers and especially those who signed up for the Hellgate London “founder status” and Hellgate’s Lifetime subscriptions. (According to the lifetime subscription terms, Lifetime subscriptions are supposed to last through Hellgate’s online/multiplayer component’s lifetime and not the subscriber’s lifetime so… heh, screwed)

I’m still clueless on as to how fast it happened, but it did. The guys who made Diablo 2, left Blizzard to make a new gaming company has been disolved again. With all staff fired and Intellectual properties divided among the companies that invested the most money into Flagship Studios, things can’t get any uglier for these poor fellows. Hellgate London was Flagship studio’s flagship project and one that sunk immediately after it’s maiden voyage. Who to blame? i dunno. maybe the guys who rushed Flagship to release Hellgate London 10 patches too early or Flagship studios who didn’t seem to do well in fixing the bugs and delivering the experience that they promised during the hype-stage of the game development. Flagship studio’s closing this saturday and i don’t even want to imagine how the Hellgate Fanboys would react to this, well i for one bought it and played through the end but was disappointed due to the lack of variety, story and the worst of all, lack of replayability. Well that was until Stonehenge patch when lots of stuff got changed and bugs squashed but I guess it was too late. The Flagship studios staff has been fired, but we’re given 30 days worth of pay that came from the pockets of the higher ups and Flagship IP’s and IP rights transferred to Hanbitsoft (who took over Mythos) and Comerica (A non gaming company, taking over the Hellgate IP).
I’m still reading on as to what happened because clarifications from the companies and those who are involved are still pouring as i type this. Meanwhile, you can read along with me :

Multiplayer: Patch 1.3d - July 9th, 2008
Patch 1.3d introduces a few significant adjustments to gameplay, character creation, and one vendor NPC in particular. Players can now create Elite Mode characters (and subscribers can create Hardcore Mode characters) if their account has a character that reaches level 20 or above. The update also fixes a PRD bug and a character options issue.
Good hunting, Hellgaters!
The Hellgate: London Team
Hellgate London Patch 1.3d changes
General
* All accounts can now access Elite Mode when one of its characters reaches level 20 or above. (Accounts that already have a level 20 character or above will have to gain a level or rank for this to apply.)
* Subscriber accounts can now access Hardcore Mode when one of its characters reaches level 20 or above. (Accounts that already have a level 20 character or above will have to gain a level or rank for this to apply.)
* The rate at which Rank experience is gained has been rebalanced. Experience required for ranks increases at higher rank levels.
* Our favorite Premium Item Merchant, Ko, just got a new shipment of items from a new supplier. Unfortunately, they aren’t quite the quality that he is used to getting. In fact, they are all mostly Enhanced items. Sure, he’s still got the Rare, Legendary and Unique stuff that he always had, but you are pretty likely to get an Enhanced item from him now. He’s got to do something with this new shipment after all.
Fixes
* Fixed a bug which could cause a player’s PRD to function incorrectly if they were kicked from their party while warping through the PRD.
* Corrected foreign language translations for PRD messaging.
* Fixed a bug where character options would change as a result of minimizing the character options tab.
